Game of the Century: tOSU vs. U$C
College Football September 13th. 2008, 8:00pm
OhmyGodOhmyGodOhmyGod! It’s here! The Ohio State University is finally playing the University of Southern California. This game will surely decide the fates of us all!
I know I’ve been just as hard on the Buckeyes as anyone. I have no reason except that it gets a rise out of people. The truth is, I’ll be rooting for Ohio State to pull off the upset – When in doubt, root for the underdog, I always say.

September 13th, 2008 at 8:05 PM
Amazing! You can predict the past!
September 13th, 2008 at 8:06 PM
Want another one???
Chase Daniel=Heismann
September 13th, 2008 at 8:07 PM
Okay I’m done. But I really don’t like Ohio State, or USC. I’m hoping that it’s a good game though.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:13 PM
It’s going to be tough. He’s going to end up competing with Maclin for votes.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:19 PM
A pregame? Seriously?
I know it, but Daniel is so effective. I got to see todays game at the local watering hole, and it was like practice. People were pissed they gave up 17 points. This program has came a long ways.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:22 PM
It’s going to suck when Pinkel bolts for a better job.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:22 PM
WAIT. It’s been 18 years since these teams have played? Guess I didn’t catch that the first 29 times they’ve said that tonight.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:23 PM
You an mu fan cassino?
September 13th, 2008 at 8:23 PM
Todd Marinovich is gonna be there? I thought he was in jail… seriously
September 13th, 2008 at 8:25 PM
3 and out. I love it.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:25 PM
No.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:27 PM
I’m an MU baseball fan, one of my boys plays outfield for them. Very disappointing loss last year in the regionals
September 13th, 2008 at 8:27 PM
I hope both these teams lose.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:27 PM
Hakeem it sucks that they played that well all year and then got stuck with Miami to start out in the Regionals. Nobody, ever, wants to start with Miami.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:28 PM
going to see burn after reading instead. no point watching as its all that will be on sportscenter tonight
September 13th, 2008 at 8:29 PM
moleman, don’t forget about Michael Phelps on SNL tonight. There is always that to look forward too. Should be interesting.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:29 PM
Yeah but they could have won that game, and they also should have beat Ole Miss the second time. Oh well
September 13th, 2008 at 8:31 PM
im morally opposed to things that suck, so i wont be watching snl. as its not the nineteen nineties, they need to cancel that damn thing and just let conan do weekend shows
September 13th, 2008 at 8:31 PM
im not gonna lie i forgot the game was tonight before i agreed to goto the movies. oh well.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:32 PM
True, but that Timberlake Dick in the box skit that somebody posted on here last night was truly genius.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:33 PM
nwilson- they didn’t start off with Miami, they started off with Ole Miss. And that team wasn’t that good. They had one good starter.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:33 PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhwbxEfy7fg
September 13th, 2008 at 8:33 PM
They beat ole miss the first game, lost the second one
September 13th, 2008 at 8:34 PM
My bad. You guys are definitely right on that one.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:35 PM
dick in a box? did i travel back to 2006 or something? hey anyone heard of homestarrunner, its a great new site i found!
September 13th, 2008 at 8:39 PM
oh and lets say, osu 24 usc 17. why not
September 13th, 2008 at 8:45 PM
OSU 24
USC 17
The lesser of two evils…
September 13th, 2008 at 8:48 PM
Who the hell invited Galikanokus?
September 13th, 2008 at 8:48 PM
“It’s going to be tough. He’s going to end up competing with Maclin for votes.”
Eh, perhaps. When is the last time a WR won the Heisman? Early 90s? And that was based a lot on his punt/kick return stuff. Chase is looking good. He put up those ridiculous numbers today in not even 3 quarters of playing time.
Mizzou’s D has some issues. There, I had to say something negative about that pisshole university. Got to give respect to what they have done, however.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:50 PM
I was worried about you KC. No tornados, or flooding for you? I’m up in Joetown and we’ve had 5 inches of rain since thursday, but I hear you’ve had it worse.
D has issues? 17 points? 10 in the first half?
September 13th, 2008 at 8:52 PM
Against the juggernaut that is Nevada.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:52 PM
Where’s the rest of the tOSU fans?
