but there are actual stats to back up his case: 5 of the last 8 players were hispanics. and I believe Howard was mentioned by Reilly, too.
im not particularly certain how this applies.

If there were 8 Hispanics, Reilly would have said nothing about the racial makeup of the lineup.
Ortiz is hurt. Vlad is hurt. Howard didn’t make the All-Star team. Tejada won one of these – it didn’t look like he minded the lineup when they showed him in awe at some of Hamilton’s bombs.

I think the slurping of Hamilton is deserved, even if you take away the awesome side story, you have to admit he is having a hell of a season. If he was playing on the East Coast he would be well on his way to the MVP.

reilly talks = turn it off. i dont like simmons, but i would kill to have him replace reilly on espn nowadays. simmons may be a douchebag, but at least he seems to understand hes an idiot like everyone else, whereas reilly thinks he is god’s gift to sports

actually, i think it’s the opposite – Reilly saw the first 5-6 guys hit, i dont know if any cracked double figures, and meanwhile, you had the best home run hitters sitting out (A-Rod, Howard, past latin winners, etc)

Next change that needs to made for the Derby is putting an ump back then and calling strikes…this is brutal watching these guys take 2-3 strikes because they’re not in the exact right place, just give them a fucking tee already
(For another year this thing is running way over the allotted time…the Derby shouldn’t take as long as regular baseball game)

Actually there was one guy who is a racial minority in the HR Derby.
Grady Sizemore. One of his parents is black. There was a photo of him with them in an SI cover story last year. And the article mentioned something about African-Americans.
