One Week in December, Three Monumental Sports Cases
Uncategorized November 16th. 2007, 9:33am
By about 11 p.m. last night, we began to tune out lots of the Barry Bonds news, but one important date remained jammed in our heads: Dec. 7. That’s the day Barry Bonds appears for the first time before a magistrate in San Francisco in regards to his perjury indictment. That day will also kick off a tremendously busy week for athletes in court. Let’s hope Roger Cossack’s head doesn’t explode:
Wednesday Dec. 5 – Pacman Jones enters a plea deal for the triple shooting in the Las Vegas strip club.
Friday, Dec. 7 – Bonds.
Monday, Dec. 10 – The granddaddy of the trio: Michael Vick gets sentenced.

Are you ready for some jailtime?
Pacman – 30 days in jail after all is said and done (probation violation)
Bonds – 12mos – all but 3 mos suspended.
Vick – 18mos – gets released after 12.
Bonds should get more for being such an arrogant prick and not knowing when he is defeated. But I’m pretty sure the arrogant prick law has not been passed yet.

We’re going to do a contest for Vick’s sentence … not sure what the prize will be, but if anyone has ideas (less than $100) please send it this way.
I don’t think Bonds will do time.

As long as this doesn’t preempt Frosty the Snowman, I’m good.

Invisible electric fence for the family dog as a prize?…..too soon?

I think Vick gets the worst sentence. The Bonds thing has been going on for so long now that people have just become so desensitized by the whole situation so he won’t get much. Pacman will get a slap on the wrist, but he has more to worry about in the lawsuits to follow.

Why does ESPN have to force the Barry Bonds thing on us? This is why I don’t watch ESPN anymore… the Bonds garbage, The A-Rod infatuation, etc. I think Phil Jackson had it right when he basically told ESPN to go fuck themselves.

Magglio … save those thoughts for a forthcoming post on Bonds. Going with Oregon next, though.
