USA Basketball = The KoBron Debate
NBA August 19th. 2008, 5:45pm
Every damn day, it’s the same thing around here. “Kobe > LeBron > Kobe” Shut. Up. Just shut the **** up!*
That being said, I come here to praise LeBron James, not to bury Kobe Bryant. I want that to be clear from the get-go. Especially considering all the anti-Kobe propaganda that certain founding members of this blog have been known to push upon the populace of TBL-dome. [Ed. Palm to forehead. Never been anti-Kobe. Just think LeBron's a better player.]
LeBron > Kobe
Watching the two of them on the same court, on the same team, there’s no question in my mind.
Keep in mind, I don’t want this to sound like Kobe-hate. I like Kobe. I have a #8 Kobe jersey. When he went on that scoring streak 2 seasons ago, I was as excited as Kobe around a female bellhop. I love watching the man play basketball.
But LeBron…
LeBron James is a whole other beast. He’s William Floyd with a basketball. He’s so big and strong and athletic and he makes it look so damn easy. No one his size should be able to move like that. No one that size should be able to do what he does.
*NSFW – Better late than never, eh?

Mr. Global Icon needs to win a ring before he is on the left side of this equation.

I think right now, today, Kobe is probably better than Lebron, but it is real close. When both of their careers are over, barring injury Lebron > Kobe.

@grunge: kobe <<< lebron

LeBron is like the Wilt Chamberlain of this era in that he does things that no one his size is supposed to do or has done in the league before. He could very well wind up being the greatest player of all time when it is said and done. Right now, Kobe is the best player in world.

LeBron (and team) won 3 state titles…

I’d take a healthy D-Wade over either of ‘em.

Wade has shit all over both of them in these Olympics. Although none of those international pussies can check LeBron.

I dont think you idiots have watched 8/8/8. Dude is a manchild out there, pinning guys jumpers off the glass, knocking down threes, overall embarrasssing countries.
Is Kobe a better athlete? maybe. Olympian? no way.

There is an argument to be made that Lebron is the better player, but basing that decision on how they do in international competition shouldn’t be one. Lebron style and sheer size, strength, and athleticism allows him to dominate against much smaller and less athletic foreign players. Kobe isn’t that much bigger than his international counterparts and his athleticism has declined with age, so he can’t physical dominate like Lebron. Against the zones that most international teams play, Lebron’s size allows him to get to the rim at ease while Kobe must shot over it for the most part. As the international rules are now, Lebron is better suited for international competition.
But let’s not dismissed the MVP SEASON Kobe just had leading his team to the NBA Finals in the toughest conference of all-time. He sucked in the finals, yes, but Lebron didn’t exactly dominate the C’s either. He’s also still playing with a pinkie finger on his shooting hand that requires surgery; a surgery he put off during the season although many pundits killed him for it and said the Lakers would be in better shape if he had the surgery (I think TBL said he should’ve).
And Lebron’s defense is far overrated in the international game because it allows reaching and hand checking and physical play and contact on the perimeter, something he can’t get away with in the NBA.

What the fuck is this post? Are we still trying to debate this?
Kobe will never win on this site. This site is made up of a large portion of Ohio residents.
So it will always be Lebron this, Lebron that and Kobe sucks and Kobe sucks. I like Kobe a lot and i think he is the best player in the world. I do like Lebron a lot as well. Lebron will take the crown soon enough from Kobe. Unless someone like Chris Paul or Dwight Howard take it away HA
