The Roundup: That Kind of Morning
Bill Simmons, College Basketball, College Football, ESPN, NBA, Olympics, Tennis March 13th. 2008, 7:01am
How do we get the Mischa Barton from the OC back? … we contemplated opening with a photo of Spitzer’s hooker, but we figure that you’ve already seen her photo galleries and read her soon-to-be-on-Lifetime story … not to hammer Oklahoma for the second day in a row, but what’s going on out there? … well, this won’t happen … wrestling fans will certainly care: Brooke Hogan’s getting her own TV show … not sure whether we should laugh, look away, or vomit … some statements have been given in the Sean Taylor murder … yes, we’ll be writing a brief post about this …
Caron Butler’s having a birthday party, and Reggie Bush’s girl, for whatever reason, is on the flyer. (DC Sports Bog)
Sights and sounds (and photos!) from the Big East tournament. (College Hoops Journal)
Patriotic Andy Roddick has decided to skip the Olympics to play in the Legg Mason Tennis Classic. (Shakedown Sports)
Peering into the Texas football program’s financials. (Austin Sports Report)
Don’t really agree with Eric Gordon being 4th team All-American, but certainly agree with anything Stacy Keibler says. (Yahoo)
Finally, Oden practices with the Blazers. (Oregonian via Sports by Brooks)
Maybe the Sonics won’t have to go to Oklahoma City after all? Ha. (Seattle Times)
Liked this change-of-pace piece by Bill Simmons. (Page 2)
Celebrating a dubious Knicks’ anniversary. (What Would Oakley Do)

Brady Quinn approves of your shirt.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:15 AM
What the hell TBL? You’re ruining the stereotype of bloggers living in their mother’s basements by coming out into the sunlight.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:16 AM
TBL…congrats on coming out of the closet…or something like that. Anyway, I do think going public is the way to go, and can only help the credibility of the site.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:19 AM
You should’ve pulled a Costanza… “I’m a porn star — my name is Buck Naked.”
March 13th, 2008 at 7:21 AM
Nice to meet you TBL. Is that pic from the recent vacation you took? Looks like a nice place. Do you like to be called TBL or Jason?
March 13th, 2008 at 7:22 AM
Cowherd seemed contrite in the interview, thats a marked change. Congrats on the success.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:26 AM
“Our baby all grows up!”
March 13th, 2008 at 7:26 AM
Good for you, TBL. Oh, and that video of the pumped chick? was so disturbing on so many levels…Nice thing by Bill Simmons..How was it working for US Weekly?
March 13th, 2008 at 7:27 AM
Never understood the fascination with Mischa. She’s one of those chicks I look at and just want to scream “Eat a freakin’ hamburger already”.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:27 AM
congrats TBL on the big time…but more importantly…that hooker is well beyond worth it
March 13th, 2008 at 7:27 AM
You’re ruining the stereotype of bloggers being television-based beet farmers by coming out into the sunlight.
/fixed
March 13th, 2008 at 7:31 AM
I loved Butler’s flyer. I don’t understand the part about “once in a lifetime” though. Does he not plan on having another birthday?
These type things remind me of those super sweet sixteen shows on MTV.
oh and congrats TBL.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:31 AM
So, is TBL in the SI “Brett Favre Issue”?
March 13th, 2008 at 7:33 AM
Yep, don’t care much for Mischa…would not turn down the opportunity but certainly does not fire up the engines.
That video is just plain wrong!
March 13th, 2008 at 7:33 AM
That Simmons article WAS a nice change of pace, until he starting comparing the whole thing to “The Wire”. That seemed juvenile.
First FJM, and now TBL. My world has been rocked. Hold me.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:34 AM
And, by the way, I’ve been going back and reading some of the old interviews (I was the guy that requested TBL fix the link at the top of the page…and now we have two!) and particularly liked the Chad and Feinstein interviews. Good stuff.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:40 AM
now we finally know who the man is
good stuff TBL congrats
March 13th, 2008 at 7:40 AM
I agree about Mischa…not very sexy, and a horrible actress as well. When she left (got fired) The O.C., Season 4 was the best season. Unfortunately, by then, everybody had already stopped watching because Season 3 was so weak.
