Nerd Alert: 72 Hours of Quality Football
College Football, NFL September 10th. 2008, 2:15pm
Why are we doing this on Wednesday? Not quite sure. [It's not like there are any Vince Young updates, thankfully. Would you rather talk about Matt Cassel's wife? They're going to have tall kids.] A weekend football primer:
Friday:
8 pm – Kansas at South Florida. This is where WVU lost last year.
Saturday:
12 pm – Cal at Maryland. Cal won 66-3 last week; Terps lost to Middle Tennessee State. We’ll take the Terps +14.
330 pm – Georgia at South Carolina. Verne Lundquist season debut!
330 pm – Michigan at Notre Dame. Remember when this game mattered?
745 pm – Oklahoma at Washington. Uneasy feeling about this one.
8 pm - USC-Ohio State. Bxxxxxxxxxxx.
Sunday:
1 pm – Indy at Minnesota. Somebody’s starting 0-2!
1 pm – Buffalo at Jacksonville. Gulp: Jax o-line, decimated.
4 pm – San Diego at Denver. Imagine if the Chargers and Colts opened 0-2.
4 pm – Patriots at Jets. Rivalry. No Brady. All eyes on Cassel.
8 pm – Pittsburgh at Cleveland. Rivalry. Brady Quinn sighting? Nah, too early. Next week!
Monday:
9 pm – Philly at Dallas. Offensive orgy, hopefully.

Quality football?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:20 PM
All I care about is M-I-Z-Z-O-U being 3-0 after Saturday…
September 10th, 2008 at 2:20 PM
Have I started to lose interest in college football, or is there really only one appealing game on that slate?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:21 PM
Wash/Okl will be closer than USC/OSU.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:22 PM
Breaking news: Sarah Palin hates college football.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:22 PM
Don’t forget that stellar match up between the World Champion New York Football Giants and the mighty St.Louis Rams…who the hell am I kidding only the fans of the Champions will enjoy the ass raping they are going to give the shitty useless Rams.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:23 PM

September 10th, 2008 at 2:23 PM

give me a fucking break. that’s absolutely, positively, 100% honest, THE single dumbest thing i have EVER heard in my ENTIRE life.
This will be worth paying attention to for Monday.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:25 PM
It is supposed to rain 20 inches this weekend so I’m going to drink all the beer I can and watch College Football Saturday from the confines of my brand new basement.
The line for KU game started at +6 and is down to +3.5. Seems like a big dip.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:26 PM
Also, sorry
friendsmouth breathers, Chris Wells does not play in that game. I feel like doing the Ren & Stimpy “Happy happy Joy joy” dance.September 10th, 2008 at 2:26 PM

It will for sure. However, I’m throwing 100% of my support behind Spencer.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:27 PM
Don’t you east coasters get Oregon vs. Purdue. That will be much more interesting than UM vs. ND. You can watch some offenses that actually move the ball…now that is quality football
September 10th, 2008 at 2:27 PM
Basements are for poor people.

September 10th, 2008 at 2:28 PM
@cbh: Spence is wrong. Bucks will roll bigger than OU will.
tOSU 31 – USC 10
/not a homer at all.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:28 PM
is this a hypothetical or do you have some info? all that link says is he didn’t practice.
and thanks KC Resident.

Won’t your basement be the first thing flooded?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:29 PM
10 days till ASU/Georgia.
/USC and OSU are ghey
September 10th, 2008 at 2:29 PM
why when I brought up the jags o-line getting hurt did you call it an excuse TBL, but now you are saying it every time you mention the Jags?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:29 PM
I’ll root for OSU for Spencer.

“Breaking news: Sarah Palin hates college football.

