NFL Draft Peek: McFadden to the Jets?
NFL April 4th. 2008, 4:45pm
FROM THE FOOTBALL EXPERT.COM: Because we haven’t linked up an NFL mock draft in awhile, and April 26 is a mere 22 days away, here’s a Top 10 projection: 1. Miami, Chris Long (Virginia), 2. St. Louis, Jake Long (Michigan), 3. Atlanta, Glenn Dorsey (LSU), 4. Oakland, Vernon Gholston (Ohio State), 5. Kansas City, Matt Ryan (BC), 6. New York Jets, Darren McFadden (Arkansas), 7. New England, Keith Rivers (USC), 8. Baltimore, Ryan Clady (Boise State), 9. Cincinnati, Sedrick Ellis (USC), 10. New Orleans, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (Tennessee State).
These lists are terribly fluid and likely to change at least 47 more times in the next three weeks … but we cannot possibly envision a scenario where the Falcons didn’t draft a QB, Run DMac fell to the Jets, and Baltimore didn’t seriously consider a cornerback or pass-rusher.

TBL–the talk around town is there is no way the Falcons are drafting Matt Ryan. They have so many positions to fill, OL and DL being two major ones. And between Dorsey, Long, Long, Golston, etc., there are many more top notch guys to plug in there. Matt Ryan isn’t the 3rd best player available, he just happens to be the best QB. Kind of like the least stinkiest piece of shit in a shitpile.
They’ll hopefully take one of the Long’s or Dorsey, and maybe take a QB in the late first (trade up, because they have 4 of the first 48 picks) or early 2nd round like Flacco or Henne.

Pieces of shit in said shitpile are offended that you would compare them to Matt Ryan.
I have an idea for the Jets. Trade for Thomas Jones. Run him behind a dogshit line. THEN, instead of fixing the line, draft another running back!!!

This is how ridiculous pre-draft talk is. Some NFL guru called into local sports talk and convinced the host that the Eagles could get McFadden. Yanno, if McFadden falls to 10 or 11 and the Eagles trade up.

Matt Ryan shouldn’t even be selected in the 1st round.

@Nick–agreed. I’m a proponent of the Phil Savage (and others) philosophy of building from the lines first. And that it running backs are a dime a dozen. For instance, did Jamal Lewis suddenly re-discover how to evade tacklers, or did he just get a better line to run behind? Darren McFadden will suck behind that Jets line…it doesn’t matter who you put back there. YOu gotta start with the lines first!

Nick, care to place a wager on this weekend’s series?

Is Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie really that good? Would he still be this high if he didn’t have a cousin?
Maybe it’s just me, and maybe my eyes deceived me when I watched college football this year. But the teams that take DR-C, Mike Jenkins, and Leodis McKelvin are going to regret not drafting Aqib Talib.

Wouldn’t the Jets taking McFadden piss off Thomas Jones, since the Bears did the same thing to him with Benson? Except McFadden is going to be good.

Benson is a fantasy sleeper next year.

@Gonzo: I’d be willing to bet a few virtual dollars on it. I think we’ll win the next 2, but probably lose tonight with Fogg on the hill.
April 4th, 2008 at 6:08 PM
Brian Brohm is much better than Ryan, anyway.
April 4th, 2008 at 6:15 PM
OK. Let’s wager the last 3 games of the series. best of 3. Winner gets a post on TBL. haha.
April 4th, 2008 at 6:24 PM
Aaaaah thought it was a 3 game series only.
I’ll take the Reds to win the series. Winner gets a post.
TBL? Witness?
April 4th, 2008 at 6:32 PM
Nope, it’s a 4 game series. in fact, tonight is the only night game. I’m leaving work, I’ll catch you later tonight if you are here.

TBL, why’d you give AtL dorsey if you couldn’t envision a scenario with them not taking a QB??

Please God let DMC fall to the Jets.