Give me Taylor Townsend any day of the week. TBL, I hereby request that the Morning Roundup feature Autumn Reeser one of these days!
March 13th, 2008 at 7:41 AM
Did we also finally answer the question of who The Big Deal is?
March 13th, 2008 at 7:42 AM
Congrats on the success TBL.
Like many, if it wasnt for the Cowherd episode, I probably never would have found this site.
Keep up the good work.
And more pics of Stacey Kiebler wouldnt hurt.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:43 AM
TBL’s coming out party does lead to the discovery of stuff like this:

March 13th, 2008 at 7:44 AM
Nice work TBL.
You guys think that hooker was worth $4500?
March 13th, 2008 at 7:44 AM
Was Mary-Ann from Gilligans Island with Spencer last night?
March 13th, 2008 at 7:46 AM
@benji- no way. Not 45 bucks
March 13th, 2008 at 7:47 AM
Brook Hogan’s eye are not tracking straight in that photo…is this a result of the drugs they used for the sex change operation?
March 13th, 2008 at 7:48 AM
JAY V +1,000,000. Absolutley link of the month award. HAHA!!!
March 13th, 2008 at 7:49 AM
Let’s see….$4500, loss of job, probable loss of marriage (and, consequently, loss of half of one’s assets), loss of family’s respect, end of political career. Oh yeah, that was definitely worth it.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:49 AM
Damn, TBL, now I know where I recognized your face from…you write (wrote?) for the Metro, the free daily in Philly and NYC. Under the name Raj McIntyre, though? Crazy, I was seeing a pic of you on a semi-regular basis!
March 13th, 2008 at 7:50 AM
Unfortunately, Jason never put photos on that site or, wisely, took them down. Could have made for some superb ball-busting…
March 13th, 2008 at 7:50 AM
Nice work, the Whitlock interview was the reason I check in everyday at least 3-4 times.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:58 AM
TBL…thats a pretty nice view considering youre stationed in Brooklyn.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:58 AM
im confused. where is this ‘tbl coming out party’ located?
March 13th, 2008 at 8:01 AM
/Double Fixed
March 13th, 2008 at 8:01 AM
And, which one of the Schrutes is TBL?
March 13th, 2008 at 8:02 AM
/Triple Fixed (To add the Bold since I suck at life)
March 13th, 2008 at 8:03 AM
I’m here to discuss hookers and now TBL (I’m sticking with TBL) has been unmasked. At least the US Weekly job explains the RomoSimpson fascination. Congrats on becoming big time, don’t blow us off for better trollers.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:05 AM
The Steam Room, eh? Heh, heh, heh…
March 13th, 2008 at 8:10 AM
cant believe simmons compared the situation to the wire but it was still pretty good.. congrats TBL!
March 13th, 2008 at 8:10 AM
benji if we are talking just about the money…if you have the 4500 to blow…then ya definitely worth it
March 13th, 2008 at 8:12 AM
TBL blowin’ up all over the web.
Should have known…
Everything’s now changed, people will be licking TBL’s balls even more.
Has TBL jumped the shark, similar to Deadspin?
Here’s hoping the answer is no.
Good interview, though, TBL. Keep up the excellent work.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:13 AM
Nice goin, TBL.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:23 AM
What? No love for the woman stuck on the toilet for 2 years in the Roundup?
March 13th, 2008 at 8:28 AM
What? No love for the woman stuck on the toilet for 2 years in the Roundup?
There was a full story on her yesterday. Scroll down.
TBL, congrats on “coming out”.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:32 AM
I was out yesterday, but in the regards to the dude in Oklahoma, well it is Oklahoma.
Congrats on making it to the big time TBL.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:38 AM
Also, Mischa Barton just doesn’t do anything for me. I am sorry.
Spitzer’s call girl is twice as hot in my book.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:44 AM
Congrats TBL. The little site is all growed up!
March 13th, 2008 at 8:52 AM
That is the worst roundup picture I can remember. I thought it was roller girl at first, I guess that wouldn’t be so bad.
Nice work TBL!