September 13th, 2008 at 8:53 PM
Shit.. i log on and tOSU gives it up damnit
September 13th, 2008 at 8:53 PM
when your ahead by 50 it’s easy to relax on D. I understand KU might have did that on Friday…
September 13th, 2008 at 8:53 PM
speed still kills. 7-3 the ‘other’ USC.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:54 PM
I can’t believe i’m rooting for USC.
/fuck osu
September 13th, 2008 at 8:54 PM
Holy shit nwilson that’s some of the worst grammar ever, and not just cause you’re a mizzou/unc fan. Very convenient of you by the way.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:55 PM
nwilson -
D issues… just kidding. I had to say something negative about you turds. I live off k-32 west of Bonner Springs nowadays. We had sirens going off around 5 oclock and lasting a hour last night. I have a 5 inch rain gauge and it was overflowing this morning. A bit soggy, but no wind damage. It appears we were about 5 miles away from the DeSoto tornado and it wasn’t much. Just moved to the new pad and had the first KU Football & Poker gathering. The game didn’t work out so well, but we had booze and other and I don’t understand why we can’t run the ball.
…End ramble.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:56 PM
Excuse the grammar. I’ve been drunk since 11:30 for the MU game. I should get a pass.
That’ll be my only cheap shot tonight. Swear it.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:58 PM
I’m rooting for OSU. If USC wins, the ESPN slurp will last all fucking season. If tOSU wins, I’ll still get highlights of LSU owning them.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:00 PM
Very familiar with the area. Good work on the new pad. Not being able to run the ball is very frustrating. When your qb throws and throws and throws, then it’s 3rd and 2 and you can’t pick up a first down it’s so demoralizing. South Florida really did a good job of coming back last night. I thought they were done at 20-3 or whatever it was. Very impressive.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:00 PM
random sports score: The #1 team in 1-AA lost today 16-13 to Wyoming.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:01 PM
I must say, that USC football alumni list gets horrific very fast.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:02 PM
Damn, is Tressel the new Bob Stoops? His team looks completely different in big games, almost tentative.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:03 PM
“I thought they were done at 20-3 or whatever it was.”
I had a bad feeling that we were piling up yards at will yet settled for 2 field goals early. I still don’t understand the pitch left play on 3rd and one from the 11. Oh well. We got beat. Now we have to look forward to a massive tilt this weekend vs some directional 1aa school.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:04 PM
Rumor: Marcus Allen is there strictly for the pussy.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:06 PM
Wow, Peter Carrol’s son, the tight ends coach, told the offense they’re going to score 100 points because OSU isn’t going to stop them.
Now that’s an impressive nugget!
September 13th, 2008 at 9:07 PM
“I must say, that USC football alumni list gets horrific very fast.” Sports Hernia
Marinovich graduated? At least Robert Patrick knows where he can get some heroin for his brother.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:09 PM
McKnight is a step slower than Reggie Bush. Same moves tho. Why does OSU defense feet stop moving when someone is running in front of them?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:09 PM
Damnit
September 13th, 2008 at 9:10 PM
“Rumor: Marcus Allen is there strictly for the pussy.”
This game is over. More to the piont… great story. Marcus Allen’s nickname is Driftwood. The gal OJ killed was screwing him as well and told it to that gal (Faye Resnick? I get all my tangential 15 minute hollywood scandal people mixed up. The chick that parlayed the OJ murder thing into a Playboy spread.) Anyhow, Nicole was walking on the beach with Faye (or whatever her name is) and saw a large piece of wood on the beach. She said, “that reminds me of Marcus’ cock.” Hence, the name Driftwood.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:11 PM
You could purchase Google with the amount money spent on fake cans in this crowd.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:13 PM
Great story on Marcus, KC.
Rumor: Sean Salisbury is there strictly to watch Marcus Allen get pussy.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:15 PM
USC is going to win this game 60-12. OSU sucks.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:15 PM
That may be the easiest Afflac Trivia question ever.
When Herbstreit agrees with me, you know their easy.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:17 PM
Yeah really, how about GA barely pulling that out today. Is S. Carolina here to stay?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:19 PM
Need a TD OSU. Anything less will lead to pure asswhipping.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:20 PM
And yes I realize there now 1-2.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:21 PM
So is the Pac-10 the best conference across all sports?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:22 PM
The “real” USC always play conference games close. They just don’t win many. OSU finding ways to lose.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:22 PM
Fetch: yes.
