Courts, Legal, Drugs, NFL July 10th. 2008, 9:33am
Is this why the Jags are considering moving? We kid. Apparently, the Jones arrest went down five hours ago. The NFL’s offseason arrest binge continues.

Dammit. Thought maybe we had this before PFT … but no. Nine minutes.
One day, if we’re lucky …
July 10th, 2008 at 9:38 AM
Speed? Cause I wouldn’t trust him to hold onto a joint.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:38 AM
i always liked matt jones and thought he could be the best WR in the NFL

July 10th, 2008 at 9:39 AM

July 10th, 2008 at 9:41 AM
Hey, at least Arkansas has Petrino. He’s a good dude…that molests babies.
/Falcons fan reaching just to insult that fuckbag Petrino
July 10th, 2008 at 9:42 AM
Scouts were falling all over themselves to praise this guy’s potential. Tremendous speed and “athleticism”. But, the guy had hands of stone and was a bit fragile.
Nevertheless, he’s a nice pick-up for the Mean Machine.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:42 AM
Stokely is next.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:45 AM
Asshat
July 10th, 2008 at 9:45 AM
with his speed and his crappy hands, not sure how he didn’t get away without it?
July 10th, 2008 at 9:45 AM
TBL…couldnt find it.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:47 AM
just out of curiosity, anyone know the “list” of controlled substances?
July 10th, 2008 at 9:47 AM
This is the same guy that wouldn’t shave his beard until he caught a TD last year.
He prob looks like a ZZ Top member by now.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:48 AM
He’s a WR by the way TBL…although itd probably be pretty amusing to watch him try to block someone.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:49 AM
You should have kept him listed as a TE TBL…itd probably be pretty amusing to watch him try to block someone.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:49 AM
He was a fun QB to watch in college, but beyond that, I didn’t see why he got drafted. Good athlete, but so are a lot of people…
July 10th, 2008 at 9:49 AM
its codified in the controlled substances act
July 10th, 2008 at 9:49 AM
i heard that pot is actually considered a controlled substance in Arkansas. Which is backwards from most other states, which is implied when one says Arkansas.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:49 AM
Damnit…didn’t think the first one posted…I guess im the asshole
July 10th, 2008 at 9:50 AM
I think these are charges are trumped up. This is impossible. I mean look at him…he looks like a good kid…I mean you know what I’m saying right? I mean not like the other guys..a good kid. I mean come on. You see what I am saying? You see it.

You just had to put that link to the article about the jags possibly moving. As if my wednesday night wasnt ruined enough, now my thursday morning is as well.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:51 AM
I just read a couple days ago he was down there doing a football camp.
Nice role model.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:52 AM
Easy now sparty.
There are lots of rumors going around here about what happened. The latest that I heard was that he was with a group of 5 or 6 people lining up lines of blow. Pretty hard to say. He was with two other guys from the team he graduated with though.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:53 AM
HI-YO!!!

