It’s Here.
NFL September 4th. 2008, 6:31pm
Just hit up Price Club (Costco to you young folks) and loaded up on beers for the NFL’s opening weekend. Burgers are on the grill. And foolishly, we’ve placed some cigarette money on the underdog Skins on the road against the defending champs. We’re actually taking the Skins in this one in a mild upset, even though DB Shawn Springs won’t play, and Jason Taylor might. The call here is 23-13, Skins.
We’ll be loitering in the comments section, and probably unconscious by the time Brandon Jacobs trucks Fred Smoot en route to his third TD run.

You going to tell us to turn our music down TBL? And if you’d let me get my frisbee that flew over your fence, that’d be cool too.
But seriously TBL, you are living the dream. If I’m lucky I’ll catch the last few minutes of this game, and it’ll still be close at that time. I have a lab from 6:30-9.
September 4th, 2008 at 6:39 PM
Redskins should always wear those jerseys in that pic
September 4th, 2008 at 6:47 PM
You smoke? I’ve heard that’s bad for you.
September 4th, 2008 at 6:52 PM
Smoker? Booo.
September 4th, 2008 at 6:53 PM
TBL – SKINS? I like it.
September 4th, 2008 at 6:55 PM
I have a lab from 6:30-9.
Definitely would have skipped that mofo back in the day.
/got decent grades despite not going to class
September 4th, 2008 at 6:55 PM
Skins and smoking?
FAIL and EPIC FAIL
September 4th, 2008 at 7:01 PM
Ok, let’s get the trophy off the field and start playing already.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:02 PM
God it sucks to watch that play again. Not to mention that gap-toothed fuck pumping the trophy.
/still jilted
September 4th, 2008 at 7:04 PM
The Strahan introduction was pretty cool.
/I HATE almost all things New York
//I DON’T hate boot season in New York though.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:05 PM
Jacobs will have 3 touchdowns by your 4th beer? He’ll be on pace to break a record!
September 4th, 2008 at 7:07 PM
It doesn’t beat Ozzy’s intro with the Patriots from several years ago.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:09 PM
The price of membership is paid for if you buy your booze at Costco or Sam’s.
When does the game start? I’m not turning on that channel until all the ridiculousness is done.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:09 PM
It started
September 4th, 2008 at 7:10 PM
cigarette money is just a phrase … i haven’t had a cig in years … bought one pack in my life (i was 18, nobody else in the crew was)

September 4th, 2008 at 7:11 PM

September 4th, 2008 at 7:12 PM
somebody’s getting picked on early …
September 4th, 2008 at 7:12 PM
I’m addicted to yahoo stat tracker already
September 4th, 2008 at 7:13 PM
how’s that not a flag on jacobs? he hit him in the face?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:14 PM
please, more injuries…
September 4th, 2008 at 7:14 PM
anyone hear the rule change that all facemask penalties are 15yds? Does that mean they wont call the cheap slap on the mask or will inadvertant stuff be personal fouls as well?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:15 PM
how the hell did landry NOT pick that?
mfer
September 4th, 2008 at 7:15 PM
Burris is on fire man. Counting his new large pile of cash.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:17 PM
Landry is a smaller version of Taylor, kill first, catch second
September 4th, 2008 at 7:17 PM
I wish I had a fantasy guy in this game so I’d have a reason to watch.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:18 PM
Who’s gonna make the Sean Taylor and kill joke first?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:18 PM
#*@#ing Burress.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:18 PM
brandon jacobs owners: not happy
September 4th, 2008 at 7:19 PM
Cig money is an old saying. Just means chump change.
Thanks Oh no Romo.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:19 PM
If Barry Sanders had been a white quarterback, he would have been Eli Manning.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:21 PM
that drive could not have gone much worse: 3rd down conversion, corner burnt, lucky catch, injury, bad call, allow slow white guy to run it in.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:21 PM
CC was on PTI and said he would like to stay in Milwaukee. Suck it rest of the league.
