My girlfriend, now wife, was in the hospital on some serious drugs. She called me at work and told me, “I think something is wrong with the FAA, two planes have hit the Twin Towers.” I told her it was terrorism.

She later called me when the towers fell, and I could not comprehend it. I actually had to drive to a hearing 2 and half hours away, and did not see the footage until after 6 p.m. The hospital she was in was locked down for a while, and the doctors and nurses watched TV all day.

It is hard to believe that was seven years ago.

What I remember most, besides the initial waking up and finding out, was Bush’s speech, I think it was later that night. I was choked up and pissed off at terrorists and I was truly behind Bush. I wanted Gore to win but I was totally convinced Dubya would kick those terrorists asses. His approval ratings were through the roof. Man how things change.

On Sept. 10th we got the ultrasound for our first kid and I was all set to take the pictures around and show them off to my friends and family the next day. Instead, me and my old lady just sat in front of the TV wondering what kind of world we brought out kids into.

/didn’t stop us from having a second kid for some reason. odd.

I woke up early on the morning of Sept. 11 to see if there were any updates on Ed Mccaffrey’s knee/leg ( I’ve always been a fan… his brother was a basketball legend at Vanderbilt). He blew it out the night before on MNF (which ended his career).

During a commercial break I flipped over to CNN and watched coverage after the first plane hit when everyone was still going about their business. Then the 2nd plane hit and everybody freaked. I started waking up my room mates and they lost it.