Drafting a converted QB in the first round was just mind boggling. He’s tall, he runs a fast 40, ergo he must be a top notch WR. Now that’s science.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:55 AM
hopefully, he wasn’t with any campers at 411 am when he was cuffed and stuffed
July 10th, 2008 at 9:56 AM
how the hell did Eric Crouch not go day 1?
July 10th, 2008 at 9:57 AM
Well at least the Jaguars can finally get rid of this clown and begin their quest to Tampa.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:57 AM
where’d he get the blow?
I thought Jimmy Smith retired from the Jags?!??
July 10th, 2008 at 9:58 AM
wasn’t he drafted at the end of the first round? am i thinking of someone else?
July 10th, 2008 at 9:59 AM
Jimmy smith is a saint!
July 10th, 2008 at 9:59 AM
do we even know what he got busted with? He could of had Aleve. Police drug kits have been known to be wrong. Aleve shows up as amphetamines on Police drug kits
July 10th, 2008 at 10:00 AM
I tried to hook you up!
July 10th, 2008 at 10:01 AM
was he? maybe i am wrong then. i thought for sure he was passed on.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:02 AM
he went in the third or fourth
July 10th, 2008 at 10:02 AM
While everyones here let me go ahead and say the jags are winning the super bowl this season. Thanks for listening
July 10th, 2008 at 10:03 AM
Crouch was drafted in 3rd round by Martz…
July 10th, 2008 at 10:04 AM
@jeffajax-The World Champion New York Football Giants scoff at that.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:04 AM
so he did go day 1, just not 1st round.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:06 AM
… and let me go ahead and say the Texans are beating the Jags at least once this year. Mario is a beast.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:09 AM
@grungedave- thats a given.
the jags will also lose a game to the colts on the road, but they will win out the rest and finish with a 14-2 record.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:09 AM
this is true…he was the only guy to beat Joe Thomas last year.
but they ain’t beatin the jags.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:10 AM
And let me say maybe when we are resting our starters…I kid I kid im sure they will beat them once…damn texans…mario is a beast though…isn’t a jags texans game monday night december 1st I believe
July 10th, 2008 at 10:11 AM
BUT REGGIE BUSH IS A SURE THING
July 10th, 2008 at 10:17 AM
irish – per the most recent link TBL posted, he was busted for coke possession.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:17 AM
JEFF… try actually tackling Andre Davis next time.
Just a suggestion.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:18 AM
Its Matt Jones in the Fayetteville babie!! Hes was the greatest thing since Corliss Williamson to come out of Arkansas and the police couldnt turn their head. I would have been like Matt give an autographed ball and its all good.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:20 AM
well slap me sportsgal. i didnt see the update. Dont forget your free slurpee tomorrow
July 10th, 2008 at 10:20 AM
Hmmmm tackling…that’s an interesting concept…ill go down to training camp and run it by them…ill let you know how that goes
July 10th, 2008 at 10:23 AM
@TampaBo. Knowing how the cops are around here, I can almost gaurentee they were giddy about busting him. Typical machoism with the police force around here. He’s lucky they didn’t try to shoot him, they get pretty trigger happy around here quite often.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:25 AM
Thanks for that 7/11 tip Irish.
I’m getting the blue Rockstar Slurpee tomorrow. I’ll get a couple of brain freezes in while I’m filling up and then top off for the rest of the commute.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:26 AM
JEFFaJAX…are the jags expecting Mike Pete back at full strength this year?
July 10th, 2008 at 10:28 AM
Yeah he should be back and good to go but even if he isn’t the jags are loaded at LB with smith ingram and durant
July 10th, 2008 at 10:31 AM
@arkbadger. I went to college in Little Rock durring the Matt Jones Era. Hes was like Jesus Christ down there. I guess you have be on the current U of A roster to get love.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:37 AM
Was indeed cocaine.
Here is the police report.
All I can say is if Matt Jones can be arrested, no one is safe. He walked on water around here…
July 10th, 2008 at 10:39 AM
@Tampa. UALR huh? Yeah, I was in school here at the UA he was a god. Dude pretty much did what he wanted.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:40 AM
irish – there’s no way I’m forgetting the free slurpee. I’ve already put it in my day planner, and I’ve got four 7-11’s I plan on hitting up for slurpee’s. I fully expect to be high on sugar for the whole day.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:40 AM
@ Jeffajax. what about the news here in jville. i feel better with weavers statement but man, still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. i guess if we were all sold out this woulndt be an issue.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:44 AM
Yeah I think all is well for now but weaver is getting up there age wise and you never know who will wind up with the team afterwards…I wouldn’t think many people would keep it in Jax unless we consistently sell out leading up to whenever Weaver does eventually sell.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:46 AM
don’t waste your life sportsgal. getting high is not the answer.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:47 AM
Damn I wish we had 7-11’s here.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:55 AM
I fully expect to be high on sugar for the whole day.
The route Matt Jones should have taken.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Can someone explain to me why it’s called a “controlled” substance? Why not say “illegal drug?”
July 10th, 2008 at 11:30 AM
codeine laced cough syrup is a legal substance but it’s controlled because of it’s effects. same with cold pills that are used to make meth.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:56 AM
cutting up cocaine with a credit card….cue Playmakers. now we can confirm why the NFL had ESPN pull the show after 1 season…it was too much like the NFL actually is.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Why the hell was he doing it in a car, and with a credit card no less?
When will these dumbasses learn that they have mansions where no cops will bother them and inside of those mansions they can do all the drugs they want and never have to worry.
July 10th, 2008 at 5:10 PM
But … but … Matt Jones is a good Christian boy. Why, there was article after article in the Arkansas Demozette about how he befriended crippled children and healed lepers. He was Brett Favre and Chuck Norris rolled into one in the State of Arkansas. I refuse to believe this. It’s simply a case of mistaken identity. It’s some OTHER Matt Jones. Wally Hall and Co. wouldn’t steer us wrong.
Signed,
Razorback Kool-Aid drinker
P.S.: Stop picking on Saint Bobby Petrino. He’ll bring a championship to the Hill and he’s here for eternity! He told us so and no Hog coach can lie (except that BASTARD Houston Nutt … and Lou Holtz … and Danny Ford)