/dilusional
September 4th, 2008 at 7:22 PM
Brandon Jacobs owner here. Not happy.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:23 PM
TBL – you get 4 or 4.5
September 4th, 2008 at 7:24 PM
For someone who’s watching baseball over football: what happened to Jacobs?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:24 PM
4.5
campbell looked so confused on the first play. tuck beat a double team? geez
September 4th, 2008 at 7:25 PM
2 plays for jacobs at the goalline … fake and pass on the first play … fake and Manning sneak on the 2nd play.
both calls were from the 1-yard-line
September 4th, 2008 at 7:26 PM
I’m a Jacob’s owner in a free league. What happened? I missed the first 15 minutes.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:26 PM
To quote thy Billy Packer…”This one is…ovah.”
September 4th, 2008 at 7:28 PM
Anyone else use Fanball for Fantasy and is having problems?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:28 PM
@bsanders- man I can’t wait until college basketball. My UNC boys got a lot of revenge to seek.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:29 PM
TBL – Campbell ran into that first sack. Needs to stay in the pocket.
I wasn’t going to drink tonight. That doesnt seem to be working.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:30 PM
God Jacobs can’t catch. He’s like a bigger version of Kenton Keith.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:30 PM
Hawkeye – i did last year but switched because of that same shit happening to me
September 4th, 2008 at 7:32 PM
Never had a problem last two years. That fucking site better be working this weekend.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:33 PM
Man, Plaxico is just working the Wash secondary.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:33 PM
London Fletcher owners like myself are happy.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:34 PM
my gosh jacobs is a beast
this skins d is getting destroyed
September 4th, 2008 at 7:34 PM
Ok, so he’s a gigantic version of Kenton Keith.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:34 PM
damn, i felt that wearing my Landry jersey
September 4th, 2008 at 7:35 PM
landry just got trucked. footprint on his chest.
he’s on the bench now, hurt (or embarrassed)
September 4th, 2008 at 7:36 PM
Embarassed.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:36 PM
My buddy lives in Detroit and their covering that mayor fiasco.. I’m sure people are thrilled that their missing the first NFL game of the season.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:36 PM
nwilson, you’re a Carolina fan?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:36 PM
i cannot fathom getting in front of jacobs and attempting to tackle him. landry might have a separated shoulder. seriously. that looked ROUGH
September 4th, 2008 at 7:38 PM
anyone thing sc can cover tonight?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:38 PM
They’re..
September 4th, 2008 at 7:38 PM
I actually covered Jacobs in college and interviewed him on several occasions. You simply can’t overstate just how massive he is when standing right in front of you. And there’s no fat on him at all. Just 265 solid, and he used to tell us he really weighed 275 but the coaches didn’t want to put that out there. How he fell off the map at Auburn is still beyond me.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:38 PM
ill: I hadn’t even thought about it, but when the “The following is an exclusive presentation of the National Football League” message came on, a beer was magically in my hand.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:39 PM
I dont think u can be embarrassed about getting run over if you’re a DB by that big ass mofo
September 4th, 2008 at 7:39 PM
Boy the Giants are treating this game like it’s a preseason game against the Browns! Someone should tell them it’s just a regular season game!!
September 4th, 2008 at 7:39 PM
“the irish look to return to the nations elite”
is it 1996 again?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:40 PM
Skins look like donkey. Here is a clue to the new coaches; GIVE IT TO PORTIS!!!!! Stupid fucks.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:41 PM
cracker – after the first drive and the ensuing skins possession, I made a stiff vodka and OJ. At this rate I’ll be drinking grain from the bottle soon.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:41 PM
I need portis to get up in it.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:42 PM
I’d probably shit my pants having to even approach Brandon Jacobs.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:42 PM
@fetch, yeah I am. KU game was brutal. Ready to start fresh
September 4th, 2008 at 7:43 PM
fetch – I’m 6-2, 200 and he made me feel like Danny DeVito.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:43 PM
cant hit the kicker…
September 4th, 2008 at 7:43 PM
WOW! Nice roughing the kicker!
September 4th, 2008 at 7:45 PM
What happened to Portis?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:45 PM
That Gene Upshaw patch is larger than Dave Meggett, but not as black. Can someone more important die so we can get rid of that patch ASAP!
