What Isiah Thomas Learned From Bobby Knight (Video)
College Basketball, Video December 17th. 2007, 11:16am{vidavee id=”4183″ w=”320″ }
One defense Isiah Thomas should have used in September during his infamous MSG trial: I learned it from Bobby Knight!
In Bobby Knight’s Unauthorized Biography, the authors describe a scene on page 148 in which Thomas, one-year removed from Indiana University, returned to Bloomington in 1982 to receive an award as the Hoosier celebrity of the year at a country club golf tournament. The book states that Thomas, presumably 21 at the time, was puzzled about what to say. Knight allegedly told him, “make jokes at his expense.” Thomas went on to drop the F-bomb and a few other curse words before teaching the largely white audience a new word: sunt. It means … we’ll let Isiah tell you. Apparently, this is the first time video has surfaced – or so our tipster claims. It’s all fun and games and laughter until Isiah silences the crowd with sunt. He looks to Bobby Knight, sees daggers in his former coach’s eyes (at the minimum, the look says, ‘proceed with caution’) … and then keeps going! We should warn you that the video contains some FOUL LANGUAGE.

Wow. Kudos to you for that one. Classic.

Wow. Instant classic.
The crowd basically goes dead silent when “sunt” gets dropped. I think “slore” would have been the better play.

The term “quit while your ahead” applies here.

Hard to imagine Bobby Knight being offended by the word “sunt.” But the crowd went silent when he used it. Let’s take it as it is. This was an attempt by a good kid, and an effing great basketball player, to be funny at BK’s expense. You could see the wind come out of this young man when he said cunt and looked at BK. Let’s not trash him for this. Trash him for being a horrible coach, executive and for being a racist. In this clip, he was still an innocent young kid and I kinda feel sorry for him because he grew up in a very, very rough part of town and he was surrounded by mostly racist white people and then said something the racist white people didn’t like.

That was money until the sunt part. Takes me back to Larry David at the poker table. No one likes the C word.

Larry Dolan just gave Isiah a five year extension after watching that video.

The legacy grows.

I think the word is still spelled with a “c,” only it’s a soft “c.” The question is then whether using the soft “c” turns an unspeakable word into something speakable.

at the maximum, Knight’s look says “I’m gonna rip your balls off and feed them to a pack of wild dogs.”
Also, I’m a little confused with the video. With the words Isiah already dropped, why would sunt make Knight so mad and why did that word go over so poorly with the crowd?

TBL – Straight up lockdown. Had to have tech guy crack registry to put firefox on laptop. IE only went to corporate portal.
