Rick Carlisle Is Getting To Know His New Team
NBA June 14th. 2008, 2:00pmSay what you will about Rick Carlisle, but the guy is taking a hands-on approach to his new team. This week, he’s in Germany chillin’ with Dirk Nowitzk. From 106,9 Radio Gong Wurzburg (via Dallas Basketball):
Die besten Bilder aus dem Nachtleben: die Gong Partyfotografen sind mit ihren Kameras im Nachtleben unterwegs – z.B. in Würzburg und im Mainfrankenpark. Außerdem gehen wir für Euch auf Weinfeste, Studentenpartys und in Biergärten
What? Those in German and might have nothing to do with the pictures? Who cares! It’s an athlete of his athletic field!I’m just thinking about all the success that is waiting for the Mavs next season. In addition to enjoying June-tober-fest with Dirk, Rick Carlisle has been spending time with some of his other new coachees (Dallas Morning News):
He has spent time chatting and sweating on the court with Josh Howard and Jason Terry. He has had dinners with Jason Kidd and Stackhouse, among others.
I’m guessing he hung out with Josh Howard before he went to dinner. Ha! Seriously though, good for Carlisle. Get to know your players. Team unity and whatnot. I’m sure it will add up to another first round loss, but who cares?
As for the Germany trip – I’m guessing Carlisle and Nowitzki watched some soccer and drank some beer, but I have no way of telling since I don’t speak German. If somebody wants to look it up, that’d be great. Here’s another picture of the new BFF’s.

Unfortunately, the language you quoted has nothing to do with the pictures posted other than they are the best pictures of the “Nightlife” from the “Gong” photographers in Mainfrankenpark and Wuerzburg. But, I’m pretty sure they were watching a soccer match, what with the German flags painted on Carlisle and Nowitzki’s faces. That sort of nationalism only seems to appear for soccer in Germany. Otherwise, they try not to have too much of it because of the German shame for certain historical events.

I figured they were probably watching Euro 2008, but I didn’t want to publish such baseless accusations.

There’s nothing wrong with watching soccer and drinking beer. That’s what I’m doing now, in fact.
