I’ll Have a Bloody Mary, Please
College Football September 7th. 2008, 11:30am
Good Sunday morning, friends. A little college recap for your reading pleasure. Roundup will be coming soon, so send your links and tipsys to patrick@joesportsfan.com
East Carolina 24, West Virginia 3: Pat White was 11/18 for 72 yards while Carolina’s Patrick Pinkney was 22/28 for 236 and a score for East Carolina’s third straight win over a ranked opponent. The Pirates outgained WVU 386-251 and their coach’s father is inaudible.
BYU 28, Washington 27: One of the best football names around, Huskies quarterback Jake Locker was penalized for celebrating a touchdown with two seconds remaining, knocking the sure PAT to a blocked 35 yeard attempt. Locker had 62 yards rushing and 204 yards passing. It was BYU’s first nonconference road win since Utah State in 2002.
Wake Forest 30, Ole Miss 28: The Demon Deacons — which sounds as dumb as “Satanic Priests” — needed a last minute drive to hold off Houston Nutt’s new team. Riley Skinner completed 32/43 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns and the nation’s active leader in career field goals, Sam Swank, came through on a 41 yarder.
South Florida 31, UCF 24 (OT): UCF held Matt Grothe to 54 yards on 20 carries, but he threw for 346 yards and three scores. Grothe threw a TD to Taurus Johnson in overtime to end it all.
Texas Tech 35, Nevada 19: Michael Crabtree had seven catches for a 158 yards and a TD and Eric Morris returned a punt for an 86 yard touchdown. I hope you didn’t take the over as that idiot TBL writer suggested yesterday.
Oklahoma 52, Cincinnati 26: Sam Bradford was 29/38 for 395 yards and five touchdowns. Ryan Broyles had 7 catches for 141 yards and a TD. Jimmy Stevens kicked a field goal for the Sooners which is noteworthy because he has two first names that make him sound like a tight end who abuses people.

Christ our offense, defense and special teams suck.
I have to say I thought PSU was going to be overrated this year but they are the opposite. Daryll Clark is a beast.
