White Sox 15, Mariners 3: The Sox hit four homers in a game (again) with Ken Griffey Jr. getting in on the action for the first time with the Whities. Pierzynski, Ramirez and Swisher also homered, with Swisher’s being the third in as many games. The Sox have hit four or more homers in a game six times this month and 10 times this season. Christ.

Angels 5, Rays 4: Garret Anderson knocked in the game-winning run in the 9th to extend his hit-streak to 23 games and F. Rodriguez notched his 48th save to move the Angels 30 games over .500. Jose Arredondo earned a blown save and the win after giving up a game-tying RBI double to Carlos Pena in the 8th. Jon Miller has wet dreams just thinking about the chance to pronounce the name “Jose Arredondo”.

Twins 3, A’s 1: The A’s made history with their 11th straight series loss, an Oakland record (YAY for Oakland!). On the flipside, the Twins won their 11th consecutive home series, improving to 30-9 since June 1st. Francisco Liriano gave up five hits and three walks in five innings to improve to 4-3. Interestingly, a “scout” in Jayson Stark’s Rumblings column claims Liriano is a No. 3 or No. 4 starter and not as “wow-good” as he was prior to the surgery. I can’t speak to Liriano’s performances other than box-scores, but since being recalled, he’s yielded four runs in 23 2/3 innings. Stark’s column also included 10 snappy puns, including but not limited to: “Rays-ing the stakes” (Rays), “Fresh Eyre” (Scott Eyre), “Dunn Deal” (Adam Dunn) and “Danks a Million” (John Danks). Awesome.

Brewers 5, Astros 2: Manny Parra won his first game in a month after losing four of five starts with a 5.70 ERA in that span. Houston loaded the bases with no outs in the 8th but E. Gagne got Hunter Pence to ground into a double play and David Newhan followed suit with a groundout. Salomon Torres earned save 24 in his 29th opportunity. Dude has been in the league since ‘93 and didn’t even pitch this well in Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball.

Mets 6, Braves 3: Mike Pelfrey pitched the first complete game of his career, giving up three hits, three runs and three walks while striking out three. His jersey number? You guessed it: 34.
