Stink at Fantasy Sports? Fear Not!
Fantasy Sports January 25th. 2008, 3:43pm
FROM ROTO NATION.COM: Who knew how easy it was to get a fantasy sports job? There are like, tons of them right now! Must be a transitional phase now that fantasy football is over and everyone prepares for fantasy baseball. ESPN has several job openings, and Yahoo has one, too. Hey, maybe you can become a star, like Matthew Berry! Then, you can get paid like one, too! Fortunately, none of the qualifications involve “having the ability to win a fantasy league two years in a row.” Because everyone knows lighting can strike once. Two in a row? Sure. And the Giants are going to win the Super Bowl.

I am seriously thinking about hosting a TBL commenter fantasy baseball league. Would anyone be interested?
January 25th, 2008 at 3:49 PM
i would be interested in going to a TBL conference

What are the qualitfications?
There are none?
Really?
Look, Matthew Berry has a job.
You are right! Anyone can do it.
While Berry’s job is a complete sham, I still respect him for conning money out of ESPN. That man will one day go to his grave for not contributing anything of worth to society, but got over on ESPN. Give the man a gold star.

Back to Back fantasy football champion in a 12 team, non-keeper league.
Irish, TBL conference would be incredible, I think you, me, asu, maggs, and with spencer leading the way could have some “chill” times.

Does anyone ever look to see how these “experts” such as Berry do in the ESPN (or whatever) public leagues they are in?
January 25th, 2008 at 3:54 PM
Matthew Berry is a fucktard, not a star. There is a huge difference.
January 25th, 2008 at 3:55 PM
im in…email me at mikeychx@hotmail.com
i could be an expert…i drafted 24 ffl teams on espn this year…of the 24…16 made the play offs (66%)…of these 16 – 8 advanced to the super bowl (33% of total) and of the 8 – 6 won the super bowl (25%)…unfortunately, i havent won a fbl world series since 2003

Few things piss me off more than fantasy sports. Not so much because I hate the concept (I do), but because everyone feels the need to tell you about their team and the way they made a great trade/got screwed/pulled out a win/blah blah blah. Memo: unless you are speaking to someone who is in your league, no one cares and most people think you are a fucktard.

matthew barry said to sell randy moss early in the season after back to back huge games

It seems to me that aside from giving advice on where to draft certain players there’s nothing these guys provide…their weekly breakdowns revolve around telling you to start guys playing bad defenses
January 25th, 2008 at 3:57 PM
coop…forgive my momentary fucktardedness above
January 25th, 2008 at 3:58 PM
Not a problem, I live in perpetual fucktardedness, it just doesn’t involve fantasy (aside from the one with tebows woman)
January 25th, 2008 at 4:00 PM
Coop, please excuse mine as well.

man i didnt accomplish anything all week at work, fuck
January 25th, 2008 at 4:02 PM
@pkiguy22
I would be interested. I tried my first fantasy baseball league last year and I will say it is much more difficult than fantasy football.
January 25th, 2008 at 4:05 PM
for anyone interested, I just created an e-mail for this proposed league. the e-mail is commenterleague@gmail.com.
For the people that respond, we can decide on the format and host later, I just want to see if there is enough people interested to even do it. TBL is guaranteed a spot if they are interested so that leaves about 10 spots available.
January 25th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Sure, I’d be interested in making a donation…er, joining a fantasy baseball league.
Dibs on the shitty “talent” the Buccos have been signing this week!

@pkiguy22
If “they” are interested. That always makes me laugh. As if TBL is like three dudes scouring the interwebs for boobs and fart jokes.

Eric Karabell considers Matthew Berry one of the cool kids.

January 25th, 2008 at 4:15 PM
if you are interested, e-mail me at the commenterleague@gmail.com I don’t want you guys having to post your personal e-mail on a message board.

TBL Conference in Tampa! TBL Conference in Tampa! Irishmafia, start scouting out places of ill repute for a few…workshops. Say hi to Jenn Sterger if you see her around, and try and get to her commit to attending.
January 25th, 2008 at 4:20 PM
speaking of the man/men…they have been fairly quiet on the commenter boards
January 25th, 2008 at 4:25 PM
Where are sportsgal and guinessgirl?
January 25th, 2008 at 4:26 PM
I remember when Matt Berry suggested that “selling Moss high” was a good strategy (around week 4), his reasoning was that Tom Brady had never thrown more than X number of TD’s (i think it was 8 or 10) to one receiver.
I knew he was a retard, or what did you guys call it..a fucktart, at that precise moment. Its kinda like how you remember where you were when you first heard about some tragic event, like when JFK was killed.

@pkiguy
I just got a email back stating that your link is SNAFU.

I’ve never gotten into fantasy sports. Never seen the appeal of devoting all that time to something that didn’t get me laid. Mind you . . . also said the same thing about doing my homework in college. So I could be wrong.
January 25th, 2008 at 4:49 PM
My ability to take a fantasy baseball team into directly into the cellar by overanyalyzing every player requires me to enter.
January 25th, 2008 at 5:16 PM
Anyone up for a TBL sanctioned Tourney Pool? I can do the legwork and tag it as TBL’s. Of course, we’d need an internal majority decision by the TBls.

love that idea KC Resident
