Great Night for College Hoops
Uncategorized November 21st. 2007, 11:36am
What we’ve learned – Duke’s Gerald Henderson, in an up-tempo offense, would easily average 20 a night … Illinois still lacks offensive punch … Oregon still doesn’t play any defense – how else to explain a 5-foot-10 freshman scoring 37 points? … Vandy center Andrew Ogilvy is the best freshman that ESPN isn’t blowing – we’re fairly certain this team surprises everyone and reaches the NCAA tournament … nice rally by UCLA last night against Michigan State.
Instead of recapping last night (here’s what happened in Maui), let’s look ahead to the full slate of games today:
Rhode Island at Boston College: The Boston dominance across sports in 2007 will not extend to the hardwood. But BC should win this one, handily.
Illinois vs. Oklahoma State: If the Cowboys can’t handle the Marquette defense, what will happen against the Illini, who are much more physical?
Washington vs. No. 16 Texas A&M: By partaking in this college hoops fantasy league, we frequently find ourselves checking box scores. And this Jon Brockman kid in Washington is a monster now that Hawes has taken his game to the NBA. The guess here is he shows the Jones-Jordan combo a thing or two and the Huskies win.
No. 21 Syracuse vs. Ohio State: Like the Cuse here. Like them this year, actually. But Paul Harris needs to get his game under control. He’s all over the place.
No. 13 Duke vs. No. 11 Marquette: Love us some Dom James, but Duke’s got too much inside for the Eagles. Also, this will be payback for last year’s loss, when Duke was woefully unathletic.

The UCLA win was great one for the team. They really ground it out even though they were missing three key players to injury. I was really impressed.

is anyone else getting a log in screen for the banner at the top?

Watch out for URI. The line is only BC-3 and that seems to good to be true.
They will struggle to contain Will Daniels for URI he is a nice inside outside shooter and tough to match up against. URI has the better front court, better all around shooting, more depth and more experience
My $ will be on the Rhodies getting 3 points.

pki-yeah I got it too.
My favorite result from yesterday (other than Cornell beating Army) was Maryland’s loss to Missouri. The Terps are way overrated by everyone in the DC area (needing overtime to beat Northeastern at home?) and hopefully, Washingtonians will now start to see that.

huh? a log-in screen where?

Oregon should beat St. Mary’s regardless, but they were playing without their best defender and second-best scorer, Bryce Taylor.

I’m using Firefox on a Mac, and whenever I hit the back button to this website, a drop-down menu for the fantasy players network appears and asks me to log in.

I am also using firefox except on a PC and I am getting it. I tried it out in IE, but I don’t get the error using that browser. It is something with Firefox.

Syracuse has a couple of freshman worth watching, including B-More’s Dante Greene.

If you want to talk about off-the-radar freshmen (and by that I mean not Beasley/Mayo/Rose/Love/Gordon), start with J.J. Hickson at N.C. State (26.5 ppg) and James Anderson at Oklahoma State (21.0 ppg). I haven’t seen Hickson, but Anderson looked phenomenal against LSU.
There’s also: Donte Greene at Syracuse (19.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg)– Jonny Flynn has gotten more pub, but Greene has outplayed him; Jerryd Bayless at Arizona (19.7 ppg); Jeff Allen at Virginia Tech (19.0 ppg); and Kosta Koufos at Ohio State (18.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg).
It is an unbelievable freshman class. And oh, by the way, O.J. Mayo is averaging 25.7 ppg on 49% shooting. Since shooting 27 times with four players missing, Mayo is taking 16 shots a game and making 53% since Daniel Hackett (21.5 ppg, 5.5. rpg, 6.5 ppg) and Marcus Simmons returned.

Damn Spartans. Had the game, and blew it. Still, I think they’re gonna be one of the four or five best in the country come March.

I don’t think you can call Greene under the radar. He was a Mcdonald’s AA. And wasn;t he in the top 10 for recruits?
that kid LSU has- Randall? He’s going to be good also. Saw a little of him when they played McNeese St. and the kid is super athletic.
TBL- You guys nailed this post esp. Ogilvy. That kid is nice. Paul Harris needs to slow down, but man that kid is beastly on the boards.

K-Fed made the Ginger center for Michigan State look like Bryant Reeves.

MSU isn’t going to be able to handle the Hoosiers, very few are…
November 21st, 2007 at 7:10 PM
Yeah, I know. Sampson’s been texting Izzo, telling him the Hoosiers are winning the Big Ten….

Duke will be extremely dangerous come March…mark my words.

Singler was the MVP and man he’s a nice player. I’m sure the Laettner comparisons will be all over the place next week.
