Everyone who actually follows MLS knows that it was Tim Leiweke, president and chief executive officer of AEG, that brought in Beckham. Lalas brought in this guy. You are giving him too much credit.

Why would anyone in England want to look at Landycakes? Would they sign him to a long-term 10 day contract before he went crying home to California?

That’s a fair point. But, Fulham gets a fair number of players from MLS. American players are not that great, but they are undervalued. Even a really bad striker in England, can cost upwards of $10 million, so, if you can buy an American for half that much it is worth a shot.
