Ballin’: Jerry Sloan Curses on TV, Blames ESPN
ESPN, NBA December 17th. 2007, 9:19am
Golden State 87, Detroit 109: We’d much rather talk about the Warriors thrilling comeback win over the Lakers Friday, which was the best game we’ve seen this season. This loss in Detroit was simply an annihilation, and there’s really nothing to say. Prince went for 23, McDyess had a double-double, and the Warriors turned it over 23 times.
Boston 90, Toronto 77: They’re now 2-0 without Ray Allen, and a pretty astonishing 20-2 overall. We predicted 50-55 wins and a top three seed in the East; right now, the more likely scenario is 60 wins and no doubt the No. 1 seed. Bosh had 17-13 for the Raptors, who are 14-11; Pierce led the Celtics with 18.
Portland 116, Denver 105: Not to alarm anyone, but the Blazers have peeled off seven in a row, including road wins over Utah and Denver. Not bad, especially when you consider the Blazers are without LaMarcus Aldridge, who leads them in scoring and rebounding. Brandon Roy took 27 shots to score 26 points, and Channing Frye added 20 points and 11 rebounds. After five seasons, Travis Outlaw is finally getting this pro thing; he’s scored double figures eight games in a row. Love his game.
Los Angeles Clippers 92, Los Angeles Lakers 113: Corey Maggette’s 21-point third quarter wasn’t enough, as fourth-quarter defensive breakdowns led the Lakers to victory. Man that Laker bench is tough – 36 points and a flurry of three’s. The dreamy center matchup: Caveman had 18-16-4; Bynum had 14-9-6. Kobe had 32.
Not game-related, but cool nonetheless: Utah coach Jerry Sloan cursed on TV, and he’s blaming ESPN, because he said they should have cropped it out. Jerry Sloan is not a man you want mad at you. Ask John Amaechi.

A few points: You might have mentioned that the Blazers are also without their #1 pick Greg Oden right now. Can you imagine if he was in there contributing 15/10 a game?
Two, Boston is truly disgusting. But I’ll be curious to see how they fare a month or two from now; it’s still early in the season, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see another member of the Big Three miss time due to injury.
And lastly, and maybe this is just a personal preference thing, but would it be too much trouble to put the score for the winning team on the left? I know you’re trying to show us who’s home & away, but “Clippers 92, Lakers 113″ just looks weird.

Its not as if ESPN has never bleeped out curse words before. How did they miss it? This whole coaches being miced thing is stupid anyway. Hopefully, this will force a change. I’m sure there are plenty of upset parents, and rightfully so. A random curse word on the court from a player being caught my a mic is one thi ng, but for ESPN to have the chance to edit the word out and not do it, that is unacceptable. What coaches and players say in the locker room is typically designed for only the people in the locker room, and they are the only ones who need to hear the coach’s halftime speach.

All – lots of folks ask that … but i usually run away team followed by home. Maybe i’ll just give up and put winner first.
As for Oden … just thought since they’ve never played with him, we don’t know how good they’d be. But yes, this team grows up this year, and really runs things next year – and probably for a few after that.

I’ll have to agree that the Blazers will be a good team for the next decade.

At long last, TBL has finally paid some respect to the Blazers. It only took a 7 game winning streak.

The Celtics defense is so good that the last player to score 20 points against them in Boston was Kobe Bryant on Thanksgiving.
I really don’t get the continual comments about “another member of the Big 3 suffering an injury”. This has been going on since before they played a game. In related news I formed a list of other players from the Atlantic Division that I wouldn’t be surprised to see injured:
Andre Miller
Andre Iguldola
Rodney Carney
Willie Green
Kyle Korver
Sam Dalenbert
Eddy Curry
Steph
Jamal Crawford
David Lee
Nate Robinson
Jerome James
Randolph Morris
Zach Randolph
Fred Jones
Malik Rose
Wilson Chandler
Calvin Booth
Reggie Evans
Herbert Hill
Kevin Ollie
Shavlik Randolph
Calvin Booth
Louis Williams
Thad Young
Renaldo Balkman
Jarred Jeffries
Quentin Richardson
Mardy Collins
Jason Kidd
Richard Jefferson
Vince Carter
Darrel Armstrong
Josh Boone
Marcus Williams
Malik Allen
Nenad Kristic
Jamal Magloirre
Sean Williams
Antoine Wright
Bostjan Nachbar
Jason Collins
Chris Bosh
Joey Graham
TJ Ford (too late)
Andrea Bargnani
Anthony Parker
Jose Calderon
Jorge Garbjosa
Carlos Delfino
Juan Dixon
Kris Humphries
Jason Kapono
Jamrio Moon

TBL, please DO NOT change the way you post scores. The current way gives the reader 2 pieces of information: who won and where the game was played. If you post the winner first, you’re only giving us the winner. This is a no-brainer. Who cares if the larger number comes second.

Or, you could just put the home team in ALL CAPS.
