To get you in the mood, despite being a day late on this, is there a better play-by-play of a hockey fight than Jack Edwards of NESN during Thursday’s tangle between Jarkko Ruutu and Milan Lucic?
Washington 4, New Jersey 0:
Newcomer Cristobal Huet got the shutout in his first start for the Caps between the pipes. Yeah, it was only 18 shots, but still a shutout. His fellow new teammate Sergei Fedorov had an assist too.
San Jose 3, Detroit 2:
The Wings continue to sink. Their lead for the Western Conference seed is now three points. The Wings have won just one game in their last 10. Mikael Samuelsson got the game-winner for the Sharks.
Montreal 6, Buffalo 2:
The Habs did a number on the Sabres. Tomas Plekanec’s hat trick and assist was enough for the win.
Anaheim 3, Calgary 1:
It was the defense that carried the offense for the Ducks. Mathieu Schneider and Scott Niedermayer each had a goal and an assist.
