Bright Idea: Let’s Take the Keys and the Credit Card!
Campus Crime, College Football June 3rd. 2008, 1:05pm
Think Bill Stewart had any idea what he was getting himself into when he accepted the West Virginia football coaching gig after Rich Rodriguez bolted for Michigan? The Orange Bowl Fiesta Bowl destruction of Oklahoma was one thing, and next year’s preseason Top 5 ranking is swell – but the arrests and allegations, not so much. The latest: Senior starter Charles Pugh, who had a ‘penchant for committing personal foul penalties,’ found a set of keys at the student union. Turn them in? Nah. Let’s go out to the parking lot and hit the panic button to identify the car! Then, Pugh found a credit card in the vehicle and used that a couple times. Brilliant!
Pugh should learn his fate soon.

amazing how moronic and immature some of these guys are.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:10 PM
reason 2,388,548 why College Football rocks: you don’t see crimes like this in any other sport.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:14 PM
SEEMS like a good idea.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:14 PM
That wasn’t part of the deal Blackheart, that wasn’t part of the deeeeeeeal….
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:16 PM
mini-threadjack
terrible trampoline accident
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:18 PM
sorry benji, no way that’s real. the dude goes there and sits down and puts his one leg up – totally staged
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:18 PM
I bet Coker and Bowden just laughed when they heard about this.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:19 PM
He should at least get some college credits out of the deal for independent thinking.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:20 PM
Pacman and Chris Henry are not impressed… not at all.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:20 PM
PacMan thinks this shit is weak
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:20 PM
Rodriguez may be gone, but his legacy of recruiting shitty individuals still lives on in Morgantown.
Lock the doors and hide the kids Ann Arbor.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:21 PM
i didn’t watch when he sat down. i just watching the jumper until he flew off and smashed the leg. i was just thinking it’s probably not real.
just rewatched and you’re very right.

I went to WVU once to visit a friend during the WVU Elite Eight run. The beat Texas Tech to get to the sweet sixteen and cars were on fire in the middle of the street. It was a combination of the greatest time of my life/the end of Deep Impact
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:26 PM
Hahaha, grossed out my girlfriend with it, she doesn’t need to know it’s not real.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:26 PM
It is the kids, not the guy who recruits them, who do these stupid things. Let’s not blaim Rich Rod for a very small percentage of his former team acting like idiots. Can we get a post about how 98% of the kids he recruited DIDN’T do stupid shit? Oh, no? Right because that wouldn’t be news worthy…
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:27 PM
At least put both legs on the table to try and make it look less staged.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:30 PM
Plus they are in college — at least wait until they turn pro to make this “news.”
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:32 PM
the kid looks to be walking normal when he goes to sit down. but the leg breaking sounds exactly like wood breaking.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:34 PM
I hope if I ever have a penchant for anything it’s something positive.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:35 PM
@ Magglio: I’ll give you some credit for sticking up for Rich Rod because he recruited Pat White as well, and Pat is a hell of a kid who always seems to do things the right way.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:36 PM
Let’s call it the Fiesta Bowl destruction instead.

\Dick joke.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:42 PM
seems a little disingenuous to insult OSU and cooper/tressel yet give RR a free pass despite having a litany of assholes come thru his program while he’s in charge.
not trying to start shit, but it can’t go both ways.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:44 PM
@spence
How many “assholes” have come through Michigan? Because I think you know I couldn’t give a flying shit about the wvu program or their “assholes” Let’s let him recruit his “assholes” at UM before we nail him to the cross shall we?
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:46 PM
I’d rather do it now, thank you
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:48 PM
Mags…right, and ill cede that point to you every day of the week. but im not talking about RR at UM, im talking about RR at WVU, and it can’t be denied that he has recruited some grade-A assholes there.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:50 PM
@ Magglio: could we just burn him at the stake? I’m no expert on Crucifixions, but they seem like a lot of clean-up.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:51 PM
Can we just skip to the end of this agrument? Here, I’ll finish it for everyone…
mags – Ohio State sucks!
spence – Michigan sucks way worse!
There, that looks about right.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:53 PM
red wings suck…what say you now?
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:54 PM
I don’t think you can look past the douchbaggery at WVU. Every school has kids who turn out to be trouble, everyone. However there is a reason WVU went from a 7 win team for most of history to winning 11 games a year, they took chances on kids no one else would touch. I’m not saying its wrong, some of those kids turned it around and are better for it, but some of them turned out to be the headache everyone expected.
I think at Mich RR won’t have to do this because they can recruit with anyone, but at WVU he knew he had to take some chances.
June 3rd, 2008 at 1:56 PM
that’s about the sum of it.
and the red wings don’t suck.
June 3rd, 2008 at 2:01 PM
Forgot to add that after embarrassing themselves to entire country by acting like a jilted lover and hiring a nice guy career assistant that WVU will now return to being the 7 win afterthought they are accustomed to being.
June 3rd, 2008 at 2:10 PM
Well I am glad this didn’t have to get ugly. Thank you coop. Well said.
June 3rd, 2008 at 2:11 PM
Mags – We get it, you love all things Michigan. Got it, really.
So if Rich Rod was at OSU now, you would have nary a word to say about the character of the kids that he recruited while at WVU?
June 3rd, 2008 at 2:11 PM
lets just make fun of WVU, they’re an easy target.
June 3rd, 2008 at 2:14 PM
Dirty Sanchez, you can’t really get on a guy for doing what he had to do to win at wvu. He did things he probably shouldn’t have and he won, he made them matter, he left and they hate him for it. And, of course, if he went to osu I would totally badger that bitch. I hate osu. You love wvu. I love Michigan. You hate that I love Michigan. You get on my nuts about it. I frequently lose my marbles about it. You all laugh. We all win.
June 3rd, 2008 at 2:42 PM
Pieces of shit like this really piss me off. As someone who has worked his ass off for everything I have (not like I’m the only one, I know), it burns me up to think that someone would steal part of that from me…someone that is a worthless piece of shit, that definitely doesn’t deserve it. I don’t care who recruited him, or who coaches him now. He’s a fucking sack of shit that doesn’t deserve a free ride to any school. I hope he ends up cleaning the bathrooms in the Morgantown Exxon.
/end rant. Whew! I feel better.
June 3rd, 2008 at 2:49 PM
Speaking of wv/cards/tosu. I do believe that randy moss’ bro had a similar episode.
June 3rd, 2008 at 3:47 PM
I agree with everything that you said Mags, with the exception of me loving that backward ass WVU. I’m a Terp alum/fan and a Pitt fan, so basically I keep quiet during football season.
