I know they weren’t practicing their free throws because they shot 60% for the season. I don’t know what other proof you need.

Division I basketball players, with that level of ability and athleticism, should be able to perform a relatively easy task with enough practice. As I said in my post, I’ll grant every team a clunker, like Shaq in your example. And being a great free throw shooter certainly doesn’t mean that you’ll always make them when it counts. But 60% as a team, for a top 5 team? Ridiculous.

If the Memphis beat writers are right, that they practiced free throws as much as anything (which I find extremely hard to believe) then the coaches should have the wherewithal to find another way to teach it to them, because it wasn’t working.

Thats ridiculous. I haven’t heard one rational SU fan say they want Boeheim gone. Not one. We are definitely not bitter and broken, but I guess the SU fans you hang out with are. Check out how excited the fan base is for next year. If thats being broken then fine. The people that are bitter and broken are probably the same ones that want one of the greatest coaches in college basketball history to be fired.

That’s pretty silly, though one could say the same think about our bitterness over Roy. That demon has been exorcised, to say the least.

Sure, it’ll be disappointing if we struggle the next few years, which is very possible with most of our roster leaving and also the possibility of losing self. And I’m sure I will be “devastated” by a few losses here and there. But I will forever remember Mario’s shot. And this championship, and that’s enough to keep me happy for a very long time.

Ans as an OSU fan, that 10-year grace period lasted roughly 4 years, two championship game blowouts later and I’m as far from “good” as it gets.

At least in my office: no. But a hangover has never felt so good.

Trust me TBL, if you haven’t ever been around Jayhawks fans, they are the most insufferable people on earth. Every basket is celebrated like a game-winning shot and every foul against KU is clearly b/c the refs are “screwing them again.€ This is a dark day for Kansas City, Missourians…I for one almost took a sick day.

Yay for generic bitterness! Seriously, though, I’ve met plenty of fellow Jayhawks who are exactly as you say. But every team has a chunk of “insufferable” fans like that.

Anyway, that game was tremendous. I still cannot believe what happened those last two minutes — Sherron’s steal and 3 (but then the ill-advised lay-up attempt). Memphis’s two big starts missing free throws. And Mario’s shot. What is there to say? Truly a miracle.
