@slc… You are right the prize was supposed to be Phillips in the Colon deal. When you get 1 prize, you don’t expect to get 2 more prizes! They managed to get Lee when he was in AA and Sizemore when he was in A ball (and 19 years old). I would call that theft in the highest proportions, although point taken that Minaya was in “screw it” mode and didn’t care what happened to the franchise.

Where were Sizemore and Lee playing at the time of the trade for Colon? I thought Sizemore was in A ball. The supposed prize of that trade was Phillips.

Virtually every team does that with someone at some time (The Tribe STOLE Lofton the same way from Houston and with Lee and Sizemore from Montreal).

Not quite re: Montreal.

Minaya was in win or go home mode. It was the last year in Montreal, and he said F it. He knew he’d be fired anyway.

@slc… Phillips was a mess-up pure and simple. However, he didn’t want to be in Cleveland because he thought he should have been starting at 20. The screw-up was that the Indians gave themselves no options but to basically give him away. Virtually every team does that with someone at some time (The Tribe STOLE Lofton the same way from Houston and with Lee and Sizemore from Montreal). The Indians did it with Phillips.

Marte swings a slow bat. He will never be a good 3B. He does possess a GREAT glove, but absolutely cannot catch up to major league fastballs. If he becomes good somewhere else, I would be SHOCKED.
