Just Get Rid of Ryan Perrilloux Already
College Football April 2nd. 2008, 11:04am
How many mulligans is Les Miles going to give this kid? LSU sophomore QB Ryan Perrilloux, who barely has more career TD passes (8) than run-ins with the boys in blue (depending on how you define a ‘run-in’, four to seven), allegedly flipped out at a restaurant in the Bayou over the weekend, and the police were called. This doesn’t appear to be an April 1st joke.
Perrilloux entered the bar and attempted to order drinks. After he was denied service, Perrilloux began to curse and use racial slurs, the server said. A Kona Grill manager approached Perrilloux, who then cursed the manager. The server said Perrilloux was asked to leave. And the police were called to the restaurant, but Perrilloux had left by the time any officers arrived.
Come on, Les, cut the cord. Exasperated fans appear to want him gone, some out of fear that the program will turn into the next U.

Isn’t this kid supposed to be really, really talented?
Also, he was denied service because the bar was closed.

I’m so glad this fool didn’t come to Austin.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:10 AM
That Tiger Droppings thread is full of funny
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:10 AM
We have no room in college for people using racial slurs. BE GONE!
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:13 AM
why such a unsavory reputation for the U all the time TBL?
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:15 AM
I read on the Tiger Droppings board where people were saying he hadn’t done anything that warranted dismissal. And at first glance of the list of offenses, I’d be inclined to agree. However, in HR (as I put on my “Toby” hat) we like to use a term known as “progressive discipline.” It’s pretty simple. You screw up once, you’re verbally warned. You screw up again, you’re given a written warning. You screw up a third time, you’re suspended. You screw up a fourth time, you’re dismissed.
When you look at his offenses in totality, he probably should be gone by now. But if his past behavior is any indicator, he’ll do something to be kicked off soon enough.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:18 AM
A low blow from TBL thrown at Miami? I’m SHOCKED!
Sure Les could do the right thing and cut him loose, but who else can he go to? Can you imagine the “apeshitness” that would envelope Louisiana if LSU were to lose to App St? I’m not saying this kid is the key to their season, but you’re better off with a QB with experience to start the season…even if he’s a bit of a head case.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:21 AM
I could never be a college football coach these days. Aside from the fact that I have no idea how to run a football program, I’d have no patience for repeated stupidity and thuggery.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:22 AM
Irish, it’s the same thing with the reputation Philly fans have. You just have to take it with a grain of salt.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:24 AM
At a Kona Grill? I didn’t know yuppiedom had spread that far south.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:24 AM
Irish
Don’t you know that Miami is a haven for thugs, killers, and desgraciados…even though there have only been about 4-5 run-ins with the law in the past five years. That’s a slow weekend for UF:)
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:24 AM
@gonzo- you guys boo Santa Clause. I just think TBL doesnt like the U and i have been trying to figure out why.
did Adande go to the U or something LOL
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:24 AM
You know that I was going to say something….
I really don’t know anyone who wants him to stay. This is what, his fifth chance? Les is making an exception because he only has two returning quarterbacks with any shot whatsoever: one is a redshirt freshman, and the other is a transfer from Harvard. But I don’t care who we have at the quarterback position this year. It’s not worth it. This double standard is going to hurt us big time. I know that you can’t show any weakness when you’re competing with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Texas, etc. for the same recruits, but enough is enough.

@gansta D- thats my alma mater, the U. TBL loves UF so he doesnt talk bad about them. But i do agree with you heavily that they have been in a lot of trouble. More so than the U in the past 5 years
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:26 AM
im just glad nick saban isnt alive to see this
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:32 AM
I’ve got nothing against the U. Loved Irvin there, and Blades, and Bratton – hell, in the 80s, my team was the U. Still loved them in the 90s (call me fairweather if you like, but when you are growing up, you pick a team to like, and they were good and i liked them and it kinda stuck).
But you must admit – the school has a rep.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:33 AM
a rep of putting out top notch pros
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:34 AM
Irish, do you not remember the ‘86 team wearing fatigues to the dinner with PSU and storming out. How about the multiple gun related incidents over the past 20 years. Some of the reputation is unwarranted, but most of it is earned.
