Your Final Four Midwestern Bracket Representative: Kansas
College Basketball March 30th. 2008, 7:20pm
If Jim O’Donnell were here, he’d tell you that the clock had struck midnight and Davidson had not slain a giant superpower from the overrated Large Dozen super conference that isn’t a pumpkin. He’s not though so you’ll have to settle for me being the one to blog the fact that Davidson’s magical run came to and end at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks.
Kansas joins UNC, UCLA, and Memphis for an All-1-Seed Final Four to take place in San Antonio starting next Saturday.
Kansas beat our Mid-Major Heroes 59-57. We can all now resume not being aware of Stephen Curry or Davidson until next March when everyone is calling them their “sleeper team.” Or you can just call them Gonzaga Eastern.

The best Final Four match-ups in a very long time.
Also, Curry would be crazy not to declare for the draft.

Note the one creepy old guy to the left of the Jayhawk amongst the co-eds in the pic.

On the heels of this run where do you think he would go in the draft?

These kids resistance to dribbling up the court quickly with less than 20 seconds on the clock still baffles me. Get up quickly and you can possibly play 2 for 1 in case you miss the first bucket.
Sad to say but he’s just another J.J. Redick. Not once did I see him take the ball and create his own shot. Everything was off a screen or a back cut pass. If his shot isn’t open, he can’t do anything about it.

Curry is a smaller version of JJ Reddick…I’d be surprised if he would go in the lottery

2nd rounder at best.

He’s not nearly as good or athletic as Boobie Gibson, just for a comparison, and he went in the mid 2nd.

that is a good comparison for him Nick I agree.

I will say Davidson giving Kansas all they could handle makes me feel better about the abortion of a game the Badgers played against them on Friday (I was going to say there wasn’t enough beer in Madison to cheer me up that night but turns out there was)…how crazy would it have been for them to go through the Big East, Big Ten and Big XII champions in three straight games?
March 30th, 2008 at 8:27 PM
From now on he’ll be known as Stephen “Coulda, woulda, shoulda” Curry.
And if that kid knocks down that three… oh well.

I’d like to have seen them draw up a play for the White Curry #24 at least once down the stretch…Curry looked tired late in that game

On an unrelated note … baseball opens up it season by playing two games in Japan (or was it China?) at four o’clock in the morning, and now for the first in-country game we get Braves/Nats?
March 30th, 2008 at 8:47 PM
Yeah, it’s the first game in that stadium, so I’m guessing that’s why they got the nod.

Rick Flair. Career is over. Good Night.

Awesome weekend for sports. Did anyone mention the Elite show on Saturday with Cung Le vs Frank Shamrock. AWESOME!!

Eight Sweet Sixteen games and four Elite Eight games this weekend, and exactly two of the twelve were decided by single digits. This “OMG BEST TEAMS EVAR” Final Four better be pretty damn awesome, ’cause the second weekend friggin’ blew.

Stephen Curry has better handles than both Boobie Gibson and J.J. Redick. He does a fine job of creating shots for himself, and unlike those two, has the ability to finish around the rim.
That said, he needs to put on an Olsen twin before he’s ready for the physicality of the NBA.

@the unreliable- saying Stephen Curry cant get off his own shot is one of the most assinying(sp?) thing to say about that kid. Kid played his heart out and your talking about he cant get off his own shot. WTF did you watch a game of his or no?
Curry is only a sophmore in college. I agree heavily with CLeve Rock with what he said about his handle and his shots. He will beef up in time for the pros. Kid will be a lights out shooter just like his pops in the pros.