September 4th, 2008 at 7:46 PM
Spagnulo doesn’t fuck around. Brings the house every time.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:46 PM
nwilson- That KU-UNC game was almost better than winning the national championship. I never thought I’d forgive Roy for leaving KU, which I know sounds dumb, but I pretty much did all over the span of those 40 minutes. Now I can quit cheering for Duke in the Duke-UNC games.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:46 PM
@cursed – no shit, it looks like a giant G-Unit insignia
September 4th, 2008 at 7:47 PM
would you play McAllister(Tampa) over Jamal lewis(Dallas)?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:48 PM
Something Happend to Portis?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:48 PM
Tampa – no
September 4th, 2008 at 7:49 PM
fetch it’s just one of those games that when people say, “dude what happened to UNC” you just say, we got our ass beat. Plain and simple.
This year should be fun with only one real guy missing from all of there players. Well two. a California boy, and Q. No reason we shouldn’t run the table. Of course we won’t.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:49 PM
on both questions
September 4th, 2008 at 7:50 PM
I don’t recognize Andrea Kramer without her lips all over Michael Phelps’.. ahhhhhh forget it.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:50 PM
nwilson- UNC is gonna be fucking unbelievable this year, I’m hoping in 09-10 Kansas will be challenging for the Final Four again if everyone stays on campus
+JS to bsanders for the G-unit comment.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:51 PM
I say yes with Lewis.. the Browns haven’t had their qb/wr’ in camp together much at all, they’ll stay with the run unless it gets ugly – they’ll be trying to catch Cowboys off guard I believe.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:52 PM
It appears I gave out my JS too soon, +1 to cursed too.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:52 PM
fucking hold.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:54 PM
This one’s getting ugly.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:55 PM
I’ll never understand the Coors commercials with the ex-coaches. Why have those coaches come in and read a script to make it seem like those were real press conferences? Wouldn’t it have been funnier to choose from real pressers?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:55 PM
Wow that catch by Tyree was sick?? Which preseason game was that??
September 4th, 2008 at 7:55 PM
Upshaws wife can get it, he picked wisely.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:55 PM
“Now I can quit cheering for Duke in the Duke-UNC games.”
I always root for a bomb during those games.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:55 PM
I always thought they did take those clips from real pressers.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:57 PM
KC, I usually say that I hope KU’s bus crashes on the way to the game…
September 4th, 2008 at 7:57 PM
Eli, you could hand the ball off to Jacobs any time now.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:59 PM
skins dodge a mAJOR bullet on that implosion by the giants. 17-0 would have been ballgame, probably.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:59 PM
I don’t hate Missouri for bball that much to be honest. I suppose cause they aren’t very good it doesn’t matter.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:00 PM
Nice rip on Hochuli bu Michaels
September 4th, 2008 at 8:01 PM
Yeah Denny Green yelling “They are who we thought they were!” was totally scripted just for Coors Light, ya know.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:03 PM
That Christian Slater show won’t last long.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:03 PM
Wow, who knew the Skins were going to be THIS bad? They are AWFUL.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:04 PM
good quote? bad quote?
September 4th, 2008 at 8:04 PM
CJ..it was a joke..
September 4th, 2008 at 8:06 PM
More Portis running please….
September 4th, 2008 at 8:06 PM
@big lead – The guy’s not a rocket scientist, I’ll say that much. Plus we’re I-AA football and he was coming from Auburn so he basically thought he was slumming it for a year to boost his draft stock, which he was (and did). Has to be a shock going from a football madhouse to a school who lives for mid-major basketball, though.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:07 PM
Giants need to convert for TD’s. They’ve left the door slightly ajar for the Redskins… if they could get a 1st down…
/Burress and Giant D owner here!
//pleased so far
September 4th, 2008 at 8:08 PM
I have Portis and the Giants D, because I am an idiot.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:09 PM
“KC, I usually say that I hope KU’s bus crashes on the way to the game…” nwilson
I usually emjoy when Mizzou’s hoops team plays basketball. Comedy gold since Stewart left. You a UNC fan or something?