On topic though, they can keep him for all I care. He is apparently a moronic jack ass, and moronic jack asses will screw you when you need them most. So LSU will be worse off keeping him. And I realize recent OSU commit TP has no official police business, buuut, super can’t miss recruit, seems to find trouble, seems to be a jack ass, similar is all I will say.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:35 AM
i remember a mid nineties SI cover of ’should miami disband their football program’.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:35 AM
@coop- of course i do. What about the Catholics vs Convicts as well
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:36 AM
a rep of putting out top notch Ho’s

April 2nd, 2008 at 11:38 AM
Does LSU get Fulmer Cup points for this?
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:39 AM
It’s not like LSU needs him to win. Matt Flynn doesn’t have 1/4 the talent of this kid, but he was smart and scrappy and did whatever it takes to win, and that was enough for a title.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:39 AM
Ryan is a fucking douche who is really just screwing himself his teammates and lsu. He has went from being a 2nd to 3rd round draft pick to probably undraftable unless he grows up in a hurry.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:40 AM
I go to tigerdroppings every day. The board has a ton of your typical hardcore, “lunatic fringe” fans there. The ones defending him are either 19-year-olds who don’t get it yet, or the ones who would sell their souls to keep on winning. However, every big-time school has that vocal fringe element, and nobody I know and keep in touch with believes that this is a good thing.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:40 AM
And did anyone bother to get the U’s side of the story at the dinner with PSU? Apparantly PSU players said some rather bad/racial things to the U players and were pretty much disrespectful to them so they got up and left. Did they start a fight or anything? No, they just left.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:42 AM
this guy is fraudulent
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:42 AM
im just sick of the U still getting a bad rap after almost 20 years. Get over it people, move on. The univeristy of Florida, like gangsta D said, has been in numerous off campus incidents that are not brought up on here. There are numerous schools that are worse than the U now.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:42 AM
Okay, I’ll say it, and I am the biggest of the big LSU fans:
Unless Jarrett Lee = Sam Bradford, LSU will go 7-5 this year without Perrilloux.
And right now I’ll take it.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:43 AM
+ 10 guiness
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:44 AM
20 years ago, I had a rep for picking my nose in public, but not so much lately. Amazingly, I’ve managed to change in the interim…sort of like Miami perhaps? Maybe?
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:45 AM
guinness, they wore fatigues when they got off the plane, then again to dinner. Jerome Brown stood up, said “Did the Japanese go and sit down and have dinner with Pearl Harbor before they bombed ‘em?”, the rest of the team shouted “NO”, and they stormed out. That seems a little pre-determined to me.
And either way, wearing fatigues to fancy pre-bowl dinner is thug, plain and simple.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:46 AM
Is Matt Flynn still on the team?
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:47 AM
Flynn is alot better than people realized, but without Perriloux lsu doesn’t beat Tenn in the sec chapionship game last year.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:49 AM
A player from PSU made a joke something to the effect of “at Penn State we even let the black players have dinner with us.” I can’t remember the exact quote, but it’s in “‘Cane Mutiny.” After that is when Jerome Brown made his Pearl habor statement.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:51 AM
If former Hurricanes would stop walking around like their shit don’t stink, I don’t think they would have a rep.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:52 AM
Guinnessgirl – yeah, ESPN did:
Wow – that’s really disrespectful/racist, making fun of J.J’s hair and how well you’re own players get along at a skit.
Here’s the full article on the ordeal.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:53 AM
Gang – Come on. Really? Guess the program has been clean in the last 10 years … (i haven’t the time nor energy to look up the recent history; perhaps some other time)
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:54 AM
Irish – you’re right as well. These incidents were 15 to 20 plus years ago and the school has moved on and is no different than most schools now. That being said, they set one hell of precedent.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:54 AM
Hey is it true that The Ohio State University cancelled their game at USC this year?
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:57 AM
20 years ago? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR4l0vMSrlc
Love the color guy’s comments. In a nutshell, the color commentator and Michael Irvin’s ridiculous comments over the years, directly result in the thug view. Outsiders don’t have to write the script, it’s done for them by The U.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:59 AM
And I get that it happened 20 years ago, but plenty has happened since. I can’t count the number of times a U player has either been shot or took shots at someone. I know many times they were the victims, but players getting shot rarely happens anywhere else.
Lets not forget about U grads. Ray Ray covered in blood, The Playmaker lovin his crack, and numerous other incidents with former U players.
