The Roundup: Blogger Gets Three Years in Jail
Baseball, Bill Simmons, College Basketball, College Football, NBA, NFL, NFL retirees, Video May 15th. 2008, 8:00am
A bit old, but it’s Isla Fisher from Vanity Fair … tonight’s going to be great: One hour of the Office, followed by an hour of Lost … this lawsuit against Jet Blue is hysterical … can Brandon Webb win 30 games? … mom moments that would have made for classic TV … the humor in this is that Spitzer’s girl moved, and the paper was all over her … no! not the mental health of homeowners! … is the world in the crapper, or is everyone just pessimistic? We’ll take the former …
Good read on the 8th grader who committed to Kentucky. (LA Times)

Ryan Perrilloux’s new school? It just kicked its QB off the team. (Play is Under Review)

Never too early for the Tebow-Stafford debate. (Fox)
What the F is Earl Campbell talking about? Cedric Benson was on a boat with his mom and friends. (Bevo Beat)
The Marlins. You’ll enjoy it. (NYT)
If a pelican flies into your face, you might need 26 stitches. (St. Petersburg Times)

Love Isla… I think it’s because of her pyscho girl role in Wedding Crashers.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:11 AM
Am I the only one who had to look up what “pulchritudinous” meant in the Spitzer girl article?
May 15th, 2008 at 8:15 AM
I still don’t think it’s much of a debate between Tebow and Stafford…even as a Georgia alumnus/fan, you have to look at the fact that Tebow has the National Championship (even though he wasn’t the starter, everyone would agree he played a key role on the team) and the Heisman. Of course, Stafford is catching up, and can do a lot this year toward surpassing Tebow. But he’s not quite there yet.

No, Roeth.
At any rate, who wants to do the necessary myspace/facebook diligence on Miss Wisconsin? We’ve got some studs among readers, right?
May 15th, 2008 at 8:20 AM
Excuse me sir, the flight attendant will take your seat now. Please go sit in the bathroom. Yikes!

Everyone is pessimistic.

good read on the first place marlins. That jet blue link was hilarious, cant believe that happened
May 15th, 2008 at 8:29 AM
TBL, i’ve seen that girl around before. she’s just amazing in person. That Ruzzuto shirt she’s wearing if you scroll down is way sweet.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:33 AM
Not quite there? Stafford isn’t even in the same time zone as Tebow. He was like, what, the 5th best QB in the SEC last year? I know he was a decorated recruit and has a big arm, but I don’t get why everyone continues to act like he’s a great QB. Maybe this year will be the year, but up until this point, that debate is hilariously nonexistent.

May 15th, 2008 at 8:36 AM

Speak for yourself, Mr. PM Roundup. I’ve got a bet to win!
/going to costco this weekend to buy the itunes cards in anticipation of losing

Sean John, it’s because Georgia is THE hot team in all the preseason jaw-flapping, and someone from the team that would be the consensus #1 (if not for their schedule) has to get the Bush/Quinn “woo best player evar”) media fellatio. Why not the QB? It’s probably the only player on the team whose name is known by most of the mainstream media…
May 15th, 2008 at 8:43 AM
Whatever. Simmer down Mr. Universe.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:43 AM
funny story about the pelican hitting a tourist visiting Florida. Made it even better to find out she was from Toledo, Ohio.
a plastic surgeon gave her 26 stitches inside and outside her mouth after the pelican flew into her face.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:43 AM
stafford > tebow
only because of the keg lifting pics
May 15th, 2008 at 8:44 AM
Jack: I completely agree. Although Moreno is probably the big name, the big time recruit QB (even though he is a very average player up to this point) has to get praised.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:45 AM
we really can’t get an accurate gauge of stafford until we see his arm candy, right?
i didn’t think he was anything special last year, but benefitted mostly from a strong running game.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:45 AM
anyone have video or link to that Manny Ramirez catch?
May 15th, 2008 at 8:46 AM
TBL: Tebow’s Godzilla biscuits are going to be hard to beat.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:49 AM
just noticed the top comment on that pelican story:
“by Pelican May 12, 2008 3:58 PM
Oops! Sorry!”
hahaha. fucking toledo residents….
May 15th, 2008 at 8:51 AM
I consider myself a stud, yes
Fabio is not impressed by the pelican story.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:54 AM
@Jack – you couldn’t be more wrong. The guy everyone slobbers over is Knowshon Moreno, not Stafford.
@Sean John – Settle down, bro…sit the next couple of plays out. I said on my blog earlier this week (hey, if Hef can do it, I can too!) that Stafford isn’t in the same league as Tebow. I think as a UGA fan that’s quite objective of me, no?
May 15th, 2008 at 9:03 AM
atl: Word up. I agree. It’s just funny to see someone compare the two, because that comparison has absolutely no basis at all. Plus, you know, I hate UGA football (although I also hate Florida).
May 15th, 2008 at 9:07 AM
I think the comparison arises from what the story talked about…how they’re the same age and have been compared since their sophomore years in high school – and then they go to huge rival schools in college. The comparison is inevitable. It’s not a fair comparison at this point, but it’s there.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:10 AM
@Sean Jean
We hate Florida too!

May 15th, 2008 at 9:11 AM
Oh, and I hate Tennessee too. And Florida. Most of my hate for Tennessee stems from an obnoxious co-worker UT grad. I can talk to him about anything and he’ll turn it into a UGA/UT discussion. Here’s a typical conversation:
Me: “Hey, did you hear about that shooting over the weekend? Pretty crazy, huh?”
Him: “Yeah, it was probably a Georgia fan, still angry that we beat you guys in Ultimate Frisbee two weeks ago.”
Me: “Yeah. Probably. So how was your weekend?”
Him: “Good. I watched a replay of the Tennessee/Georgia game from 1987. Reggie Cobb, baby!”
Me: “Cool.”
I fucking hate that guy.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:14 AM
i dont hate florida, just jean shorts
May 15th, 2008 at 9:16 AM
atl: lol. Yeah we’re cool like that. That guy sounds like a pain in the ass though. Kind of like the UGA-UT game last year when we cruised to a 35-14 victory.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:23 AM
That jet-blue story is funny as hell.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:26 AM
Sean John – Wait…where do you work? Are you my co-worker?
May 15th, 2008 at 9:28 AM
See you at the water cooler bro. Go vols.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:35 AM
atlantasportsfan: I agree that Moreno is the real engine that powers that offense, but I don’t read about him nearly as often as I see stuff about Stafford.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:41 AM
So the kid who signed with UK had to repeat the 7th grade. Are Kentucky admission standards really that low? Damn my luck for passing classes in a timely manner.
May 15th, 2008 at 2:33 PM
Anyone else ever fly Jet Blue? Ever seen an employee, including pilots and co-pilots, that looks over 25, tops?

So, technically, they’ve signed two 8th graders. That makes it all better. I mean they are teenagers.