September 4th, 2008 at 8:10 PM
I have Eli and Jacobs in my money league and Portis in my TBL league. So far only Eli is generating a decent amount of points.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:10 PM
That Christian Slater show won’t last long.
Hes so fucking lame.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:10 PM
Well, the Giants have their 13, TBL.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:12 PM
The big man can run!
September 4th, 2008 at 8:13 PM
SG – I think that TBL league is a money league as well.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:15 PM
hm….should have been 6 the other way.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:15 PM
I’m glad Smoot and Carlos decided to wear that bright tape on their cleats so I can pick out when they are getting burned.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:16 PM
This is some bending but no breaking..
September 4th, 2008 at 8:16 PM
By the way, Marv is calling this game on Westwood one.. still the best in the business.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:18 PM
That was the weirdest fucking commercial I’ve ever seen.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:18 PM
WTF was that?
September 4th, 2008 at 8:19 PM
Newt Gingrich had a run-in with an NBC correspondent? It’s next after the break on O’Reilly
By the way, Jerry Seinfeld hasn’t been funny in 10 years.. what an awful commericial, I hope he didn’t write it.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:19 PM
I dunno but I thought it was pretty funny.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:19 PM
mmmmm……chewy cake computer…..droool….
September 4th, 2008 at 8:20 PM
Better than an episode of Two and a Half Men.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:21 PM
ill – are you talking about the one you’re in?
September 4th, 2008 at 8:21 PM
Larry David made Seinfeld. Seinfeld is shit without Larry.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:22 PM
spit it out Ed
September 4th, 2008 at 8:24 PM
Wow. Brutally bad facemask call. That automatic 15 yard facemask will be an issue for the league this year. Are referees supposed to eat the flag on accidental calls? Its either that or an obscene amount of 15 yard penalties…
September 4th, 2008 at 8:24 PM
It’s a celebration bitches, TOUCHDOWN!
/thank god
September 4th, 2008 at 8:25 PM
SG – yes
September 4th, 2008 at 8:25 PM
wtf were they talking about with the whole timeout thing. there was plenty of time and they could only get a first down at the inch line. its not like he was joe gibbs with his timeouts or anything.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:25 PM
The G-men’s inability to score TD’s has kept the Skins in it… It might be a close one now. I don’t care as long as Plexiglass catches 10 more balls in the 2nd half, preferably a couple in the end zone…
September 4th, 2008 at 8:28 PM
can’t be crushed if you’re the skins. awful first half … QB doesn’t complete a pass until the FINAL drive, and you’re only down 16-7.
still have a chance at +4.5 … although it’d suck to lose 19-14
September 4th, 2008 at 8:31 PM
saints at home? i’d probably take a chance on jamal
September 4th, 2008 at 8:42 PM
love those personal fouls
September 4th, 2008 at 8:43 PM
GGGGGGGGG-UNIT!
September 4th, 2008 at 8:46 PM
Little old lady got mutilated late last night…
September 4th, 2008 at 8:49 PM
I have no rooting interesting in this game either way.. but it seems to me that the Giants’ Oline has gotten away with at a ton of holds. What say you?
September 4th, 2008 at 8:51 PM
I say Eli is still woefully inaccurate and makes questionable decisions.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:53 PM
Where’d the Werewolves of London comment come from? Did I miss a commercial?
September 4th, 2008 at 8:53 PM
Inside info: I had my recent knee surgery from the one of the orthopedic doctors who works for the Skins. He was at the pre-season game where Taylor f’d his knee up. He told me Taylor was freaking out when they first ran out on the field but after they finished examining it and the MRI came thru, the injuries really weren’t that serious at all. Very fortunate.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:55 PM
Uh oh….lady momentum is starting to bob…
September 4th, 2008 at 8:55 PM
Cursed – home team in the NFC East always seems to get, or not get, the holding calls.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:56 PM
why the F would you throw a 4-yard out on 3rd and six?
come onnnnnn
September 4th, 2008 at 8:57 PM
great tackle by the rookie Phillips
September 4th, 2008 at 8:57 PM
Giants OLine getting away with holds? Where have I seen that before…
/bangs head against wall…
September 4th, 2008 at 8:58 PM
I haven’t heard this. You got a link?
