OT: Man, 80s TV Shows Rocked
Television, Video September 11th. 2008, 1:00pmThis show was mentioned yesterday in the comments, and instantly, we began a game: You play the You Tube theme from an 80s TV show, and someone else in the room tries to guess it. Two that might be challenging: This one, and this one. Here’s another that will surely stump even the really nerdy 80s die-hards. Guaranteed.
Also, it’s sad that the 30-minute TV sitcom is virtually dead.

After watching those clips, I think Bob Uecker is the only one that still has some semblance of a career.

D list actress Kathy Griffin hates Sarah Palin!

Spence doesn’t strike me as the type, but then again I have been wrong before.

I used to wake up early to watch Charles in Charge reruns while I was getting ready for school. When Buddy and Charles became VH1 reality stars I realized that life comes full circle

Im goin with Palin on this one. Kathy Griffin is such a loser. but this is a good Alaskan vs. Tranny fight.
September 11th, 2008 at 1:16 PM
None of those were even remotely challenging.
I always thought this was a great 80’s theme song.

“snark” has replaced “funny” for tv shows, which is why the 30 minute sitcom died

Question: Better 80’s black midget? Emmanuel Lewis or Gary Coleman?
September 11th, 2008 at 1:30 PM
What, no C. Thomas Howell?
September 11th, 2008 at 1:30 PM
personal fave
September 11th, 2008 at 1:31 PM
I can name that 80’s sitcom theme song in 3 notes, Alex.
September 11th, 2008 at 1:31 PM
why limit it to black midgets. Keifer Sutherland and Tom Cruise.
September 11th, 2008 at 1:31 PM
Arnold Jackson, no question

Fine: Revised Question: Better midget ensemble? The TV sitcom midget tandem of Emmanuel Lewis and Gary Coleman (both on different shows) or the whole midget cast of Time Bandits (3rd best movie ever)?
September 11th, 2008 at 1:33 PM
OMG-Time Bandits! +1 cool rick.

Opening part of Night Court theme = Coolest Bass line in TV history
@Jimmy Chitwood: Good find on the “One Day at a Time” theme…..did anyone ever think that MacKenzie Phillips was even remotely attractive?
September 11th, 2008 at 1:38 PM
Maybe, but not as much as Valerie Bert’n'Ernie

September 11th, 2008 at 1:44 PM

Sitcoms aren’t nearly as good as they used to be, but “How a met your mother” is trying really hard to at least keep them around. Besides, why would studios waste time hiring actors and writers when they can do reality, or draw 5 cartoon shows made and voiced by the same guy.

Why the hell did Mr. Belvedere go to Pittsburgh in the first place?
September 11th, 2008 at 2:36 PM
“Why the hell did Mr. Belvedere go to Pittsburgh in the first place?”
I love thinking about that kind of stuff. I had some very interesting, heated discussions in college on topics like that. Other fun questions to ponder:
Mrs Garrett was employed both as a maid in Manhattan AND was in charge of a prep school girls dorm in Peekskill? Where did she live? That’s one hell of a commute. Which job did she have first? How did her background as a maid get her a job as the sole person responsible for keeping dozens of teenage girls out of harms way?
The Facts of Life was based in a beautiful, idyllic setting: Peekskill, NY??? Really?
September 11th, 2008 at 2:45 PM
Thanks for the love. I really do try hard.
September 11th, 2008 at 3:34 PM
anyone else just start laughing when the video takes off about 5 seconds in?

Was the Greatest American Hero really supposed to be challenging? The only one that was tough was Head of the Class – still got it though. That probably doesn’t say much for me.
