Jaguars WR Dennis Northcutt is Accused of Possibly Being the Next Rae Carruth
Courts, Legal, NFL August 27th. 2008, 12:15pm
First it was WR Matt Jones memorably cutting up cocaine – according to police – with a Foot Locker card in a dingy Arkansas parking lot last month, and now the Jaguars have another problem: WR Dennis Northcutt has been accused by a former girlfriend of:
“[getting] his cousin to “maliciously assault, beat, strike and batter Plaintiff, her face and head with great force and violence … causing severe and permanent disfigurement to her face.”
TMZ has already spoken to Northcutt’s agent, who claims this is just a shakedown. Scary stuff, nonetheless. As for the Jags, their WR depth chart – excluding Northcutt – is a hot steaming pile of garbage:
* Jerry Porter is injured
* Reggie Williams had surgery recently
* Troy Williamson is … Troy Williamson
* Matt Jones awaits those felony drug charges
David Garrard should put in a call to Mike Vick or Donovan McNabb and ask how to survive without any WRs. Not that he’ll have any answers …

It’s a good thing Garrard doesn’t throw more than 15 times a game, or else they’d be in trouble.

* Jerry Porter is garbage
* Reggie Williams is garbage
* Troy Williamson is … Troy Williamson who is garbage
* Matt Jones awaits those felony drug charges which will be dropped just like it was him attempting to catch a football.
Yikes. Their receiving core looks as bad as the Chief’s QBs.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:19 PM
They still have Marcedes Lewis. His hype from the last 2 years alone should carry that receiving core.

Fred-Ex put down the bong as soon as he read this …
August 27th, 2008 at 12:23 PM
I am still angry at Northcutt for dropping a first down catch against Pittsburgh that would have won the Browns lone play-off game since they returned. If he did do what he is accused of, I think the drop should be an aggravating factor considered in his sentencing.

Carruth came to my H.S. practice once, (our coaches were all ex-CU players). I tried covering him, it didn’t work out so well. But I walked away with no bullet wounds or any other injuries.

Dennis Northcutt is still in the NFL?
August 27th, 2008 at 12:26 PM
+1 to fluffy bunny.
As an eagles fan, I would love for the fans of another team to feel the hype and mediocrity that comes with having Fred Ex on your team.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:27 PM
Does it really matter who the Jags have at receiver when their QB is a slightly better version of Tavaris Jackson? They’ll run the ball and their defense will keep them in the playoff hunt.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:27 PM
I’m still mad that be makes for the sideline like a scalded wombat after every catch,
Gator-armed panzee he is.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:31 PM
Finally some excitement for the NFL’s most boring good team
August 27th, 2008 at 12:32 PM
Reggie Williams isn’t garbage, he scores a lot of TD’s.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:34 PM
So are you saying I shouldn’t start Reggie Williams this week over D. Bowe, Calvin Johnson or Plaxico?
August 27th, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Sandi, you’re in a preseason league?
August 27th, 2008 at 12:38 PM
Sandi, you’re in a preseason league?
Hell yeah. I’m resting my starters this week.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:39 PM
I wish, I’m just preppin my lineup for week one. I already made the worst trade ever: Min Def & Ricky Williams for Justin Fargas & Bryant Johnson.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:41 PM
Gerrard played well last year with these clowns. For my team’s sake lets hope they get their shit sorted out down there
August 27th, 2008 at 12:41 PM
Reggie Williams isn’t garbage, he scores a lot of TD’s.
He scored a bunch last year, but has been garbage otherwise… he only had 38 catches last year and only had 5 career TD’s going into last year.
You care correct about the Td’s though: 1 of every 4 catches is impressive.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:42 PM
A preseason fantasy league would be the most frustrating thing ever.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:59 PM
Easy on the “FredEx is making a come back” talk. How’s he going to make love to all these sweet, sweet ladies if he’s playing ball?
August 27th, 2008 at 1:02 PM
That may be the only reason Fred-Ex can thank his hands anymore john.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:05 PM
I dont agree but I understand.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:22 PM
Dennis Northcutt killed someone?
August 27th, 2008 at 1:25 PM
I am drafting D-Cut #1 as part of my “NFL Fantasy Bad Boys League.”
August 27th, 2008 at 1:26 PM
I think the fact that he didn’t kill someone kind of takes him out of the Ray Carruth category.

@ thedave – don’t forget pacman, chris henry, b. marshall & jeramy stevens
August 27th, 2008 at 1:29 PM
chris henry is my sleeper pick of the season. he’s sitting on my bench til week five. I’m playing him no matter what in week five banking on it being a blow out week for him.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:36 PM
at least the Jags got D Harvey signed
August 27th, 2008 at 1:37 PM
i’m hoping harbey puts jax d over the top and pushes them to the number two defense since I traded minnesota.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:46 PM
the jags did it with garbage wr last yr and still went to the 2nd rd of the playoffs. we have the 2nd best rushing game in the nfl thats very hard to stop and a solid def..just buying time till porter comes back. the game that worries me is the opener vs the titans only because of haynesworth. the titans offense is a joke so the jags should be able to escape nashville with a W.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:55 PM
Just keeps getting better and better…at least we got harvey signed
August 27th, 2008 at 2:11 PM
That is a pretty piss poor comparison. Garrard is much better than T-Jack, it’s not even close.
August 27th, 2008 at 2:15 PM
i dont know man, garrard had a good season last year
August 27th, 2008 at 2:15 PM
You’re assuming I think Tavaris is a really shitty QB, so why don’t you keep your piss poor opinions to yourself.
August 27th, 2008 at 2:24 PM
The breakup ended badly?
August 27th, 2008 at 2:29 PM
/Woof!
//You mean “Rowr”?
///Yes, that’s the one!
August 27th, 2008 at 2:30 PM
Even if you think Jackson is average, Garrard is still way above him.
Garrard – Top 12 QB
Jackson – Bottom 10 QB
August 27th, 2008 at 2:36 PM
don’t forget driving to a rest stop and locking himself in his own trunk, pretending to be kidnapped, waiting for police to find him.
August 27th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
So if Garrard is 12th out of the top 12 and Jackson is 21 out of 32, then Garrard is slightly better than Jackson. And you can go suck it.
August 27th, 2008 at 2:51 PM
I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. I put Garrard 9th and Jackson around 24th or 25th
August 27th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
Giving me the benefit of the doubt by saying I made a piss poor comparison? Ok…
August 27th, 2008 at 2:59 PM
Top 12 and Bottom 10 = benefit of the doubt
August 27th, 2008 at 4:48 PM
Reggie Williams isn’t totally garbage, a bit of a bust yes, but not total garbage. I would take him on the Seahawks right now. Plus he is from my home town; Lakewood in the building!!!
