Eastern Michigan’s Finest Heads to Italy
NBA August 6th. 2008, 5:45pm
Give us your tired, your poor … THE EUROS GOT EARL BOYKINS? David Stern, you worried yet? Seems as if Josh Childress leaving for Greece last month was a black swan. (All those Toronto Raptors probably bolted because they wanted to get the heck out of Canada.)
But Earl Boykins is going to make $3.5 million for one year in Italy … and he’s going to be the highest paid player in the league. We’re talking about a vagabond who played in the NBA for 10 years and made 33 starts. If you can’t tell from the photo, he’s 5-foot-5, 135, or how big you might have been in 10th grade.
Guess when the Greeks are talking about luring LeBron with $50 million (that’s for ONE YEAR), we should pay attention, huh?
We’re thinking maybe karma is at play here, but we can’t put our finger on the correct NBA-college hoops analogy.

I agree that the NBA is going to have to start noticing.
Was Boykins the point guard at Eastern Michigan when they whipped Duke in the NCAA tournament?

Another anti-Canada joke? I think I’m going to have to pull a jesus and make my exodus from the blog.

Fetch, this should bring a smile to your face.

You are a Kansas fan right?

Dudes should be happy to play for Toronto. They’ve got the whole country watching and play in a dope city.

I wonder if this is some bargaining position to get rid of the max contract on the next negotiations. The NBA players are probably tired of it.
August 6th, 2008 at 6:08 PM
cbh- not that contracts mean anything these days, but that’s awesome.
August 6th, 2008 at 6:15 PM
If I was a midlevel player, read: someone better than Boykins, I would test the European market to see if I could get a fat one-year contract and then after that try and peddle my wares once again in the NBA (or if I like the riches in Europe, stay there)
BTW, Fetch, my condolences on last night. We were on opposite ends of the emotional spectrum all night yesterday

Not sure I understand the black swan reference, but I actually think this would give Stern some comfort. If Earl Boykins at $3.5 million is the highest paid player in the league, they would have to radically adjust their entire scale to accomodate mid-level NBA talent. I think the Euro threat is real, just apparently not from Italy quite yet.

But what about Armani Jeans Milan!?!
August 6th, 2008 at 6:32 PM
was that a shot at cortes? not cool man. not cool.
August 6th, 2008 at 6:39 PM
cbh, yes. It was him and tolbert, who I also think has been floating around Euro leagues…Chris Collins could not guard Boykins.
August 6th, 2008 at 6:44 PM
but overseas they pelt you with quarters if you suck, here we shower you with Knicks money
August 6th, 2008 at 7:20 PM
yup, Boykins was the guy who had that great NCAA tourney way back. If memory serves his wingman was a fella named Derrick Dials?
August 6th, 2008 at 7:58 PM
Conspiracy theory: David Stern is advocating and encouraging players to head to Europe to help spearhead his campaign for an NBA team overseas.

TBL gave us that hours ago. Maybe try Googling “2 AND Girls AND and AND 1 AND Cup” or “Cake AND Farts”.

Cake Farts – Bravo Rex.

This thread would have had more comments if it was Earl Boykins partying, unfortunately.

Cindy Crawford’s breasts are very impressive for a woman in her early 70’s(I think).
When Lebron signs for some Italian team after his Nets contract runs out, remember I called it.
