We have zero opinion on this, but perhaps you might (The photo is what turned up on a search for edgy):
“I read Deadspin and The Big Lead every day,” said Sandy Padwe, an associate professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. “But both of them are unbelievably misogynistic. It’s OK to scour the Internet and link to other things, some of which are obviously true. But then what is it with all the pictures of the women on there, half of them don’t relate to anything going on in sports?”
We can’t wait for Sandy Padwe to start his own blog and operate it any way he sees fit. Hey Brooks, why did you feel the need to speak for the entire sports blog community? How could you do such a thing? You don’t speak for us!

So Sandy, it seems, has an issue with CRM and his quality Round-Up photos.
Too bad that none of them are from his own (or any other bloggers’ collection). They come from such sources as Sports Illustrated, Maxim and People.
As for SBB…the ONLY reason I even know of that site is because they hire professional models and get them to wear the tiny t-shirts with their logos on them that they can then photograph and peddle.

CB4 – not hating at all. I really want to know what it is. I have an undergrad political science, and aside from learning how to properly use a library and write/cite it was pretty much pointless. Do you learn how to deal with sources, or is it mainly technical writing?

If my wife changes the channel to Sex and the City, I either sit there and watch (teeth gritting), or I leave the room. Either way, it is my conscious choice. I would think the same thing would apply to blogs. And in case these educated people aren’t aware, there are a lot worse things happening on the internets than either Deadspin or TBL and their commenters. A lot worse.

1. Apparently Deadspin and TBL carry identical content, and most of their commenters either copy each other or post comments on both sites.
2. The chick who wrote that column got all pissed at the stereotypical comments the guys made about women, then proceeds to make stereotypical comments about the guys? How exactly is that proving her point?

It’s more than technical writing. There’s also editing, reporting, gathering of sources. We also need to learn about the law and ethics, plus some photography if required.

That’s funny because when my wife turns the channel to something I don’t like, I get up and tell her I’m going to watch TV in the basement. She immediately turns it back to whatever I was watching. For some reason, she’d rather watch something she dislikes with me rather than watch something she likes by herself. This makes on sense to me.

Ahh, poli-sci – what a waste. Not so much for the 4 years of mostly pointless education, but rather for the girl-to-guy ratio even at a school like Auburn that has a healthy number of girls. If I could do it again I’d be one of the 3 guys (and the only straight one) who majored in fashion merchandising. Hot girl to straight guy ratio in that major – 250-1