I know it happens to every school, but not with the regularity and severity of the U. Like I said, some of the rep is unwarranted, much of it is earned. Lets be clear though, CFB is better when Miami is good and I hope Randy turns things around.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:02 PM
TBL, the only people involved that I can remember are Antrel Rolle(Fight), Robert Marve(Hitting a car mirror), Brandon Merriweather(Firing gun), and Ryan Moore(assault). Charges were dropped against Antrell. No charges were filed against Merriweather. Marve’s case was a misdemeanor. Moore was the most serious, as it was against his girlfriend. That’s pretty much it over the last 5 years or so.
“If I can change. If he can change. We all can change!!!”
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:05 PM
I’d like a little respect for the Vols in thuggery. After all, who’s coach is the competition for most arrests named after anyway?
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:05 PM
Every time someone brings up the U and the NFL, I think of Shockey sulking in the suite during the Super Bowl.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:08 PM
no, that was an April Fools joke…OSU will play USC as scheduled.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:09 PM
Good God! What a moron!
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:14 PM
when i think of the U, i think of ‘me-first’ players who are more hype than production. other than andre johnson, i cant think of one U player whos humble and team first.
and my boy kellen winslow is quickly going down that typical path.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:14 PM
Gangsta, you seem to have really taken this out of context. Bruno’s joke was poking fun at his own Nittany Lions (read: not Miami) and their paucity* of African-American players.
I still get misty when I hear the name Pete Giftopoulos.
*Thanks, Bryant Gumbel
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:17 PM
Let’s not forget the cockiest Hurricane of them all.
Coach Jimmy Johnson
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:26 PM
How can Miami win 5 nat’l titles in less than 20 years with a bunch of me first players? Dennis Erickson and Larry coker are that great of coaches? lol
@consultantnomo, they only had a few black players so the way to make fun of that is to joke that you “allow” them to eat with you once a week? Yep, still not funny no matter what team you root for.
But, it’s whatever. People can have whatever opinions they want. Right now, I’m more concerned with having a QB that doesn’t throw into triple coverage.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:27 PM
spencer: There are plenty of them, you just don’t hear about them. Just to name a few:
Johnathan Vilma, Ed Reed, Frank Gore, etc. There are plenty of solid, good guys who have come from the U. They just have so many players in the NFL, you forget about them.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:30 PM
I guess I must have dreamt the Miami-FIU brawl. Or maybe it was all FIU’s fault.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:34 PM
yea, i know there are a bunch who are good dudes. but there are just as many who are outright dickbags that ruin the school’s image, and unfortunately, most of those dickbags were drafted in the 1st round and are high profile guys.
but vilma is a dickbag, maybe not to a shockey or mckinnie level, but he’s not a fun guy to have on a team unless you like guys who hide injuries and bitch about their contract every year.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:34 PM
Retrospectively, sure. 2008 is not 1987. The same could be said for their “going to war” mentality. It wasn’t offensive as it is in the current climate. Case in point, Kellen Winslow, Jr and his “I’m a fuckin’ soldier!” comment. Ironically, Kellen is a member of my beloved Cleveland Browns. Just can’t seem to recall what school he went too…
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:35 PM
I know, Spencer. I know…
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:45 PM
Can’t believe someone hasn’t brought up The Seventh Floor Crew yet…what’s yo name? G-Reg. What You Do? Get hea….
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:47 PM
No one seems to be offended by Brett Favre being called a warrior…repeatedly…over and over again. But it is what it is. Miami’s rep isn’t changing any time soon, so I’m basically pissing into the wind. Such is life. But I do wonder. What school produces the most humble, anti-dickbag, nice guys each year? Someone should do a study.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:49 PM
hate to say this…but Michigan usually puts out some decent human beings.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:54 PM
As a life-long PSU fan and tOSU alum, it pains me to agree with you.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:56 PM
dont worry, that wont continue with Dick Rod in charge.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:56 PM
I’m not defending the U. They are definitely the quintessential, me first, NFL player producing program in the country that is also the most thug-laden one of the course of its history. I’m just saying there are a few good eggs in there too.
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:27 PM
Gloria Estefan would not be pleased with these comments..
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:30 PM
gloria estefan can go blow a mule.
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:31 PM
When asked why Ryan was still with the team Miles responded “hey, he is a really going to be a good quarterback, and if you look at our roster we need a good QB”
April 2nd, 2008 at 4:34 PM
What a double standard. If Perrilloux were white, the racist comments part would lead Sportcenter and Les Miles would be holding a press conference at 5 PM ET today.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:14 AM