/TBL
September 4th, 2008 at 8:59 PM
Who’d have ever thought they’d turn a Lit song into a TV show?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:00 PM
@kc Yep, love me some MU football even during the bad days, but have always been a hurricanes fan as well. UNC have always been my hoops squad though. You know, when Vince Carter was the man (but has since turned into a big ole puss)

September 4th, 2008 at 9:01 PM
Smooooooot
September 4th, 2008 at 9:02 PM
brandon jacobs is averaging like 6 ypc and they have manning throwing? they deserve that pick. smoot!!!!!!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:02 PM
The only Tar Heel I’ve ever liked is Ed Cota
September 4th, 2008 at 9:03 PM
Smoot just booked a yacht for Saturday
September 4th, 2008 at 9:03 PM
Huh, almost didn’t recognize Smoot without his double-headed dildo…
September 4th, 2008 at 9:04 PM
At least if Eli throws, he needs to throw to Plexiglass!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:04 PM
Ole Ed Cota. No Jackie Manuel? He was always one of my favorites. Just because he could get on the floor w/o ANY offensive skills. That’s impressive at Carolina.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:05 PM
Didn’t Jackie Manuel look like Sam Cassell’s brother?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:08 PM
Nwilson -
I’ve hated UNC since they beat us in the 93 Final 4. I suppose it was because it was during my formative years. Up until Roy left KU, most KU fans treated UNC as their second school. Not so much anymore.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:08 PM
A little bit yeah, just had the slender head instead of that oval alien shaped head.
That’s weird that it’s 90 there and right now its 57 here in MO.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:08 PM
brandon jacobs is averaging like 6 ypc and they have manning throwing?
Dude is a little big to have 30 carries a game.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:11 PM
movie post coming tomorrow!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:12 PM
one more TD drive knocks the redskins out. bad play-call IMO
September 4th, 2008 at 9:13 PM
Any of you Techies know how to get my yahoo fantasy stattracker to update? I’m using firefox 3.0 and it’ll load and just stay the same, and never update. Pissing me off.

September 4th, 2008 at 9:23 PM
praying for a skins TD drive here.
Didn’t see the first; the second one was bad.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:24 PM
This…game…blows.

BANGKOK DANGEROUS RULES!!1!!!1
Nick Cage is a POS.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:26 PM
The NFL field is not big enough for these guys. It’s counter, draw, screen…yawwwwn.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:28 PM
These guys don’t dig each other.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:28 PM
this JIm zorn offense looks terrible. only been 3 quarters, but wtf were these guys doing all preseason?
this is not nearly the same super bowl defense.
and for the most part, the redskins have gotten lucky the giants have shat the bed in the red zone.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:30 PM
Some teams run the screen very well, like the Eagles
September 4th, 2008 at 9:33 PM
Damnit Landry
September 4th, 2008 at 9:33 PM
Ill..doens’t make the screen entertaining!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:34 PM
Im impressed with the Giants. They are ballin. Plaxico and Jacobs are beasting. Redskins look like shit but they always do and end up making the playoffs.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:35 PM
620 to go. all i need is a touchdown and im all set. the giants really had a puzzling performance after the early dominance. this game has been completely 1-sided, yet it is only 16-7.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:37 PM
I want no part of New York City. You all can have it. Looks freaking nuts.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:37 PM
@Tampa Bo
That movie looks so awful it makes Christian Slaters new show look awesome.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:39 PM
Jim Zorn knows there’s not a fifth quarter right?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:39 PM
nice! finally a pass play that worked!!!!!!!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:39 PM
NYC is a really fun and incredible city. If you haven’t gone, you have to at least once. The NYC bias is well deserved. It is the greatest city I have ever been to.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:40 PM
I don’t like buildings not shaped like barns. Just doesn’t seem natural.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:41 PM
Even the title, Bangkok Dangerous, is laughably bad. But I’m sure it’s not as bad as Death Sentence. It can’t be.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:42 PM
Is gibbs the one on the other side of Zorn’s headset?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:42 PM
best skins have looked was at the end of the half and at the end of the game. urgency works well for these guys!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:42 PM
I only ask, because the skins don’t look much different
September 4th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
I don’t mind visiting NYC (Dad lives there), I’ll take Chicago 8 times over to live in
September 4th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
Umm, is anything going to be directed down the field?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
Urgency? They’ve taken 2/3rds of the time they had on the clock when the drive started and aren’t even inside the 30 yet…Andy Reid thinks they’re taking too long here
September 4th, 2008 at 9:45 PM
fucking santana moss.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:46 PM
I am positive that Gibbs is calling the plays
September 4th, 2008 at 9:46 PM
i can’t tell if campbell is making terrible decisions, the giants secondary is otherworldly, or jim zorn’s play calling is absolute shit
September 4th, 2008 at 9:46 PM
Boy, the contrarian said there’d be 11 minutes of actual action tonight.. he was way off..
