The ESPN Conspiracy Against Georgia
College Football, ESPN September 9th. 2008, 11:30am
Georgia coach Mark Richt is probably kidding, but it’s fun to think he might not be: Why didn’t the WWL leader show Knowshown Moreno’s incredible run Saturday (video here)?
“Yeah. They missed the boat or didn’t do their homework or whatever. I don’t know how they couldn’t have noticed that as thorough as it seems like that are most of the time. But it’s going to make our highlights for a long time.€
This is actually a big deal in Athens: ESPN loves Florida and Tim Tebow, but it doesn’t love us! First we’re stripped of our No. 1 ranking for no reason, and now this!
We can see it now: The song Moreno’s Heisman reel will be played to: R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
Richt: ESPN ‘didn’t do their homework’ (AJC)

Really? Seriously?
September 9th, 2008 at 11:35 AM
granted the wwl does fellate tebow, but with such an important game coming this week, its obvious the focus should/would be on that.

Georgia can earn all their respect Sept 20 in the desert.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:37 AM
Florida vs. Miami > Georgia vs. Central Michigan
September 9th, 2008 at 11:38 AM
Who gives a shit. Richt needs to worry about things that matter. That is retarded.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:38 AM
You beat one WAC team in a bowl game, and you get all high and mighty about deserving respect. Call me when you make your conference title game.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:38 AM
Fuck Georgia its not USC or Florida. Right?
USC vs. Florida in the National Championship Game.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:39 AM
I feel espn disrespects the entire SEC.
/vomiting

Preseason rankings mean nothing. USC played a team in a BCS conference, while Georgia played Georgia Southern. Also, could ESPN be a little shy about pumping up a team that has been in trouble a few times in the off-season? From a journalistic standpoint, Tebow and the Gators are the better story.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:40 AM
those black unis are NASTY.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:40 AM
Didnt ESPN pick up the SEC rights?
September 9th, 2008 at 11:40 AM
Really shouldn’t Georgia be worrying about next week instead of last week? It’s Tuesday already!

Also currently on the most viewed YouTube videos: “Ladies, Like My Face!” Limp Bizkit, Faith and a Japanese umpire with a shitty strike zone.
September 9th, 2008 at 11:48 AM
This is the problem when your championship hopes are in any way swayed by some people who only catch the highlights on ESPN. The BCS blows.

For the record, the AJC reporter asked Richt about it, and then the conversation kept going because the FOX and ESPN flunkies were trying to cover their asses. So it’s not like Richt is obsessed with it or something.
Having watched the play–yes, it was pretty impressive, but maybe he should save those moves for a game that actually matters–I would have hated to see him get his legs taken out from under him or land awkwardly and have to sit.

tbl – show them the lion video

Best touchdown from last week(biased edition): Dezmon Briscoe breaks 6 tackles for the 48 yd TD.
/Better than Moreno’s pansy ass leapfrog for 3 extra yards
September 9th, 2008 at 12:01 PM
Georgia will be able to earn Respect all season long: At ASU, Bama, At LSU, Florida, At Auburn
take it easy bulldogians, your team will not be ignored if they win all those games.
Who cares who is leading the polls in week 2?
September 9th, 2008 at 12:04 PM
Didn’t they technically get the No. 1 ranking for no particular reason (other than hype)?
September 9th, 2008 at 12:04 PM
I see sponge-worthy is already conceding a loss to Tennessee.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:05 PM
Irish, that is one of the best pics I have seen in a long time.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:07 PM
Agreed – Great picture irish
September 9th, 2008 at 12:07 PM
Iris, that looks like the guy from the other one that was posted about a month ago.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:10 PM
@Tampa Bo- nothing gets past you. This picture included his friend
September 9th, 2008 at 12:11 PM
That guy needs his own blog, but I doubt he can type.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:12 PM
Well sure they could lose to Spurrier this week, who knows, I was just pointing out that the bulldogs have 5 games out of a remaining 10 are against top 15 teams(not to mentions the SEC championship game against another). It doesn’t matter if you are #1 in September, it matters if your’re #1 at the end of November.

September 9th, 2008 at 12:14 PM
You know what else was a big deal in Athens – Pylon. Just saying.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:14 PM
Who cares. Just win your damn games.
spence- The black jerseys are the shit.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:21 PM
Wow – sorry I sent TBL this link in the first place. I thought it was painfully obvious that Richt was tongue-in-cheek the whole time. Shit, guys, calm down.
As Broseph said, the whole thing was overdone because the ESPN and FOX guys were trying to cover their ass. Richt was clearly joking. Shit, he was in Bristol a few weeks ago for an in-studio interview. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:22 PM
And one more thing – to use a Rivals.com message board as any frame of reference for a fanbase is just irresponsible. Those psychos do not speak for UGA fans. Believe me.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:24 PM
@atl – haven’t seen you around in a while. welcome back (?)!
September 9th, 2008 at 12:26 PM
I don’t get it. The run was good but no spectacular. The dude he hurdled was not for a first down or touchdown. It was after a long run and he hurdled the defender and was tackled 3 yards later.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:27 PM
Thanks – I have a new job that actually requires me to work, so no time for blogging anymore. I pop in every now and then, but usually just once in the evening to read the day’s posts…so not much more commenting.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:33 PM
The damn quotes were done tongue-in-cheek. There really isn’t anything to get. If anybody thinks that Mark Richt gives a shit about whether ESPN plays a highlight against Central Michigan, you need some help. He has bigger issues to deal with like: South Carolina, ASU, Bama, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, and Florida.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:39 PM
agree to disagree…the red look 1,000x better
September 9th, 2008 at 12:55 PM
those things are beautiful compared to those uglyass black unis florida state breaks out once a year. black jerseys AND black pants in the florida sun??? brilliant!
September 9th, 2008 at 12:57 PM
Chase Coffman has hurdled defenders in each game this season
September 9th, 2008 at 1:21 PM
I would have loved to hear their 90 year old play by play’s live call of this. Anyone got it?
September 9th, 2008 at 2:00 PM
Same network that screwed up down and distance last night.
September 9th, 2008 at 4:16 PM
Nothing too spectacular about that run.
