Where will Brett Favre End Up?
NFL July 24th. 2008, 2:40pm
As the Favre turns: Supposedly, he doesn’t own a Packers-issued cell phone! Yawn. We’ve nearly reached our Favre breaking point – so in what may be our last post on the Packers QB until he chooses a team … where do you think he’ll end up?

My other is for retirement.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
In many many more Wrangler commercials…hence the vote for Hell
July 24th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
no need to worry packers fans, they signed brady popinga to an extension. Yay.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:44 PM
Commmmme onnn, Hell!
July 24th, 2008 at 2:44 PM
i voted green bay’s bench, but he will be a starter when aaron rodgers gets hurt
July 24th, 2008 at 2:45 PM
The PM Roundup says otherwise….
July 24th, 2008 at 2:46 PM
I’m saying that only Dan Snyder would be insane enough to take on that salary (the contract still holds if he’s traded, right?), media circus and ego this late into the off season… he’s also crazy enough to bench an up and coming QB for the biggest name in sport right now.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:46 PM
bent over in the madden cruiser.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:46 PM
Tampa Bay
Chris Simms was in the news recently in the ST pete Times. GM Bruce Allen was asking him questions about Favor and his ability to grasp Grudens playbook.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:47 PM
Sick, Sparty, sick..but funny.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:47 PM
If I was a GM I would trade for him and then hold him for ransom for both the Vikings and Bears to bid on. Trade GB a 2nd and 6th for Brett and then flip him back to the North contenders for 1st rounder.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:48 PM
Brett Favre will look fantastic in purple and gold.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:49 PM
TBL…link that pic of Favre that PATPHISH sent ya.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:49 PM
thats so brilliant there has to be a rule against it
July 24th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
fetch, you are a crazy person.. zero percent chance that happens..and irish, shefter reported last night that the actual story is neither what simms said (like you said) or what allen said (which is that he didn’t ask).. so according to shefter he asked about favre but not to that extent..
July 24th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
sorry Fetch but theose uniforms are hideous. nobody looks fantastic in purple and gold.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
awful announcing has shots of the mockups espn did btw
July 24th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
YYSA: that’s so brilliant the Patriots have already probably tried it.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
Head says – Tampa. Gruden LOVES collecting QBs and the Favre Pokemon would make him the coolest kid in the playground.
Heart says – Hell! Sorry I just don’t care where this guy plays (if at all). Thank God training camp is starting so that the MSM can ignore the goings on in Saints, Texans, Chiefs or Jags camps to concentrate all their attention on FAVREWATCH.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:51 PM
I think Philly inquiring about him is interesting….bring in Brett, trade Donovan to Chicago and let Kolb hang on the bench a year or two until Brett is done.
No team has more QB injuries every year than Philly and Brett is the most durable qb ever, right?
July 24th, 2008 at 2:51 PM
thor- that’s true. Except Purple Jesus, he looks good in anything.
Cortes- don’t ruin this for me
July 24th, 2008 at 2:54 PM
Spooning with Peter King.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:54 PM
Mole- It seems like I did read recently that conditions can be placed on a trade i.e. Pack could say Favre cannot be traded to Minnesota, Chicago for 2 full seasons if we trade him to you…these would be conditions of the trade…..I think i recently read this somewhere
July 24th, 2008 at 2:55 PM
I’m sure Donovan would be pumped to play for a team with no offensive line, no wide receivers, two decent tight ends and an offensive coordinator who refuses to let the QB throw to the TE’s more than 3 times a game.
/fuck you, Jerry Angelo
July 24th, 2008 at 2:55 PM
I heard that too Irish, why would Chris Simms have any insight into Brett Favre?
You are all crazy if you think he is going to at any point this year be on Green Bay’s bench.
I think despite Tampa being too warm for him he will go there. John Gruden likes having 900 QB’s on his team.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:56 PM
Wow. That is genius. That alone has to drive the bargaining price up because of what he’s worth to those NFC North teams. You could turn a second and 6th into Chester Taylor and a 2nd.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
Or some other draft pick and player.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
fetch.. im a packers fan.. so i have too..
cubs rings >> vikings rings
// the ONLY team in sports that the cubs are > than
July 24th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
/fixed for Eagle fans
July 24th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
I just want this to go away. It seems like this discussion has dominated the last 3 offseasons.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
Although, yes I voted for Farve to end up in hell, I’m ashamed that the majority of you agree.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
cortes, don’t forget the eagles!
July 24th, 2008 at 2:59 PM
Fetch, as a fellow Viking fan, do you really want to see him in a Vikings uni.? I think the guy is a damn good QB, I just don’t know if I could bring myself to cheer for him. Ever.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:59 PM
fetch…how could you honestly want favre on the Vikings?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
i take it back sportsgal..
cubs>> mets, yanks (fuck NY!),phillies, eagles, and vikings.. cubbies get preferential treatment because wrigley, and downtown chicago rule
July 24th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
I’m saying that only Dan Snyder would be insane enough to take on that salary (the contract still holds if he’s traded, right?), media circus and ego this late into the off season… he’s also crazy enough to bench an up and coming QB for the biggest name in sport right now.
