Feel Good Sappy Time: OK State’s Artrell Woods
College Football August 22nd. 2008, 4:00pm
If you want to make this a challenge, by all means, let’s do it. But we find it hard to believe that there’s a more uplifting college football story this year than Oklahoma State receiver Artrell Woods.
Spring 2007: Dominates the Spring Football game, catching 111 yards and scoring twice.
July 13 2007: While lifting weights, Woods rolls an ankle, and falls down, the weights falling on his neck. He’s helped to his feet, says, “I can’t feel my legs” and passes out. He’s temporary paralyzed and airlifted to a hospital for emergency surgery to fix two displaced vertebrae.
Summer 2008: He’s risen as high as 3rd on the OK State depth chart at receiver, and expects to catch plenty of passes in the Cowboys pass-happy offense.
Pretty cool.

The Elliot Mealer story isn’t bad either, not to steal this kids thunder or anything.

Ray Ray McElrathbey’s story is pretty good. Oh, wait – Clemson dicked him over?
Doesn’t feel so good anymore.

Big deal, I once played in a high school football game with a painful hangnail on my left big toe. Only reason I quit is because of a slightly dislocated collarbone that nearly made me cry.

The J Leman story is pretty good as well, from special olympics to Fightin Illini, not bad.

That Buckeye story reminds me of Rodrick Stewart this year dislocating his kneecap during a shootaround prior to the Final 4.

That video makes me queasy everytime. Folks just aren’t supposed to have giant gaping holes in their knees.

J Leman is a real american hero, corn-darnit.

any guesses on the new member of TBL?
His partner, The Big Deal or whatever his name is. I wonder what that guy does
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:38 PM
Celtics big replacement for James Posey?
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:43 PM
“any guesses on the new member of TBL?”
I’m going to rule out all the 42 TBL commenters that write for MLJ. Intern Bill won’t be a part of those type of working conditions.
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:44 PM
My guess is Hef. He’s written some solid posts that have earned mostly positive commenter feedback, and has plenty of sports knowledge.

“He’s written some solid posts that have earned mostly positive commenter feedback, and has plenty of sports knowledge.”
And he reads short stories.

I wouldn’t call Boone Pickens U a pass-happy offense. Not with Zac Robinson running around back there. In 2007, they had 592 rushing attempts compared to 386 passing attempts.
