Bill Simmons did a pretty good job explaining the Celtics’ mindset earlier this week. Basically, they’re a bunch of guys who have never won anything (Except for James Posey of course.) who keep doing interviews where they talk about how important winning is. Why, just this morning I awoke to the site of Kevin Garnett and Bill Russell talking to each other:

Russell envisions KG winning at least 2-3 titles in Boston. (He’s obviously heading down the road to senility – I see 1 as a much more realistic max.) And if he doesn’t win any… he’ll share one of his titles with KG. (Again, doesn’t make much sense.) Wow.

Of course, let’s not think that LeBron is above the puff:

It’s not quite Brad Daugherty telling him there’s always a future in NASCAR coverage, but whatever. (Full disclosure: I have my zip code tattooed on my arm.) I have to say, it was nice to see LBJ’s buddy call him on the third person thing.

Either way, tune in to ABC at 3:30 to see if LeBron puts Akron on the map or Kevin Garnett makes Bill Russell cry tears of sadness or joy. I’ll be back with an update at half-time.
