Your Super Bowl Prediction Post
NFL September 4th. 2008, 12:45pm
Fairly simple: NFC winner x, AFC winner x. Not that difficult. One prediction per commenter.
Yours may look like this: Dallas 30, New England 23. We’re thinking Dallas over Minnesota in the NFC title game. Initially, we had the Chargers in the Super Bowl, but the whole Merriman mess has altered things. No shot he makes it through the season on one leg. And yes, even though the Chargers defense remains fierce sans sackmaster, we’ll take the Patriots.

Colts v. Niners. Colts win. Where can I get my parking validated?
September 4th, 2008 at 12:49 PM
Cowboys 31, Colts 21. Indy steals an AFC title from New England on a last second field goal; and we get rewarded with a bitter Bill Simmons column after he hyped the Patriots all season.

This is very true.
Postscript: I nearly picked the Cowboys before remembering that they can’t rush the passer. I think “Hard Knocks” nearly brainwashed me into forgetting this; in retrospect, that show might have been the greatest promotional tool since the Dharma Initiative videos. T.O. seems like a helluva guy, I love the plan for the new stadium, Felix Jones might rush for 10 yards a carry, Patrick Crayton might catch 90 balls, Tony Romo loves to win more than he hates to lose and Pacman Jones now makes me think of the guy who caught a sixth straight punt while holding the other five footballs.

Hey boys (and sports gal), just joined a NFL suicide pool. Pick one team to win each week, cannot repeat any teams. If your team loses, you’re out. Any suggestions for this week’s games?
September 4th, 2008 at 2:25 PM
Maine… guess they’re not doing as well lately(last year was plain awful), though I was in Boston for the championship game in 04.

Irish — too risky on Jets over Miami. Historical baggage, Favre, change in coaching and admin staff, etc.
Onterrio – that game made my short list. Would pick Lions too.
Other games in the short list — Hou@Pitt; KC@NE and Chi@Ind.
Remember the idea is to advance, so going with the easiest, no brainer is the best strategy, I think.
September 4th, 2008 at 2:47 PM
@DJB- go with the Lions game. I think you would want to save Pitt/NE/Ind for later
September 4th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
Do not pick the Lions in any road game. This is a franchise that has a record of 8-48 on the road since Millen took over. They might win (I hope they do), but come on…betting on them in a suicide pool would be…just too ironic. Do I need to spell it out?

I’m not going to hold any teams for future use, cause if I don’t get there, I can’t use them. I just want to advance. From what I understand, and this is my first suicide pool, most suicide pool winners are determined well before the season ends. I think this particular pool was settled by week 8.
I see the NE/KC game as the easiest pick, despite Faulk being out and Brady limping. I’m going NE and advancing to week 2!
