Jason Taylor Traded to Redskins
NFL July 20th. 2008, 9:34pmFor a second round pick – pretty good value for the Dolphins, considering Taylor is a year away from retirement and everyone knew he was on the trading block. Bill Parcells likes draft picks; and doughnuts.Â

It’s astonishing to me that a DE stud could be dealt for a 2nd rounder and a 6th rounder. Haven’t yet looked at the money/cap portion of the deal, but Taylor can be an absolute menace, plus, he’s got star quality.

Star quality makes me so erect.

Bad team with a star that’s only going to play one more year in all likelihood…they should be happy to get what they got
Kinda sucks though since I had dreams of my beloved Packers trading them Favre for Taylor (although I saw that the baby didn’t want to play in Tampa since he wanted “cooler weather” so I’m guessing Miami wouldn’t have flown either)

ok, after doing some reading, i dont see how this is a bad move for the Skins. just one man’s opinion.

TBL, did you see Batman?

When did Taylor saying he was gonna retire? How did I miss that?

he can do the same thing that every other big name old vet that has gone to washington the last few years has done. nothing.

SG – Yup. Post tomorrow. I liked it.

I still say this is a win-win trade for both. Especially Miami. Having Taylor this year wasn’t going to put them over the hump. They still have a lot of humping to do.

erin andrews was stunning in the espy pre-show stuff tonight, i made a point to watch it just for that.

TBL, did you see it in IMAX?

im with you imig.. from the redskins persepctive they get one of the 10 best defensive ends for a 2nd and a 6th which you obviously dont value b/c u suck at drafting.. while the fins flip a useless piece of the puzzle and turn it into 2 picks that parcells is much more likely to use in an intelligent fashion..taylor was just rotting on that team this year.. good trade for both

Mr. Imig,
You couldn’t get a picture of anything for this post? really?
July 20th, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Batman was wildly overhyped.
Good trade for both teams, agree. Taylor is still a beast.

Skins needed a defensive end after Phillip Daniels went down on the first play of training camp and is out until 2009 (F@%#!!!). They had almost all their picks from next year, and the sixth rounder is from 2010. Skins had $9 million in cap space left (just in case), Taylor gets $8.1 this year. And knowing that athletes’ opinions on retirement can fluctuate (*cough* Favre *cough*), I think there’s a good chance he sticks around for longer than just one year.
And since someone is going to make the joke, I’ll beat them to the punch and say: I estimate the odds at 65% he doesn’t retire after this season.

Dan Snyder picked up the shiniest (non-Brett Favre) toy available.
The shock here is that it was the right move at about the right price. The skins need to improve their front four and pass rush. Daniels was cromulent, but when he was injured the front four suffered big time. Addressing that hole was supremely important. Taylor was the best available DE.

The NFC East just gets tougher.

Daniels was known for his cromulence.
