Tony Romo Hits the Big-Time: Us Weekly Cover
Athletes and Celebrities June 4th. 2008, 2:00pm
He has yet to record a playoff victory, but he has romanced Carrie Underwood, Sophia Bush – albeit briefly – and now Jessica Simpson. As a result of dating one of the sexiest women in Hollywood – yup, we’re fans of Simpson – Tony Romo finds himself in an awkward spot: The cover Us Weekly. More shocking? According to the SI Vault, Romo has yet to land himself on a Sports Illustrated cover.
Dallas fans, remain calm – he’s one of the best QBs in the league, regardless of whom he’s dating.

June 4th, 2008 at 2:07 PM
Not sure who i would rather talk about less Simmons or Romo/Simpson so…
Even though Kobe’s in the Finals, LeBron is so much better…
June 4th, 2008 at 2:07 PM
i agree middle of the road celebrity talent there…he needs to upgrade to something with a little less miles on the engine
June 4th, 2008 at 2:07 PM
But how much of it is due to the large number of awful QBs in the league right now? I’m not taking a swipe at Romo, I actually kind of like him. I’m just posing a serious question because that last line kind of caught me by surprise.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:07 PM
Sophia Bush >>>> all Romo’s chicks
June 4th, 2008 at 2:08 PM
Romo
Jess is pretty damn close to flawless. (Physically)
June 4th, 2008 at 2:08 PM
@spence
Did you see the frinkley toe. EEEEWWWWWW
June 4th, 2008 at 2:09 PM

June 4th, 2008 at 2:10 PM
plus, she has just a hint of webbing.
ewww! Get them toes fixed ladies
June 4th, 2008 at 2:10 PM
I had this gnawing, aching feeling deep in the darkest recesses of my soul and for some time now I haven’t figured out what it’s about…then it was solved, more discussion of Romo and Simpson. Thank God that has been solved.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:11 PM
You all wouldn’t like Jessica if she wasn’t white.
Isn’t there a website dedicated to them? hotchickswithdouchebags.com or something.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:12 PM
@Happy: damn straight I wouldn’t like her
June 4th, 2008 at 2:12 PM
I would shave Romo’s taint for a 5 second blubber session with Jessica’s boobs.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:13 PM
He’ll never do what Steve Pelluer or Babe Laufenberg did.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:13 PM
This is my favorite Jess pic. Unfortunately it is safe for work.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:14 PM
nice pic of her TBL. big fan of her chest and looks
June 4th, 2008 at 2:15 PM
Clown, when will your hemorrhoids be gone?
June 4th, 2008 at 2:16 PM
tomorrow, sportsgal. that’s the last time I bet on Longhorn baseball.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:17 PM
See, this is why I love this place; the general concern for each other’s well being.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:17 PM
Romo has yet to land himself on a Sports Illustrated cover.
Peter King will have this corrected immediately.
/PK still thinks Romo leads the league in smiles
June 4th, 2008 at 2:17 PM
I like her mind.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:18 PM
I hear preparation H is good for them..
June 4th, 2008 at 2:19 PM
She looks…smart.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:19 PM
i cant wait till shaun rogers and corey williams sit on romo’s face in week 1.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:19 PM
He is probably on that second tier with Palmer, Brees and Big Ben. (But behind all of them.)
June 4th, 2008 at 2:19 PM
fixed now that Favre is out of the league.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:20 PM
I like her for her articles.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:20 PM
@spencer
It wont be shaun on third down. He will be the guy on the stretcher with the gas mask attached to his manatee face trying to breathe.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:20 PM
It’s the Summer of Romo people, brace yourselves!
June 4th, 2008 at 2:21 PM
He is probably on that second tier with Palmer, Brees and Big Ben. (But behind all of them.)
Jeff Garcia thinks that’s hot.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:21 PM
@Mike NYC: I would probably agree with you. I can’t decide if he’s at the bottom of that 2nd tier, or at the top of the 3rd tier (with Derek Anderson, Garrard, Hasselback).
June 4th, 2008 at 2:22 PM

