Jamaal Tinsley Shot at; Fortunately, Shooters Had the Same Aim as Tinsley’s Three-Point Shot
Uncategorized December 10th. 2007, 11:55am
A chilling situation unfolded around 3:30 am early Sunday morning in Indianapolis: Pacers point guard Jamaal Tinsley and his crew – driving flashy cars that the locals definitely noticed – were shot at by unknown assailants following a night of partying at a place called Cloud 9. Pacers equipment manager Joey Qatato (he’s 48, probably trying to recapture his youth running with 20-somethings) was shot in both elbows and two of Tinsley’s three cars are full of bullet holes courtesy of an assault rifle.
The Pacers are pissed. The want to know why Tinsley was out at such an hour, and they want him to make smarter decisions away from the court. While we can’t argue with Indiana management, we think back to our 20s, when we were out-of-control drunken louts, partying Thursday through Saturday. Although the quality talent was locked up by 1 am, most guys will loiter much later in hopes of making something happen. So we often were out until 3 a.m., at which point we’d end up getting food. There were a few scuffles in DC and NY, but a weapon never made an appearance. They key difference is we got around via cabs, we were never blinged out, and we were only big ballers in our head. If Tinsley’s going to be partying a lot, why not just hire a two-person security detail to diffuse these situations? Tinsley’s making $6.3 million this year, he definitely can afford it.
If the Pacers plan to ship him out of town – like they did with prior problem children Stephen Jackson and Ron Artest – and take on whatever (bad) contract they can in return, we humbly recommend Speedy Claxton in Atlanta, who is overpaid and underperforming (because he’s always injured). He’ll fit right in with Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy.

Tinsley the basketball player would look good with Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Al Horford. But Tinsley the street thug, living in Hotlanta? Would he be able to keep himself alive? Seriously?
Not to change the subject but I think Atlanta should make a run at Kidd. Too bad Atlanta doesn’t have a first round pick to dangle. Phoenix owns that.

If anyone wants the headache, Tinlsey can be had for nothing. And since Stephen Jackson has (mostly) worked out so far …might be worth it.

Horrible Decision if they trade him…minuse the off court problems, this guy is top 5 PG’s in the East. Look at the numbers they don’t lie. 3rd in the NBA in steals, 2nd in the East in steals…great player-he just gets injured often and has these bad luck situations when he goes out partying. Minus that, I wouldn’t take that many PG’s over him-he’s the main reason the Pacers are 10-10 this year and not destined for a lottery pick as many expected.

Anyone that has ever played Counterstrike knows that for an assualt rifle (AK) to be accurate it must be fired in short bursts. Rookies.

He should have been holding something so he could fire back like Stephen Jackson did.

They need to get rid of this dude because he keeps making the same bad choices. Its like if Mike Vick had a bunch of prior indiscretions before he was pled guilty. Oh wait….he had small issues that eventually led to a huge one!
He is overpaid and not as good as Kidd or Nash, and isn’t even in the second tier of good point guards (Paul, Ford, or Nelson). He can’t shoot a lick! BTW, I live in Indy and Cloud 9 is ghetto and there’s no reason is should be at clubs like that anymore (he’s what? 29 or 30 now?). I would suspend him indefinitely until I can get a good deal for him.

I’ve been on the “get Tinsley out of here” bandwagon for 3 years now…Consider me leading the charge at this point

An assault rifle?
Eric Gordon is not at rest with this turn of events.

I live not far from “Cloud 9″ and believe me nothing good happens in this part of town at 3am. What I cant figure out is why someone would follow someone almost 10 miles downtown if all that went on was just some verbal back and forth.
This is Tinsleys 3rd incident involving guns in the past 14 months, the Club Rio incident with Jackson, a Super Bowl party where he supposedly threatened others and now this.
The Pacer orginazation has to be concerned, the dwindling crowds at Conseco will only get worse if something isnt done, and it may make it impossible for the team to survive in Indy.

someone please tell me why Larry Legend is still the GM of this horrible team
i still remember Tinsley coming out of the tunnel with a dustpan during the pistons ruckus, what a douche
that would of been great though to see him bashing detroit fans in the head with a dustpan
tinsley is washed up

Leave Larry Legend Alone!

“…and they want him to make smarter decisions away from the court.”
Smarter decisions on the court as well would be asking too much.

Is there any doubt the Pacers are going to draft Kevin Love? MORE WHITE FORWARDS.

No jokes about needing SJax to regulate?

Apparently lost in all of TBL’s anti-Pacer agenda is that on Friday nite, they handled the Magic in Orlando, and, as of right now, are CLEARLY one of the 4 best teams in the East, as was stated by Rick Carlisle earlier in the season (and mocked by TBL). Also, lost in all of TBL’s anti-Dunleavy agenda is the fact that the guy is having a GREAT season, and finally has a coach who knows what to do with him.
Troy Murphy, however, does suck.

And, oh yeah, Tinsley has one of the best plays of the year:

Hilarious! Except for the guy who got shot. How do you rail against the VT costume two posts earlier? It’s funny if you don’t get hit?

One thing about Artest…they didn’t want to trade him…he pretty much forced the issue. Big difference between him and the SJax situation.