September 4th, 2008 at 9:47 PM
If this was jeopardy, I would say all of the above for 100 Alex
September 4th, 2008 at 9:47 PM
anyone know if Czaban does post in DC?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:48 PM
i can’t tell if campbell is making terrible decisions, the giants secondary is otherworldly, or jim zorn’s play calling is absolute shit
Jim Zorn, FTW!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:49 PM
4th and 13 … so you throw an 8-yard pass. take a fucking chance you pansy
September 4th, 2008 at 9:50 PM
make that, Jim Zorn – FTL
September 4th, 2008 at 9:50 PM
I wasn’t optimistic to begin with but this is infuriating. Besides a few cutback runs, I see nothing different on offense from the Gibbs ll era.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:50 PM
Well this game might be the suck but at least the White Sox are going to have their magic number shrunk as the Twins are down 9-0 going to the ninth and are going to finish 5-8 on the Republican Road Trip
September 4th, 2008 at 9:51 PM
“i can’t tell if campbell is making terrible decisions, the giants secondary is otherworldly, or jim zorn’s play calling is absolute shit”
Campbell is making terrible decisions running Zorn’s shitty playcalling. Jury is still out on the G’s secondary. Also, I just dropped Campbell as my 3rd string QB (for some reason the league I’m in has 9 bench spots) and I decided to take a chance on DeSean Jackson.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:52 PM
watch out butters, the Royals are going 2-0 today
September 4th, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Why the Fuck did the republicans have to pick St. Paul?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:55 PM
That’s a helluva question…they haven’t won the state since the 70’s I don’t believe and I haven’t seen anything yet that would make one think it’s a big battleground state this time around
Should have gone to Alaska and saved the Palin family the long commute
September 4th, 2008 at 9:55 PM
Glad I didn’t start Jason Campbell. Time to start looking for another 2nd string QB.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:56 PM
I could care less about that, but they seemingly have cost the Twins the AL Central, although 6 games with the Royals beg to differ. I just hope they’re within 1 going into the last week.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:57 PM
this offense is sooooo ugly
September 4th, 2008 at 9:57 PM
If anyone is tired of this awful game, the south park where randy fights at the state championship game is on. That’s entertainment
September 4th, 2008 at 9:57 PM
I bet fiancee of the daughter was hoping for Europe, maybe the long flight would cause a miscarriage
FREEDOM!
September 4th, 2008 at 9:57 PM
oooooo
almost caught
that would have been clutch
tight spiral from campbell
why haven’t they thrown more of those?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:58 PM
If you guys can slow down Aviles you’ll have a shot
Seriously, the dude is still batting .332 and is still ballin’ as a rookie.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:58 PM
Am I reading the scoreboard wrong? Is this not a two-possession game?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:58 PM
I know, I know, smiley face alert, your so ghey, you are a girl and all of that.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Can someone help, what is 16-7?
