Lee Diekemper recaps the night in the NHL.

New York Rangers 3, Buffalo 2 (SO): The Rangers are looking as good as any team in the NHL. Jason Pominville got a pair of goals, one in the first period and another in the shootout. The Rangers have won 10 of their last 13 games and are making a late run at the top-seeded Devils.

Calgary 7, St. Louis 3: Calgary had a lot of Tanguay and no need of Schweppes. Alex Tanguay had two goals and an assist in a rout. Jarome Iginla became the Flames’ leading scorer in franchise history with 365, passing Theo Fleury. The win keeps the Flames atop the Northwest Division by a scant point.

Vancouver 2, Los Angeles 1 (OT): Ryan Kesler’s two goals — his second early in overtime — was enough to get the Canucks a win. Vancouver is in the mix in the crazy Northwest Division where the top four teams are separated by three points.