We have two QBs and not enough room in the salary cap. Redskins shouldn’t be in this poll.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
Guys, fetch is young and knows very little about football. He said Emmit Smith is a much better running back than Walter Payton.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
Because he wants to go to the Super Bowl.
That teams needs a QB, Brett gives that to them.
I am sad that the single greatest event in history won’t transpire. Brett opening the season as a Viking at Lambeau, on the night they were supposed to retire his jersey and him torching the Packers for 3 TD’s.
/Packers hater
July 24th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
spence, cause I want the Vikings to win a super bowl. and oddly enough I never really hated Favre.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:02 PM
As a Bucs fans, I only expect two things every year
1) TB to have a top 10 defense
2) Gruden to stock up on QB’s like a pothead at an all you can eat bufet.
So with that being said, bring on Favre, we already got 5 qb’s going into training Camp, what’s one more…
( for those wondering, its Gracia, Griese, McCown, Simms, and Johnson)
July 24th, 2008 at 3:03 PM
did anyone see Lozo’s take on Favre. very funny.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:03 PM
Wow – Hell is kicking ass and taking names in that poll.
“Brett Favre can go to Hell” should steam roll its way through the next culture bracket.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:03 PM
fetch..just a rule of thumb, regarding your ridiculous “emmitt>walter” thing.. don’t ever put a gator in front of a >… gators look best like this…
michael irvin >> jabar gaffney, reche caldwell and chad jackson
July 24th, 2008 at 3:04 PM
is jeff smoker on a team anywhere? i hate that piece of shit
July 24th, 2008 at 3:04 PM
I would’ve bet my balls that “hell” was leading this vote, and I would’ve doubled up. Although what I’d ever do with six balls is beyond me.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:04 PM
partnership for a drug free america ads?
tbl = narc
July 24th, 2008 at 3:05 PM
Fetch, Emmitt wasn’t better than Barry Sanders, let alone Walter Payton.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
@reader M- dont the Bucs still have rights to Plummer?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:07 PM
that is almost as funny as anyone saying payton was greater than barry sanders.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:08 PM
cortes, miami just lost 3 top recruits. what say you to that?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:09 PM
No one is dumb enough to suggest that.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:10 PM
yeah benji just heard it now on 790…disappointing news but it will be fine.. every coach for the canes dating back to the howard S. days, has had a chance to play for a national title…erikson, schellenberger, butch, coker, etc.. and shannon will be no different
July 24th, 2008 at 3:11 PM
Threadjack, there are smart people here.
Why does Nintendo Wii not step up production of their games, and their console?
I think the inability to meet consumer demand is pathetic business.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:12 PM
cbh: you still haven’t got one?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:13 PM
They do not step up production to keep it in demand and make it a “hot” product. So when you can finally get one you feel that much cooler about. I have friends that have been looking for the new Wii fitness with no luck.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:14 PM
Benji, got the Wii, after paying a markup of about 100, now can’t find either the stupid fit or Mario Kart.
I don’t feel cool at all if I get it, I feel annoyed that it takes this much effort.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:14 PM
cortes, this spelling bee is hilarious.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:14 PM
And Sportsgal I hope you find this worth to whine about, although I am sure you don’t.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:15 PM
Off topic
Anybody watching OTL? They’re showing 7 and 8 year olds, training for MMA. What the fuck?? What if these kids get in a fight at school and break someones’ arm or neck?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:15 PM
hold on…my ribs hurt from laughing.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:15 PM
Wii Mario Kart is fun
July 24th, 2008 at 3:15 PM
EASY, poison ivy face…
July 24th, 2008 at 3:16 PM
Agreed Ron, the game kicks ass, the wheel sucks balls though, classic controller is where it’s at.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:16 PM
Haha, I’ll chillax Sportsgal, the poison ivy is gone now though.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:17 PM
@irish
Na.. they settled that earlier this summer, they took him to an arbitration ruling over his bonus, he paid I think was like 3.5 million to Bucs and he got to retire.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:18 PM
@cortes- dont forget Jimmy Johnson
July 24th, 2008 at 3:18 PM
The Wii sucks
Sega Genesis>>> Nintendo Wii
July 24th, 2008 at 3:18 PM
@ cbh, also a valid point. The factories that make the wii have plenty capacity to build these and there is no shortage of components that go into the build. The real answer is that there is no reason for the shortage of systems out there.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:20 PM
Yeah I mean I end up buying the dumb things when I can actually get it anyway so what do they care, they still win.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:23 PM
my wife wants the Wii fitness for her birthday and I’m not looking forward to go looking for it but I should start now
July 24th, 2008 at 3:25 PM
benji you know thats old right, just a replay?…billy beane on with le batard now.. good stuff
July 24th, 2008 at 3:25 PM
@TBL:Before I even saw that you could vote I was thinking Hell.