September 4th, 2008 at 9:59 PM
What a horrible fucking performance from the Red Skins. I get the feeling that Zorn just doesn’t know how to manage the game.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:00 PM
Well when it started I think the Sox were ahead by a half game so it’s not like they really capitalized on the bad stretch by the Twins
September 4th, 2008 at 10:01 PM
Fuck this game. I how Kiwanuka is hurt. Fuck.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:01 PM
*hope
September 4th, 2008 at 10:01 PM
Fuck
September 4th, 2008 at 10:02 PM
I’m sure this has been asked in the comments already, but does Jason Campbell impress anyone? Every time I watch the Skins its a bunch of short passes and missed deep balls.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Good point Butters, but the Twins just played so bad on the roadtrip. They easily should have had 2 of 3 from Toronto. That said, I think they will take at least 2 from Chicago and maybe sweep them that last week, depending on who pitches.
And yeah nwilson, gay smiley face.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:03 PM
I just don’t understand why NFL teams play so damn conservatively.
Washington had absolutely nothing to lose tonight. Underdogs on the road in the Super Bowl Champs first game. Why the hell don’t you let it rip? Throw it everywhere. Pull out tricks. Hell, play SLIGHTLY aggressively, which would have been SLIGHTLY more than they did tonight.
That was 3 hours wasted that I’ll never get back again.
/Salty that the Giant D only got me 2 points.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:04 PM
campbell’s two bombs in the final minute looked good and were close and catchable. tough throwing those against 6 DBs, though.
i’d pin most of it on play-calling and decision-making. they looked like the pennington-jets out there. first-game was ugly, but you have to figure it’ll improve
September 4th, 2008 at 10:07 PM
at least the skins can take away that the Defense held. Nice job keeping the Giants to 16 after the way they came out. Offense was okay – Portis was effective, but they just cant run patterns properly on third and medium.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:08 PM
I watched zero plays of that game, and based on the comments I’m glad about that.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:09 PM
“Am I reading the scoreboard wrong? Is this not a two-possession game?”
Line was at 4. A cheap backdoor touchdown would have given TBL money for two packs of cigs that he would not smoke.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:09 PM
I just watched about 1 minute of this republican party. A video about how McCain fought in the war and how he survived. Why is he going this route? The entire country hates war. This bravado thing may have worked in the 80s. But in this day and age, showing us you had big brass balls 50 years ago doesn’t impress anyone anymore. Why would you want to show the smallest inkling that you won’t end the war?
September 4th, 2008 at 10:11 PM
/threadjack
This week’s Dr. Lou was priceless.
/endthreadjack
I really really hope Carny doesn’t become an integral part of the Giants offense. Get the ball in the frigging end zone. Eli Vick looked pretty solid though.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Guaranteed more entertaining than that game
September 4th, 2008 at 10:16 PM
@Gonzo… I’m a fence sitter. I don’t really fit into either party…
That movie was very cool. His story is amazing. He passed on leaving the worst living hell anyone could imagine after 1 year and ended up stuck for 5 years. I’m not sure how anyone can think that isn’t stunningly heroic.
That doesn’t make him a good President or Presidential candidate. However, its tough to argue that anyone could possibly be more patriotic. And, THAT is something that people in this country DO need more of.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:18 PM
TBL -
Looks like you might get a bit wet later this weekend.

“The entire country hates war.” Gonzo
Probably true, but he is hitting the baby boomer bloc with this. They all lived through Vietnam and the clusterfuck that was. I just watched what you saw and I think the take away point from it was that he was a victim. He basically abandoned the under 40 vote which is probably smart, because he wasn’t going to make any inroads with that demo anyways.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:18 PM
MSNBC just showed some guy holding up a “McCain Votes Against Vets” sign. I’m sure he’ll get killed by the secret service in about 10 seconds.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:19 PM
@Diesel: You asshole. I’ve had that in the queue for an MLJ post for 2 hours.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:20 PM
Diesel, I wanna impregnate your mouth
Classic.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:22 PM
Cindy McCain is looking like an emanciated Glenn Close right now. Momma McCain looks like the old guy the Stepford lesbian was married to in Best In Show. Sans mustache.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:24 PM
Thanks to SG for sending me that link, via NickP apparently.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:25 PM
I don’t get politics. That’s why I didn’t understand the video. Thanks for explaining. But it’s disgusting to think the winner will win because he’s “more patriotic”.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:26 PM
They can’t even control the crowd at a convention.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:26 PM
What’s with all the “USA! USA! USA!” chanting? They having to constantly remind John McCain where he is at all times?