And condoms.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:30 PM
Hef…i’ll be sure to have some comments ready after Joe-juh pastes ASU by 5 TD’s.
/please let OSU USC be close…pretty please
September 10th, 2008 at 2:30 PM
As a UW alum, I think the game with Oklahoma might stay close until the OSU/USC game starts. UW actually played OU pretty close for a half last year. I can always hope, but in reality there is no way the UW defense can keep OU from piling up the yards and points. The only way this is close is if OU turns it over a lot (Like 6 or 7 times).
September 10th, 2008 at 2:30 PM
I will be traveling to Syracuse to watch PSU destroy the Orange, and then will have plenty to make the trip home on Sunday watch the Steelers put an early stranglehold on the division.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:30 PM
I believe it’s: not to mention the blacks and the Jews.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:31 PM
I know KC, rain, rain, rain. That’s all it does here these days. We’ve been trying to get our playoffs for baseball in for 3 weeks now and it’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow, friday and saturday now. I’m getting a little antsy…
September 10th, 2008 at 2:31 PM
“Won’t your basement be the first thing flooded?’ CBH
I live on a hill and it is a walkout. I shouldn’t have any issues. Now, my old house and big rain… I’d be watching College Football Saturday while laying in an intertube.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:31 PM
thanks Lance
September 10th, 2008 at 2:31 PM
Well when I am going into the biggest regular season game of the year which will un-doubtedly reserve me a seat in the national title game, I am practicing with my team if I can go. Also, a real coach would only play you if you practice. If he isn’t practicing then he isn’t playing, book it.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
okay how do you change the gravatar?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
Joe-juh is gonna get blind sided.
/true story
September 10th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
I only like Maryland +14 because that will be a 9am game to Cal.
Thurday night – UNC +5
Friday night – Sou FL -3.5
September 10th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
in my USC/OSU euphoric daze i have completely forgotten about the browns/steelers this weekend.
steelers are ghey
September 10th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
Hopefully the Arkansas-Texas game is rained out to save the nation from seeing how junior high our defense is. Either that, or it’s played in the hurricane and the final score is 6-0 Arkansas.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:32 PM
Excuses are for losers. Reasons that something did or didn’t happen are what’s up.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:33 PM
OK KC, just want you to be safe.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:33 PM
Another thing Mike and I agree on. Hey, how about we stop talking about Palin’s family and start talking about how she’s not really a maverick.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:34 PM
Spence – you’ll want to forget it after Sunday night too.
Ark – I’d root to play in the hurricane.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:34 PM
I can’t even imagine my drunken escapade across campus should Maryland pull that game off.
And I expect and hope USC beats OSU like a rented mule. Sorry spence.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:35 PM
CBh -
I’m ready for anything. Got booze, ammo, and frozen pizza. I should make it ok. That is, unless, the damn electricity goes out. Fuck.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:35 PM
Spence: who do I root for this week? USC who plays in the same conference? Or OSU which means I’ll have to listen to all of you jagoffs for three months?
/six of one, half dozen of the other
September 10th, 2008 at 2:36 PM
or Conserative. Or experienced.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:37 PM
And how the fuck does football get rained out? Isn’t if fucking football?!? Are these not the same people who harrassed me endlessly for being a distance runner even though are workout were 10x harder than theirs, yet they can’t handle some rain and mud? Fuck that.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:38 PM
It is nice to know that the Pac 10 has not deviated from their shitty officiating reputation. Will they make it up to to the Huskies and cost OU another game?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:39 PM
Hef…root for OSU, we’re the underdogs.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:39 PM
Someone call the whambulance. You sound like a Seahawk fan.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:39 PM
@KC – the booze and ammo will get you through the power outage.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:40 PM
Kansas’ Mangina gets exposed on Friday, just like they did at Arrowhead.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:41 PM
Spence, that just means you’ll crow even louder if you win.
/Pac-10 > SEC
//yeah, I said it
September 10th, 2008 at 2:42 PM
and…you’re wrong.
pac 10 > big 10 > big 12 >>> SEC
September 10th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
How am I wrong? You just wrote the same thing (except you added a bunch of conferences in thurrr).
September 10th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
ACC > SEC > PaC-10
/making myself laugh
September 10th, 2008 at 2:43 PM
Maybe you’re just bad at math. The alligator eats the bigger (or in this case, better) side of the equation.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:44 PM