Go devils.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:23 PM
And that question wasn’t asked at random, it was on a commercial during the UW-OU game.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:23 PM
Cal losing today to maryland doesn’t help that argument.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:24 PM
no.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:24 PM
Awesome showing by the Buck tonight… maybe heading to Hooters for a B-day party at halftime won’t be such a bad thing
September 13th, 2008 at 9:25 PM
If Kansas didn’t lay an egg last night I would argue with you. I’d stack Oklahoma, MU, KU, and Texas up against any conference. Still.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:25 PM
What conference is better Makblunt?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:25 PM
I’m at a bar in Tempe. Never seen so many people root for USC in my life. Strength of schedule is a fickle whore.
Go devils.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:29 PM
Herbstreit can’t believe his shirt matches his eyes.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:30 PM
Florida(2 b-ball championships, 1 football), LSU(2 football) in the last 5 years. Big 12 would be second tho.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:32 PM
Musberger hasn’t changed in years, the guy clearly needs a perm.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:34 PM
@Makblunt: All sports is more than just Football and basketball.
PAc 10 teams routinely win sports like soccer, swimming, track, volleyball,
Stanford is the top athletic school in the country, Texas is #2 last i saw the rankings
September 13th, 2008 at 9:34 PM
pick 6. asswhooping time.. dammit Bucks.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:34 PM
Indians are going to lose a double header to the Royals today. What a sad day for Ohio.
Cue Billy Packer:
“This game is OVA”
September 13th, 2008 at 9:34 PM
Pac 10 >>>>> all.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:34 PM
Thanks for the extreme closeup of Lisa Salters mouth.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:35 PM
Yeah SEC probably gets the nod. Although it doesn’t have the depth in basketball that some other conferences do. If we’re talking just one sport though there’s no question what the best conference is.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:35 PM
soccer is a sport?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:35 PM
@ The Sports Hernia: He mentioned the Avs ‘01 Cup win, so he’s ok in my book
September 13th, 2008 at 9:36 PM
Lofa Tatupu just suplexed something after seeing that return.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:37 PM
And by SEC I meant Pac-10. Freudian slip?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:38 PM
USC boner alert.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:38 PM
Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee are all top notch B-ball schools. Alabama, Miss. St., Vandy and LSU are decent at times. But still, the depth could be better.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:38 PM
@makblunt: FYI
September 13th, 2008 at 9:38 PM
Is the sports hernia norman chad?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:39 PM
Kirk Herbie is broadcasting this game in the worst possible way all it is, is here’s is what OSU needs to to, OSU needs to blank, OSU needs to etc… Come on Herbie, you are better than that
September 13th, 2008 at 9:40 PM
Is Weis now off the hook for saying “the hell with Michigan”?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:41 PM
Mays = Sean Taylor
September 13th, 2008 at 9:42 PM
I didn’t expect this game to get outta hand this quick Fucking Buckeyes.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:43 PM
Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura deserve to be doing this game.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
btw, the best conference in the country is the WCHA. It’s true.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
An overrated chant? Those creative bastards!
September 13th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
that was a monster hit on boeckman
September 13th, 2008 at 9:45 PM
Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura deserve to be doing this game.
What about a young Vince McMahon? he was great
September 13th, 2008 at 9:47 PM
Throw him in the mix. And Howard Finkel could replace Lisa Salters.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:49 PM
Ok, you win. Even though I don’t agree win any other sports existing other than football, basketball, baseball, track, sometimes tennis and golf. You have proven that in fact, they do exist and the Pac 10 dominates in them, esp. Stanford.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:50 PM
USC scores right here Pryor should play the whole 4th quarter.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:52 PM
nice pick. doesn’t matter anymore, but still nice pick.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Some first half musings:
Malcolm Jenkins getting burned by Havili – a fullback – was priceless.
USC counterpunches Ohio State’s field goal with a TD. Ohio State counterpunches with… a 3 and out.
Todd Boeckman being down 14-3, we all knew the backbreaking INT was coming. And sure enough, he delivered in a huge way.
