Once a year ESPN The Magazine gets taken over by the athletes it covers for its annual “Athletes Issue,†and this year football star Chad Johnson not only is The Magazine’s guest editor-in-chief, he is also on its cover and host of its annual “Revenge of the Jocks†party in Los Angeles at X BAR! The party will feature a special live performance by recording artist Amarie and will be co-hosted by The Mag’s newest columnist Rick Reilly.
The 2008 “Athletes Issue,†on newsstands Wednesday, June 4, will include a Chad Johnson-cover story, everything you wanted to know about Chad and then some; an exciting investigative feature by Baron Davis, within which Baron picks the brain of Kobe Bryant on what it takes to win a championship; and “Jock Snaps†– a photo gallery of photos taken by athletes of athletes…guest photographers include snowboarders Danny Davis and Kevin Pearce, skier Lindsay Vonn, NHLers Georges Laraque and George Parros, basketball player Tyson Chandler, football player Antonio Pierce and boxer Shane Mosley.

I saw Simmons in Vegas All-Star weekend last year. He didn’t look exceedingly tall.

I met Bill Simmons at the Maxim Party for the Pats-Eagles SB. He seemed mellow drunk, so he could’ve been slouching, but he was no taller than me (5′11″).
