Someone I read pointed out that the plotting is basically an illustration of Zeno’s dichotomy paradox, and after they spent about 25 episodes basically stalling through seasons 2 and 3, I gave up. I’ll be watching primarily because of the strike (there’s nothing else on) and because I get a kick out of making fun of it.

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread. I just watched the season premiere online so am a little late to the discussion.

I think the thing that separates Lost from other shows is the character development. There’s a lot of depth to all these charcters. The flash-backs and flash forwards are what makes the show one of the most interesting shows I’ve ever seen.

I would say the show has become quite a bit darker though. I found myself depressed a lot of times after watching lost in Season 3! and felt the same way the other night.

On a side note, the last 30 minutes of Friday Night Lights was amazing the other night.

Didn’t think I say this a year or 2 ago, but I actually think Friday Night Lights is better than Lost. They are a lot different, so it’s kind of like comparing apples to oranges, but the acting and script writing in FNL is just as if not more impressive than Lost.

Desmond annoys the shit out of me. The way he says “brother” in that annoying accent EVERY SINGLE EPISODE has become more annoying than Hurley saying “dude” or Sawyer saying “freckles.”

See, I like Locke and Sawyer. Claire is irrelevant. Jack is annoying because that is the way his character is supposed to be. Charlie and the dude that plays him just bug the shit out of me. Don’t like his acting, didn’t like his character, and his story arc never seemed that interesting.

We need to define annoying: If we are taking about someone that just “gets” to you than its either Claire or Charlie with a close third with Hurley;

But if its someone you just feel the need to stomp the sh*t out of: I go with Locke (selfish prick – I would’ve killed him too after blwoing up the sub); Michael ; and of course Sawyer (but he is a fantastic anti-hero!!).

No. I didn’t mean he locked the door to keep Penny on the line. I meant that he locked the door to not kill Desmond. He hung on to the line and tried to reunite him as long as he could. But Charlie had to keep Desmond alive for two reasons: because he still had hope (Penny was still looking for him), and he had to get the message that it wasn’t Penny’s boat to the other survivors.

Yeah, Charlie had to die. He could have gotten out if he wanted. I’m glad he’s gone. Besides Jack, he is the most annoying character on the show.