while we’re at it…pac 10 > big 10 > big 12 > cusa > mac > big east > socon > asun > acc >>> SEC
September 10th, 2008 at 2:45 PM
I am not getting to deep into the Palin family thing but my brother in law is from Alaska and he told me about her firing the Police Chief in Juneau for not firing her sisters ex husband when she ordered him too before it went national. She was also influenced by the lobbyists and is in bed with the oil companies. And people are pissed that she refused federal money on that “bridge to nowhere” because it came out of the state budget which had a surplus before she took office two years ago. Her bragging is wrong, McCain made a hell of a PR move but this will backfire for him. She has too much baggage. By the way, the my bro in law is not voting for Obama and this really soured him on McCain. Just saying. My allegiances have been stated so I will lay off further discussion.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:45 PM
@Hef: The Pac 10 has the worst officiating in both football and basketball, and it has for years. You’ve seen enough Devil games to know this. At least it puts out a consistent product – shit.
/Science.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:46 PM
dammit, roman. there was a nice and ridiculous college football duscussion going on and you had to go and inject some shit into it. I’m mad at you now.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:46 PM
YEA, ASSHOLE, I GOT IT FUCKING WRONG. FUCK SHIT ASS COCK BITCH TITS MOTHERFUCKER.
/hate making mistakes
September 10th, 2008 at 2:47 PM
miz…Hef started it
September 10th, 2008 at 2:48 PM
Roman: did not.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:48 PM
/As long as you’re not editorializing…
September 10th, 2008 at 2:48 PM
@clown: There is nothing to expose. KU is not that good. Our ranking is about 30 clicks too high by my estimate. 6-6 when it is all said and done.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:49 PM
give me a fucking break. that’s absolutely, positively, 100% honest, THE single dumbest thing i have EVER heard in my ENTIRE life.
Even dumber than Smith is better than Leak?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:49 PM
will somebody tell roman I’m not talking to him for at while?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
no, that i agree with. i think it’s pretty obvious that ANY qb will do fine in meyer’s system. what’s the difference between leak and alex smith? seems to me the only real difference is that smith is still in the league because he’s too expensive to dump.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:51 PM
Backfire from who? Tampa Bo, Cool Rick, and the media? I think we call that a rousing success.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:51 PM
Nick..never said what I was or wasn’t doing..just saying what a conservative dude from Alaska told me…
September 10th, 2008 at 2:51 PM
wait…what smith were you talking about? im so fucking confused.
/sitting the next few out
September 10th, 2008 at 2:53 PM
USC-45 OSU-28 Palin 5
September 10th, 2008 at 2:53 PM
“6-6 when it is all said and done.”
I’m reserving judgement until after the USF game. Our D is giving up a point and a half a game (very large sample size, I know), but our O is wildly incosistent with no running game. I think 9 wins is our ceiling and who knows how bad it could get if we get in a funk. Our last 5 or 6 games are brutal.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:53 PM
Roman -
Mizerle is not talking to you for awhile.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:54 PM
@tampa – are you predicting Palin to get a field goal and safety?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:54 PM
I am devestated
September 10th, 2008 at 2:55 PM
RWH- Palin took the money and derouted it other great Alaskan things.
All in all, this is a fucking fraud. “hide the ball” if you want. No republican is a conservative, no Democrat is a liberal. The joke is on us.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:55 PM
If thats the case the Jets should sign her..Jay Feely blows
September 10th, 2008 at 2:55 PM
@tampa bo- your buddy left a message for you at the end of the NFL Strength of schedule post. you should read it. you have fans
September 10th, 2008 at 2:56 PM
@roman: I know. But it’s like someone saying: “We need to stop talking about Obama. We all know he’s way too inexperienced to lead this country, and his platform is built on imagination. So let’s stop talking about him.”
If you don’t want to “get to deep into it,” then don’t.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:56 PM
@ Hef: You want SC to win so that when ASU beats Georgia, then beats SC we’ll catapult to no. 1.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:56 PM
cool rick I fully agree with your last statement…I am starting an anarchist movement where there is no leadership except for me and you will all bow down to my greatness
September 10th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
No, 5 different types of semen found in her kids DNA. resulting in that extra chromosome and the star of the RNC.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
So a dictatorship?
September 10th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
Nick..truthfully…I would have commented last week when it was being bandied about but I had the funeral…Hef made a quip..I said what I said…It may be the last you hear from me on the subject…truthfully I am getting to the point where I am tired of hearing it…I just thought the info was interesting
September 10th, 2008 at 2:58 PM
@roman – I tried but I can’t be mad at you. I already bow to your greatness.
September 10th, 2008 at 2:58 PM

