How anyone can say that spygate and steroids are the same thing without seeing the larger implications (the health risks involved for the players abusing them, even moreso for the teenagers copying those players)is beyond me.

A large part of Congress’ involvement in steroids in sports is due to them being: a) illegal b) detrimental to health and well-being of kids.

Last I checked, video-taping signals was not a federal offense. Of, course, it is against NFL rules, and thus should be punished by the NFL (it was) and kept an in-house matter.

Baseball players use of steroids and methods of acquisition of steroids is illegal in the US. Videotaping is against NFL rules. I can’t believe there is a debate about which is worse.

no, it is not AS bad as video taping, that is like stealing signs in baseball, something that should be handled on the field.

Rom Jaworski admitted yesterday that in 1976, (actually, i found the year was 1975, but I cant find the box score) his back up QB would decifer the opposing defensive signals and relay them to Jaws. he got wind of a blitz, threw a pass over the middle and it turned out to be a long touchdown play. Was this considered cheating ? is this as bad as video taping ?

On one of the pre-game segments they had a bunch of past AFC pro-bowlers talking about how Belichek had someone spying on the NFC’s practice. And cussing them out during halftime of the ProBowl. I guess it’s more than a free vacation in Hawaii to him.

whats the difference between steroids and “spygate”?

isn’t spygate the more egregious offense? they won 3 super bowls by 3 points guys.. a tiny advantage like filming signals (if in fact it was done before this year) is a demonstrative advantage no?

the problem with steroids is that we dont know how many pitchers were on it, and from the early results of failed drug tests, the users were pretty equal pitchers to batters.. i think spygate is worse…
