How desperate is Curt Schilling to remain relevant? The ornery blogger hasn’t thrown a pitch this season for the Red Sox, but he went on WEEI radio this morning to opine on Tom Brady’s injury, as if his voice matters:

“People don’t like [New England/Boston] anymore. The euphoria in New York is palpable. The Yankees suck this year, and they’re bitter and mad and they’re making excuses over that. Now they got Tom going down, so New York is excited.”

Anymore? We remain utterly perplexed about why everyone is so crushed emotionally about Tom Brady’s season-ending injury. We’re not heartless – we had a melancholy moment when TBD called us at 1:30 Sunday to scream, “YOU HAVEN’T HEARD? TOM BRADY WENT DOWN!” – but we’re not one of those sports fans who thinks the league needs dynasties to prosper.

Do that many people out there live vicariously through Brady? The thought that he carries the NFL on his back is laughable – the idea that somehow the entire league is crippled or less interesting without him seems patently insane.