Jonesing…Never heard of him could be a Palin kid.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
@irish: That’s a great comment. Tampa, you are the man.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
in college football, 3 yrs is an eternity. ask bobby petrino.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
hahahaha. Mike NYC (since you so graciously called me out) define Republican Principles. Define McCain Principles. Define Paula Abdul and “opposites attract.” Define Constitutionalism.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
wow…Tampa Bo the worst? This guy missed out on Johnny and Jay the Most Hated
September 10th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
One month away from the college bass fishing series and we’re taliking football.
@KC: I’m just trying to have very low expectations for the sake of my sanity, and not getting dragged into clown’s baiting. And by the way Grease Paint Fairy (clown), I have one of those 6 wins coming against the ‘Horns in Larrytown.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
I really wish they would take the South Carolina/Georgia game off national TV. I am tired of my team getting their ass kicked in front of all those people every week. This one will not even be close. I have never heard this team/coach/fanbase as dejected as they are this week after losing to Vandy. I still have not decided whether or not to go to the game.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
Hope this works
September 10th, 2008 at 3:02 PM
damn
September 10th, 2008 at 3:02 PM

September 10th, 2008 at 3:02 PM
Hope what works?
September 10th, 2008 at 3:03 PM

I have never heard this team/coach/fanbase as dejected as they are this week after losing to Vandy.
Really? I thought you guys would be starting to get used to it…
September 10th, 2008 at 3:04 PM
Lance-HA! Black is beautiful.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:05 PM
I have never heard this team/coach/fanbase as dejected as they are this week after losing to Vandy.
Seriously, has South Carolina ever been good?
September 10th, 2008 at 3:05 PM
terrible. yet simultaneously true.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
@cbh – Sout Carolina has been perceived as good several times. does that count?
September 10th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
i thought we were keeping the political talk confined to the am roundup?
September 10th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
@ August…I think people have finally realized it is never going to happen. If Spurrier can’t do shit around here, why even keep trying
September 10th, 2008 at 3:06 PM
AssHawk, too much Alexis Texas has made your cabeza go loco.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:07 PM

September 10th, 2008 at 3:08 PM

September 10th, 2008 at 3:09 PM

September 10th, 2008 at 3:09 PM

September 10th, 2008 at 3:13 PM
Ouch, just when I was starting to get Alexis Texas is Buttwoman(check that shit out Tampa Bo. You will like.) out of my head too.
Sorry RWH. You will have to get Bill Dance superfan, miz, to write that post. Unless the Jayhawks throw a team together in the next month.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:14 PM
Sorry everyone. I got called out ala PM style. I apologize to everyone.

September 10th, 2008 at 3:14 PM

Might have something to do with him being a lying, slimy asshole.

September 10th, 2008 at 3:18 PM
Peterno is 2-0
September 10th, 2008 at 3:19 PM
Petrino is 2-0, look at who those 2 wins are against and look at the margin of victory. Color me unimpressed.

September 10th, 2008 at 3:21 PM

You gotta give it the pm round-up as well… afternoons are too slow not to!
September 10th, 2008 at 3:21 PM
Just like Notre Dames one win.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:21 PM
Spencer, don’t feed those stereotypes. Weed makes people more creative.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:22 PM
Hey how many wins does Michigan have, oh yeah, one, but wait they have played two games, while Notre Dame has played one, I wonder which is better?
September 10th, 2008 at 3:23 PM
@TB: It is a new release over at Elegant Angel. Jenna Haze makes a nice appearence in it as well.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:24 PM
Az, please continue, I am taking notes.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:25 PM
Im a fan of Elegant Angels superfreaks series(black bitches). Overall I dont like Elegant Angel. Red light District is where its at.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:27 PM
AZ-You are into all these old bitches you need to get a Videobox membership 10 bucks a month gets you mad porn quality shit.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:28 PM
Forgive my ignorance, but this is a good thing, right?
September 10th, 2008 at 3:31 PM
Nice to see that Tampa is the only sane one in here. Sure those 2 wins weren’t impressive (at all) but winning with the shit he was left is a lot better than losing to Appy State at home.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:32 PM
