White Sox 5, Cubs 1: The Sox belted three homers, upping their season total to 109, and Mark Buehrle pitched seven innings, striking out five. The Sox swept the Cubbies a week after being swept by the Cubbies, and both teams hold less than a three-game lead in the divisions central.

Rays 4, Pirates 3: Since April 19, the Rays are 42-22, and reached first place at the official halfway point of the season thanks to their win and a Boston loss. They’ve been in first place for 23 days this year, after holding the same standing for 21 days the previous 10 years.

Tigers 4, Rockies 3: At the end of May, the Tigers were 23-32, but have finally gone over .500 with a sweep of the Rockies and an 18-8 record in June. The bad news: Magglio Ordonez was placed on the 15 day DL with a strained/pulled oblique muscle.

Marlins 4, Diamondbacks 3: The inverse of the surging Tigers are the slumping Diamondbacks. After a 2-7 road trip, the D-Backs are 41-41, and hold a 2.5 game edge on the 38-43 Dodgers. And yea, if you’re paying attention, the D-Backs are now a half game worse than the Tigers. The Marlins trail the Phillies by a game in the NL East.

Angels 1, Dodgers 0: John Lackey struck out nine, downed his ERA to 1.44 and improved to 6-1 on the season. F. Rodriguez notched his 32nd save and the Angels left Chavez Ravine with one run in three games.