I really want to see him in the Arena League.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:25 PM
PS3 >>> wii
July 24th, 2008 at 3:27 PM
Thats a whole lot of votes to say we only have about 20 to 30 regular commenters.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:27 PM
@ cbh do you play COD 4 ?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:29 PM
yeah, i know it’s old. but its funny.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:30 PM
Nope, on PS3 I only play sports games and GTA 4
July 24th, 2008 at 3:31 PM
My bet is he doesn’t come out of retirement. I don’t think Green Bay is kidding around about making him ride the bench all year if he un-retires, and I think he knows that. He was hoping public opinion would force them to back down, but it hasn’t played out that way so far – most people just don’t want to hear it.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:31 PM
COD 4 is the shit. CBH you beat GTA 4 yet.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:32 PM
I use to play mostly sports games until I got into the 1st shooter ones.
Have NCAA 08, have not played in while
July 24th, 2008 at 3:33 PM
No JB, barely gotten anywhere on it, hard to find the time to sit down and play it.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:34 PM
@ jb what level are u on ? what is your call id i could add you as a “friend”
July 24th, 2008 at 3:34 PM
Why aren’t you people ridiculing Sparty for his asanine “Sanders is better than Sweetness” statement!?
You people should be playing less video games and having more sex.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:35 PM
When does Wii sex come out?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:36 PM
why do you associate playing video games with no sex ?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:38 PM
I dont have COD 4 anymore. I’m kinda like CBH I only play sports game I rented COD4 from gamefly.
@cbh that game would make me buy a wii.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:39 PM
good enough
July 24th, 2008 at 3:39 PM
because it’s true?
July 24th, 2008 at 3:40 PM
they all no better SG.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:40 PM
know*
July 24th, 2008 at 3:40 PM
@ sportsgal I guess playing “Dance Dance Revolution” with the wife is not a good idea?
/hands in man card
July 24th, 2008 at 3:41 PM
hell is awesome!!
/ray caruth
July 24th, 2008 at 3:42 PM
and what does it matter…Jim Brown would whoop both their asses, chew em out, stand em up and run over them anyways.
Jim Brown is the greatest ever…period. case closed, no debate.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:43 PM
no need to hand in man card….my wife made me by wii
she hate my xbox and ps3, but i’ll be damned if she doesn’t love that fucking wii. it keeps the peace.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:43 PM
my wife likes sings when we play rockband
July 24th, 2008 at 3:43 PM
argee with sandibalz
July 24th, 2008 at 3:45 PM
if by greatest ever you mean greatest asshole you’re dead on. he was playing against a bunch of pussies when he played. guys were scared to hit him. now, not so sure he doesn’t get hurt running the way he did.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:47 PM
don’t get me wrong he was great. I love watching his highlights, but I don’t like all this greatest ever bullshit. Different type of players now than then. Different rules. Steroids are better now.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:47 PM
seriously? the dude walks into the worst ghettos in the country and people are still scared shitless of him. playing against a bunch of pussies my ass…come on, that’s ridiculous.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:48 PM
now that i agree with.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:49 PM
ok….maybe pussies was a bit much, but seriously, the players are all different now, the game is different now. There’s just too much of a gap between when he played to now to call anyone the greatest ever. Can’t we just be happy that we get to watch these guy do some pretty awesome shit, and that we get to pay DirecTV for it if we want to see every game.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:50 PM
kobe > lebron
July 24th, 2008 at 3:51 PM
that’s what barry’s dad thinks too. he always told him, “son, you will never be better than Jim Brown.”
July 24th, 2008 at 3:53 PM
well said.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:53 PM
son of a…
July 24th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Sparty, you’re supposedly a Giants fan, yet you grew up in Michigan and are gushing over a Lions player. Just shut up already.
Walter Payton is and always will be one of the best running backs to ever play the game. He was a great man and an even greater football player.
July 24th, 2008 at 4:17 PM
that was just for you spence
July 24th, 2008 at 4:27 PM
sandibalz…yea, i figured, i got a kick outta it.
id say it was the other way around…great player, better person. and he’s def in the top 3. emmitt smith on the other hand…not so much, maybe top 10, but that’s a stretch.
July 24th, 2008 at 4:31 PM
1. Gale Sayers
2. Walter Payton
3. Jim Brown
July 24th, 2008 at 4:47 PM
1. Jim Brown
2. Walter Payton
3. Barry Sanders
July 24th, 2008 at 4:48 PM
sportsgal, your Chi-town is showing need to cover that up. You sure Neal Anderson or Brad Muster doesn’t make you list?
1. Barry Sanders
2. Walter Payton
3. Dalton Hillard
July 24th, 2008 at 4:49 PM
Jim Brown
Walter Payton
Barry Sanders
Thurman Thomas
Eric Dickerson
July 24th, 2008 at 4:54 PM
SG-am i suppose to say that Rodney Hampton is the greatest ever, i don’t get it? I recognize greatness.
1 Brown
2 Sanders
3 Simpson
July 24th, 2008 at 4:54 PM
oh, and Payton finishes behind Marshall Faulk for me.
July 24th, 2008 at 5:12 PM
Where’s Matt Suhey on that list?
July 24th, 2008 at 5:17 PM
1. R. Williams
2. C. White
3. G. Rodgers
They should be higher on this list.
July 24th, 2008 at 5:19 PM
What about Ricky “Running” Watters?
