I’m late to the party here, but the man made both Billy Madison AND Happy Gilmore. That’s enough for a lifetime free pass with me.

Oh, and the Wedding Singer was pretty damn funny, too.

Seriously, TBL, how have you not seen HappY Gilmore all the way through!?!? A top 5 funniest movie ever. Easily.

Mr. Deeds was awful, and Click was worse, 50 First Dates was boring, Nicky was weak, Anger Management was a paycheck movie for Jack and Adam. Yep, Happy Gilmore will remain his best work.

Personally, I liked Mr. Deeds. And hey, relative to all the other SNL cast members from that era (except for probably Chris Rock) he’s doing quite well.

Not a comedy, but Reign Over Me with Don Cheadles was a good movie. I think Sandler does better when he’s not being his old goofy self. That act is tired and irritating, though he sometimes still tries to shoehorn it into other roles.

I’d liken his career path more to Jim Carrey than to Tom Hanks, but then I hope that Tom Hanks gets in a fiery car crash and crawls to safety only to be eaten alive by hyenas with blunt teeth.