March 13th, 2008 at 8:53 AM
TBL-nice to see a fellow JMU alum making the big time. (I’m class of ‘94-and an Eagle Hall survivor. I’m not sure which one I’m more proud of…)
And the Simmons piece was great until he went into the whole “Wire” comparison–then it became about him instead of the story. I understand what he was trying to do, but an editor should’ve excised that part.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:55 AM
I thought it was Tina Yothers!
March 13th, 2008 at 8:57 AM
Mischa Barton reminds me of Mena Suvari – not hot, not a good actress, and supremely overrated.
Speaking of which, if I’m going to blow up my life and career over a hooker, she’s going to be hotter than that chick. I realize Spitzer isn’t exactly a good looking guy, but c’mon dude, you’re the f’ing Governor of New York. You can’t pull a little tail on the side if need be?
March 13th, 2008 at 8:59 AM
Mishca looks like the older sister from Wonder Years, but less hot.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:00 AM
TBL, hope you can still walk down the street without TMsleeZe up in your grill.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:07 AM
“I remember early on in my career working as the studio host for the NBA finals between the Bulls and the Jazz and we wrapped up in Salt Lake City and I was sharing a cab with Jason McIntyre heading to the airport and I just looked over at him and thought, ‘I’m riding in a cab with Jason McIntyre. This is big.’â€
March 13th, 2008 at 9:10 AM
THAT’S JASON McINTYRE’S MUSIC!!! OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jason mcintyre choked out his shadow.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:16 AM
TBL…keep me off the shit list, i meant it outta respect.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:17 AM
http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page3/story?page=mcintyre/jeter The Jeter coverage started early!
Keep up the good work TBL
March 13th, 2008 at 9:21 AM
Page 3?! Wow. Did you ever audition for ESPN Hollywood or was that job always Mario Lopez’s to lose?
Seriously, glad you’ve given up the life of Deep Throat. You deserve to accept all the praise publicly. Great work!
March 13th, 2008 at 9:27 AM
Wait so does that mean you’re credible now that you’re no longer anonymous?
And solid investigative reporting by the 412 and Jay V. +1 for both you guys.
BTW: I know there’s a bunch of Simmon’s haters here, but 2 of his last 3 columns, (the Sav our Sonics letters, The “Jas” column”) have been some of his finest stuff
March 13th, 2008 at 9:48 AM
TBL, I would go back and burn down the internet if anyone found out who I was. Especially with as much work as you seem to have produced. I know a guy who’s a flamer (wink, wink) and he can get rid of your embarrassing documents.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:48 AM
Great SI article. Congrats!
March 13th, 2008 at 9:53 AM
Jason…congrats on the coming out thing…I guess that whole blogging journalism post from a few weeks ago has been a slight dilemma for you…the Us Weekly gig definitely explains the cheesy pop culture stuff and your love for crappy television…but I have said it before…you have made the site a bastion for intelligent conversation, good arguments and of course dick jokes…all three make this my favorite spot to go..keep up the good work and don’t shit on us little people when you write the inevitable pretentious book or when you whore yourself out to SI as a feature columnist ( I’d say ESPN but there is little chance of that happening)
March 13th, 2008 at 9:53 AM
I concur, cool story on SI.com, TBL.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:55 AM
Deadspin just linked to TBL’s SI story. Apparently, Leitch or Chandler go to the same gym as our boy Jason (?).
March 13th, 2008 at 9:56 AM
Wow, TBL, headed for the big time. As another former “professional journalist” who tried to maintain a blog while working for Entertainment Weekly, I can attest that what TBL has accomplished is indeed tough to pull off. A person can only be so clever and original so many hours of the day. But then again, US Weekly doesn’t really require much of that, so…
Just kidding, TBL. Congrats, and look forward to what you have in store for us in the future.
March 13th, 2008 at 10:03 AM
Wow J-Mac!! I didn’t know you were the “Hot as a Pistol” autistic kid!! You write so well.
congrats
March 13th, 2008 at 10:31 AM
My BIL is also a JMU grad(class of ‘76), so now I feel like there’s kind of a Six Degrees of Separation thing going on here. And, despite the fact that he is still a huge tool, I have Shrutebag to thank for my finding you. Congrats on the “outing” TBL…
March 13th, 2008 at 11:03 AM
How was the Save our Sonics letters piece good work? It was a bunch of letters? It sucked.
