In the books: Power Rankings, the AFC East, North, South and West, and the NFC East, North, South and today, West.

Arizona Cardinals – Matt Leinart – father, quarterback, beer-bong holder – this is finally your year. We thought last year would be the lucky one, but that didn’t take because your shoulder got mangled. The key is winning those first two games against San Fran and Miami. The schedule is unforgiving (Dallas, Giants, Eagles, Patriots), and with injury-prone cats like Edge James, Fitz and Boldin, the offense never seems to be at full-strength, so the early wins clutch. We have faith, though … mostly because the rest of this division isn’t that strong. Let’s call this a soft 10-6.

Seattle Seahawks - Gotta get something off our chest: Never really liked this team. Love the city, used to be a big fan of Curt Warner, but we always thought, for whatever reason, that Steve Largent’s helmet was annoying and Dave Krieg was overrated. They were kind of off our radar for much of the 1990s. Personal history aside … unsure about the ground game and the WR options are laughable. Defense will keep them in most games, probably enough to be in the playoff hunt at 9-7.

San Francisco 49ers – Everyone hopped on the bandwagon last year because they supposedly picked up all this new talent. But everyone forgot Alex Smith was at the helm. Weird: Gore and Foster are a nice RB tandem, and guess who is listed third on the depth chart: former Penn State QB Michael Robinson. Back to Smith: This has to be his last chance. He’s got a stud TE in Vernon Davis, two capable receivers, and the aforementioned RBs. The defense has some players with radical names (Sopoaga, Aubrayo, Ulbrich, Parys), and should be average – except for LB Patrick Willis, he’s a monster. After a 6-10 season, and with no elite QBs in the draft, they’ll grab another d-lineman and hopefully scoop a QB via free agency and be ready to rock and roll in 2009.

St. Louis Rams – We refuse to even talk about this mess until Steven Jackson ends his holdout. FANTASY ALERT: Steven Jackson is holding out. It seems real, and not just a ploy to save his body by not having to run behind a mediocre O-line and suffer wear and tear on his body. The Kurt Warner years seem like forever ago, right? We’d actually consider Troy Smith (!) over Marc Bulger for our fantasy team. Ok, that’s a joke. Probably 5-11.