June 4th, 2008 at 2:23 PM
August +1
if it looks like a rat…
June 4th, 2008 at 2:23 PM
@ St. Bear & Mike NYC: Easy killer, Hasselbeck>>>>>Bees.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:24 PM
true story…in all seriousness, all the browns beat writers have been saying he looks great, motivated and in shape…ill believe that when i see it for a whole season.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:25 PM
As a Cowboys fan I could care less what tabloids Romo shows up on because he is banging a celeb. The only thing I care about is that the guy lining up during the game has the last name Romo and not Hutchinson, Henson, Bledsoe, Carter, Wright, Beuerlein, Cunningham, Leaf or Testaverde.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:25 PM
Hasselbeck >>>>>Brees, I mean.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:26 PM
either way August, your still wrong
June 4th, 2008 at 2:27 PM
Hollywood? Does she live there?
June 4th, 2008 at 2:28 PM
Is this the point where I mention the Super Bowl MVP?
June 4th, 2008 at 2:28 PM
“This is going to be the best summer ever!” says Oh No Romo
June 4th, 2008 at 2:28 PM
I don’t know. I think Hasselbeck is much steadier (and there’s a lot to be said about that), but he doesn’t really jump out as someone who can go out and win a game for you.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:29 PM
@spencer
I love him though really, he was the best player on our team. If anyone says other wise, they don’t know shit. Our state is great at not liking our most talented guy for some stupid ass reason (ex. Sheed) and running them out of town. Shaun may not have played on third down, but he was a fucking LOAD on downs one and two. He basically makes a 3-4 possible. I wouldn’t have traded him if I were the Lions GM, of course I, much like the scarecrow, have a brain.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:29 PM
@RWH: I thought about him after I posted. He’s in that 3rd tier as well. And he’s only the MVP because he was the QB of the winning team, not because of how he played (much like Brady).
June 4th, 2008 at 2:31 PM
St. Bear…place him on whatever imaginary tier you please…he is the Super Bowl MVP of the World Champion New York Football Giants…every other QB in the league wishes they were him right now…
June 4th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
Roman, can’t argue with that.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
Mags…yea, he’s unstoppable when motivated, but i can kind of understand a player not being juiced to play for a Millen-ran team and everything. i feel for you dude, on the NFL front.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
YYSA you couldn’t care less.
Sorry to be grammar police, that just always catches my eye when people make that mistake.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:33 PM
Ha. To be fair I think Eli actually belongs on the Matt Schaub imaginary tier.
And Brady’s first SB MVP was weak but not his second.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:33 PM
I could give really good sex to her cause I’m really good at sex.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:34 PM
Mike..Matt Schaub…come on? Can the guy play 10 games before we compare him to a guy who played in 3 stright playoffs and won a Super Bowl…
June 4th, 2008 at 2:36 PM
brady quinn wishes he was shaq’s wife.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:37 PM
I would put Romo among the top 10 QBs in the league, perhaps even top 5.
Manning, Brady, Roethlisberger, McNabb and then you’ve got a large group of other guys who are very good, but I don’t think elite: Brees, Romo, Hasselbeck, Eli Manning, C Palmer.
I think Rivers, Garrard and V Young are close to that group, but probably not yet there.
It helps Romo that he has weapons, where a guy like McNabb doesnt.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:39 PM
garrard? you mean David “throw the ball 15 times per game and have everyone say how great it is i don’t throw any INT’s” Garrard? give me a break…FRAUD! FRAUD!!!
June 4th, 2008 at 2:39 PM
kobe > romo > lebron
June 4th, 2008 at 2:39 PM
Chad Palmer was so very, very close.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:40 PM
spence, that’s what Rothlesbergaldhsd did his first couple years in the league.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:42 PM
St. Bear…yea, agreed, but Big Ben is a pretty fuckin good QB now. give me derek anderson’s 2007-08 over Garrard’s 2007-08 any day. ill take a QB who can actually score rather than a pussy check-downer.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
Anyone who would list Young, Garrard, and Rivers over Cutler needs their head examined.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:47 PM
Yeah, remember when Cutler blew the Broncos playoff hopes in 2006? That was good stuff.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
Yeah, crazy that a rookie couldn’t lead his team to the playoffs in the AFC. What a loser.
June 4th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
A jr. Maj. There’s nothing wrong with waiting until others speak and attempting to jumping down their throat … but if you want to put Cutler in that mix, after just 21 games by all means.
The other three QBs you just dismissed have played 30 games or more, so nearly two full seasons. I feel that right now, they’re all ahead of Cutler.
June 4th, 2008 at 3:04 PM
Mike NYC, Rivers did it in his first season with real snaps.
June 4th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
Nice sentence structure there TBL.
June 4th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
I’m a Rivers fan. But it was also his third year and he had/has a lot more talent around him. Not really a fair comparison.
June 4th, 2008 at 3:09 PM
I think Rivers made “the jump” last year…I think instead of his talent pulling him along next year he is going to make his talent better…Cutler is not there yet and of course he has lower talent around him
June 4th, 2008 at 3:24 PM
TBL – I think you were in such a rush to counter what I said that your thoughts were flying around faster than your fingers could type them out. Also, there’s no need to put words in my mouth. I dismissed no quarterback, I simply changed your rankings by adding Cutler ahead of Garrard, Rivers, and Young. Especially Young. I mean, my God, he’s awful.
June 4th, 2008 at 3:26 PM
Cutler certainly goes ahead of Young, who is just not very good at all.
June 4th, 2008 at 3:28 PM
VY is better than cutler at 2 things:
1. not having diabetes
2. having awful tattoos.
(well maybe 3 if we consider dancing around with other guys sans shirt and raising questions)
June 4th, 2008 at 4:12 PM
VY is going to be much, much better than Rivers.
