Best Video … Ever? Dodgers’ Baseball Boogie
Baseball, Video February 26th. 2008, 8:55am
Stop what you are doing right now and watch this video. It is called the Baseball Boogie, and it features members of the 1986 Los Angeles Dodgers (Mariano Duncan, Rick Honeycutt, Fernando Valenzuela, Pedro Guerrero, etc) singing and dancing. It’s a travesty that this video is unable to be embedded; otherwise, we’re sure this would be larger than the Super Bowl Shuffle. The level of production here, considering it was filmed in 1986, is incredible. From the satin jackets to the douchy dance moves, it is nothing short of fantastic.
Orel Hershiser’s antics are particularly priceless. We must have made 15 attempts to get screen-grabs of his mannerisms, but we were unsuccessful. He makes no fewer than five “o” faces and flips his hands around as if he were part of a Broadway production. His chicken legs are in perpetual motion, too. The only question we have is why Hershiser wasn’t considered for the final dance scene in “Footloose.”
The reader who sent us this link last night saw it first on Tony Jackson’s Dodgers blog. In a word – awesome.

Oh my God…these are grown men! Maybe Pedro Guerrero can use this defense as to why he was involved

Didn’t this knock “Simpsons Christmas Boogie” off the charts?
February 26th, 2008 at 9:14 AM
Nothing trumps the Super Bowl shuffle. This doesn’t even top the Simpson’s “Talking Softball” montage.

Now it’s not just Mike Soscia’s tragic illness that makes me smile.

The ‘86 Dodgers made a video? I’m assuming this was pre-season, as those guys ended up losing 89 games that season.

“Afro Shine” played a key role in that video

I think they made rules against travesties like this as part of the collective bargaining agreement right after this was made. We may never see something this epically bad again. Wow, was that gay.

How does this get greenlighted? Orel Hershiser? Really?
February 26th, 2008 at 9:50 AM
The vision of Orel Hershiser thrusting his junk at me will never leave me, ever. I have to go wash my eyes with fire.

Barring a Will Clark/Dave Dravecky sex tape, in the historic rivalry between the Giants and Dodgers, we finally have a winner. And it’s not the Dodgers.

Orel sounds like James Earl Jones when he’s singing but has his regular voice when he announces his love for Las Vegas show rooms.
CONTINUITY ERROR!

An Ed Begley Jr. reference! H/T to Narrator! St. Elsewhere, highly underrated

In that case, I’ll take Orel Hershiser’s Chicken Legs.
