Plaxico just became one of my favorite NFL players.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:18 AM
from simmons
douchebag. douchebag. douchebag
February 4th, 2008 at 8:20 AM
Maybe if Plaxico was playing defense the Patriots could have eeked out another field goal to get to 17 points.
Poor Gisele, something tells me her little Brazilian heiney is rather sore this morning. Same goes for whatever housewife Bellichick picked up last week.

Everyone has a Brady story like that. Howard Stern said Brady – through connections with Robert Kraft – was set to come on the show this morning. Assuming, of course, the Pats had won.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:24 AM
I really don’t see how this team recovers from this. They are tough enough to win close and blow people out, but are they built for utter and complete disappointment?
As for Bill Simmons, it’s too bad that most of the hatred for New England fans starts and ends with him. We all deserve to be fans, but when you make a living off of being a complete homer, its got to hurt to have to answer all of America for your team’s loss.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:33 AM
see i think the reason people have turned on him is summed up by that quote. six years ago he wouldnt have been talking about going to an afterparty with the team, he actually did sound somewhat like a ‘regular fan’ back then, albeit a regular fan with a bit more access than the rest of us. but in the past few years he has become a pseudo celebrity and hobknobs with tv stars and athletes, but tries to put himself off as this regular joe. hes a douchebag and his writing has gone waaaaay downhill

moleman: Exactamundo.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:37 AM
So Simmons has followed the same career path as Brady
February 4th, 2008 at 8:40 AM
couldn’t have happened to a better group of fans

*Fixed

Yeah maggs, WTF was with walking off with time still on the clock. Try to show a little class for once in your life. I’m so happy this morning, F the pats, F the coach, F the pompous NE fans.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:53 AM
so eli manning actually won last night? in the super bowl? hmm.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:54 AM
honestly this was such a perfect game, exciting finish great superbowl winning play to keep it going and then the post game shrapnel
all these dickbag pats fans/writers all season have had this arrogance that no one will touch them, no one can beat them then this happens and the entire country can take turns shitting all over them
love it, great way top start a week
February 4th, 2008 at 8:54 AM
@coop247
Totally agree. You can make the argument that he didnt know there was still time left, but you could see a dude with a red flag running after him saying “Coach, there’s still time!” He had to have known and he just kept walking out. What an ego-maniac. I hope that SPYGATE turns this whole almost decade of Pats lick into a complete laughing stock. All because of Bellichoad. He is such an unlikable fuck.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:58 AM
@moleman: I was coming hear to post that exact quote, ya bastard. Allow me to add my thoughts.
Brady’s crew is small (read: he’s not black)
/Simmons is racist.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:03 AM
let this be a lesson to future overly-successful fanbases…if you become insufferable assholes, your arrogance will cost you in the most painful way imaginable.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:04 AM
I love how Burress’ prediction was labeled as cocky and stupid, but Brady’s response to it was just “Tom being Tom,” or just a great quarterback with confidence in his fellow teammates. Burress was merely being confident
February 4th, 2008 at 9:05 AM
I must say as a quiet (except during the games) pats fan this is the most gut-wrenching day I have experienced outside of real events (family issues, etc.) This whole season I watched the team I loved get shit on for cheating, scoring too much, then too little. The fans from N.E. turned into the biggest nutcases on the planet. Every other fan based turned on them with hatred I have never seen. Maybe it will take a month to reflect and remember how I felt through the Bmore, Philly, Colt, Giants (1st) game, but who knows. I think I agree with whoever wrote this could end the dynasty, since I dont know if you comeback from a loss like this.
/ I can see my workload in front of me…but I cant pick it up.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:06 AM
If Belichick had a camera on the game clock instead of trying to steal signals he would have known there was time left. At least he’s consistent, he’s a miserable dick whether he wins or loses. It’s just much more enjoyable after a loss.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:13 AM
@sterlin
See even that pisses me off. Try being a LIons fan! WE have never even sniffed it. I swear we could go all the way to the SB and get killed and we would be happy as a pig in shit. You went 18-1 for God’s sake! That is a tremendous season. You’ll live.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:15 AM
I just read that Simmons article. Other than “the pass”, I don’t remember a single time that a bounce went NY’s way, or when they got lucky. In fact the Pats got lucky several times, Steve Smith handing ball to defender, penalty called on batted fumble, 12 men on field. Pats got outplayed because they were cocky asshats who thought they couldn’t lose.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:15 AM
Simmons is a douche but everyone and their mother has already read him this morning?
Seems to be a douche people like to read.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:16 AM
@Dornoch
I haven’t read Simmons.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:19 AM
@ Dornoch–I haven’t read him yet either. But I do. And it is possible to have the opinion that he’s a douche bag and still read his columns.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:20 AM
Oh, and my mother has never read Simmons.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:21 AM
@Dornoch: Very good point. He’s such an unreadable douche, yet everyone here bolted to their computer this morning to see what he had to say.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:26 AM
@Maggs –
Im sorry but you cant understand as a lions fan. Trust me if you could have gone through what I went through as a fan this year you would be feeling the same thing. Its miserable and it sucks the backlash will be 500 times worse cause of the insufferable fanbase and writers up in the N.E (and West Coast). I mean, how did you feel after the Fab Five blew their shot at history (and ironically had everything washed away, which could happen to N.E.). Im just hoping people remember the fact that for 19 weeks the pats gave them everything from memorable games to tabloid headlines and everyone enjoyed it. Congrats to the Giants, they absolutely deserved it.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:28 AM
I actually thought Simmons column (sans the party paragraph) was good. Credit where its due, and if I missed other parts where he was a douche its cause I can only actually read every three words. I actually dont know how I focused enough to drive to work.
/ Assignments still sitting there un-opened.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:38 AM
It was crap because he said several times, “got lucky” and “bounces went their way”. They freaking outplayed the pats almost the entire game, but they were lucky enough to win. I’m still trying to remember these lucky breaks.
February 4th, 2008 at 9:58 AM
Coop – Fair enough, I really didnt comprehend much of it. Sorry he is a douche and represents Pats fans…
February 4th, 2008 at 10:24 AM
Hey give Simmons a break, he actually had to go back to his room a write this column instead of the one he wrote last Monday. His inner douche detector is a bit off.
February 4th, 2008 at 10:41 AM
I know he’s taking the heat because he’s the biggest writer, for the biggest website, and his entire shtick is he’s a complete unabashed homer, but seriously can we all stop complaining about Simmons.
I’m a good American Patriot hater like every one else here, and I’m ecstatic they lost, but let’s all experience the joy of Schadenfreude by enjoying the pain (yes i know this is redundant) of Belicheck, Randy Moss, and the entire Patriots fan-base.
February 4th, 2008 at 12:09 PM
@Coop – NYG Lucky* breaks: Non call on Toomer’s push off, Eli-Bradshaw fumble that bradshaw wrestled back after the Pat had recoverd it, Burress catch then fumble…
*These weren’t obvious one way or the other, they just happened to go the Giants way.
February 4th, 2008 at 12:14 PM
In fairness NE lucky breaks: the 12 man thing on 4th down (if the ball is snapped a sec later it’s not a penalty), the DB falling on Moss’s TD…
February 4th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
This will live for eternity.