Yes Sarah Palin has battled corruption…as a freaking defendant
September 4th, 2008 at 10:26 PM
His mom is out of fucking control
September 4th, 2008 at 10:28 PM
I’d like to impregnate
BristolSarah Palin.September 4th, 2008 at 10:28 PM
Seriously, has McCain outlined yet exactly where he is going to cut federal spending…that’s all I want to hear
September 4th, 2008 at 10:31 PM
McCain just said how he fought lobbyists who stole from Indian tribes. Probably because he’s the only person who was alive back when there were no reservations.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:31 PM
The speech has what I would consider to be a very Democratic flavor to it. Eliminate the old boy network, get rid of big spenders, squash the porkbellies, etc… This isn’t a typical Republican speech.
This will be a fascinating 2 months…
I just hope its about what they each will do instead of negative shots at what the other isn’t. That, I fear, is a lost cause.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:31 PM
@NickP
If Palin plays her cards right in 4 years she could become the first PILF.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:34 PM
@cgb: First?
Are you forgetting William Howard Taft?
September 4th, 2008 at 10:37 PM
You’re right about that one Wally. Although my gravatar would suggest otherwise, I am neither Democrat nor Republican. That said, I don’t think I could bring myself to vote for someone who has so closely aligned with George Bush in the past.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Taft was damn sexy.
Also, If McCain wins, Palin is PILF within two years.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:39 PM
@NickP
The greatest thing about that mustache is the medley of vaginas he must have re-tasted every time he licked his lips.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:40 PM
medley of vaginas? That alone is worth a jew star.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:58 PM
Nick P stole my perv Palin joke from last night!!
September 4th, 2008 at 10:59 PM
And we’d like to thank South Carolina for participating in the top 25.. they look horrendous against Vandy. Anyone remember there’s college football tonight?!
September 4th, 2008 at 11:03 PM
sorry cursed I was too preoccupied with watching Andy Roddick choke away his match.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:05 PM
“Anyone remember there’s college football tonight?!”
Fuck. I just wasted my time watching McCain say nothing.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:08 PM
Was anyone able to catch the Shield Tuesday night.. the writing on that show is top notch.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:11 PM
@KC Resident
Fuck politics I’ve been watching the Cocks slowly move closer to losing to Vandy.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:13 PM
That was painful…Sergio Garcia holds up better under pressure
September 4th, 2008 at 11:16 PM
Touchdown Vandy
September 4th, 2008 at 11:17 PM
Smelly Cocks never perform
September 4th, 2008 at 11:22 PM
So LSU/Florida/Georgia are really good. Alabama is a wildcard.. and then there’s a huge dropoff in the SEC it seems, although still very early to try and stack em.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:27 PM
The Smelley Cock just threw a boner of a touchdown pass.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:31 PM
South Carolina used to be my favorite college baseball team, back when I thought Drew Meyer and Landon Powell were the best players ever. Only Rangers/A’s/South Carolina fans know who those two are I bet.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:33 PM
Fetch I covered OSU college baseball for three years (Nick Swisher was on the team). Double headers would take 9 hours. College baseball takes forever.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:33 PM
I would love to have that job cursed. Maybe not covering Big 10 baseball though.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:34 PM
Just got home. Victory is always better over a rival.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:37 PM
Vandy rules. Smelley is living up to the family name.
September 4th, 2008 at 11:39 PM
Sparty, that game blew.. awfullness on both sides. Eli reverted back to his usual self. Derek Anderson is better. Well, they’re actually about the same.
September 5th, 2008 at 12:35 AM
I watched the Giants-Skins game with friends. Had BBQ and beer, yet the game in the second half got so boring we turned it to Vandy-USC(the other one). It’s official, NCAA football >> NFL .
