Media News and Notes
Media Gossip/Musings May 21st. 2008, 4:20pm
News and Notes from the sports media world. And some non-sports media items, too.
“In the process of conducting an interview, Brewers third baseman Wes Helms farts in my face.” In our opinion, this is one of the funniest pieces we’ve read in Page 2 in quite some time. Problem is, Jeff, you have to include the John Rocker incident. We’re not sure if that was his call, or ESPN’s, but it’s completely newsworthy. This is so brilliant, that we plan on copying it this summer. With Pearlman’s seal of approval, ok. (Page 2)
Spygate is the most disgraceful episode in recent sports media history. Detailed, and certainly worth a read. It makes us sorry we didn’t get more involved in this story. (Boston Sports Media Watch)
We’re as geeked as anyone to see Indiana Jones this weekend, but to review it on the front-page of a major newspaper? Weak.
Where can you hear the Dan Patrick show? Not enough places, apparently. (Sports by Brooks)
A DC Sports Bog double dip: The Redskins absolutely detest the Washington Post and the Skins are hiring a blogger.
Whitlock vs. Playboy will not die! (Real Clear Sports)
All the mainstream media outlets who loathe You Tube and want to shut it down.

That’s too bad Playboy did that to Whitlock. I am a big fan of Whitlock and truly enjoy his thoughts and opinions.
Now that gives me a reason to go buy this months issue of Playboy. I love the articles

Wow, no mention of the disgraceful slobbering of KG by the national media all year. I guess they’ll only talk about when the media tells the truth about their beloved Cheatriots.

I just got done reading the Whitlock article, and although my opinions may be biased after reading what Whitlock said on this site and others, that title really did come out of left field. That was an excellent article too.
Oh, and the centergold for this month isn’t bad either.

what the Mitchell report wasn’t a big deal? Spygate focused on one team. The Mitchell report named a lot of names of cheaters who used HGH and steroids.

Pearlman article is definitely worth a read.

May 21st, 2008 at 4:50 pm
@irish. Not sure who it is, but yes, worth the buy for sure.

yeah, i have no idea who she is, but there’s nothing you could do to make her any better than she appears in the mag

@Onterrio. Did you notice that under weight she didn’t answer? Don’t know why I noticed that, but that girl has nothing, I mean NOTHING to be emberrased about.

@irish – I’m still torn over which is worst for sports: the widespread use of PEDs, the Donaghy scandal, or Spygate. Regardless, players, officials, and coaches are all complicit in giving the games we love a serious black eye.
@ark, Onterrio, irish – People still buy Playboy? I’d be interested in seeing the sales numbers, as I just figured the internet (dailyniner.com, among several, seems to have the pictorials for free regularly) took a huge chunk out of such publications. Decent articles, from what I recall, but still…
re: Patrick – Never quite understood why he left the WWL–and left them for SI. Seems like a bit of a step down, IMHO, but ESPN seems to be bleeding personalities of late…so perhaps there is something to what Simmons and others have been saying about management.