Terrelle Pryor is a lot more effective than I thought he’d be.
Joe McKnight is one of the top 5 beards in the nation. He’s the anti-Clausen.
Not a good throw from Sanchez on the pick, but otherwise he’s had a great half.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Throw him in the mix. And Howard Finkel could replace Lisa Salters.
no love for Mean Gene?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Who the fuck runs away from Erin Andrews. Tressel is a queer.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:54 PM
Erin Andrews just had a nice run as well.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:54 PM
Terrelle Pryor is a lot more effective than I thought he’d be
dude just can’t throw
September 13th, 2008 at 9:54 PM
@Makblunt:
Even more telling is that the WAC had as many national championships as the Big East last year
September 13th, 2008 at 9:55 PM
He’s thrown the ball pretty well on the little outs and swings, but hasn’t shown he can throw the ball down the field.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:57 PM
everything OSU has done is gimmicky it’s all fakes and mis-directions they can’t line up and beat USC, not even close
September 13th, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Yeah. And I have a feeling that the second half is going to be feed-Joe-McKnight time.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:04 PM
and it’s gonna be tee off on whoever is at QB for OSU
September 13th, 2008 at 10:05 PM
That’s Tressel. It’s like playing against someone in Madden that you know owns you. You try to fool them to death with bootlegs, and WR screens, and when all else fails.. QB scramble. Still a loss tho.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:09 PM
It occurs to me that Erin Andrews is going to be in Tempe for the ASU/Georgia game next week. I think I’ve got a chance. Don’t wait up, ladies.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:09 PM
It’s like playing against someone in Madden that you know owns you
It’s like you are looking into my soul!
September 13th, 2008 at 10:12 PM
You’ve seen that old spice commercial with LL Cool J? That’s how I would picture this working out.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:13 PM
Auburn is on Croom alert.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:17 PM
3-2 in the 4th? I have never seen that.. not ever
September 13th, 2008 at 10:22 PM
3-2. Absolutely splendid.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:24 PM
It would have been a great undercard for the cripple fight.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Wait, Am I watching Jonathan Coachman on ESPNews? When did he leave wrestling? Where’s Imig when you need him?
September 13th, 2008 at 10:28 PM
3-2 hurts SEC’s claim as the top football conference. That, and Tennessee losing to UCLA. Still better than the Big Ten, tho.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:29 PM
I saw the Coach too, but I heard he was moving to ESPN, still really weird
September 13th, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Damn, it’s like watch Bush and fat-ass LenDale White all over again.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:31 PM
That, and Tennessee losing to UCLA. THAT and BYU murdering UCLA
September 13th, 2008 at 10:37 PM
” Am I watching Jonathan Coachman on ESPNews? ”
I sort of know that guy. He started out in Wichita and was in KC I think. This was like years ago. My brother worked with him. The chicks loved that guy. I remember everyone was stunned he went to work with the WWF.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Yea I love USC fuck michigan those cocksuckers. Im wasted but I just wanted to show up.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:38 PM
That and BYU barely beat Washington, who got murdered by Oklahoma! Who lost to West Virgina in last year’s Fiesta Bowl! West Virgina which lost last week to East Carolina!!! C-USA is the Top conference in College Football!!!!!!
September 13th, 2008 at 10:40 PM
You could kind of sense Ohio State had no chance when they had to pull off all kinds of crazy plays, and subbin Prior in every other play to just score 3 points on like a 17 play drive. They just don’t have the talent that USC has.
Maybe no one does though. Ohio is a pretty good high school football state, but if Pete Carroll is getting the best players from California every year then they should be Number 1 pretty much every year.
Prior looks like a player though. Maybe in a couple years OSU might have a team that can really win it all when Prior has more experience.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:43 PM
Joe McKnight is from Louisiana. Carroll has the pick of the litter when it comes to recruits. No pro team in Los Angeles means all football coverage and money goes to USC.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:47 PM
This is buttery garbage. USC should stop scheduling cupcakes and play real teams like App. State!
September 13th, 2008 at 10:47 PM
The wheels are off of OSU.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:48 PM
just another Ohio State University…
September 13th, 2008 at 10:49 PM
Awesome
September 13th, 2008 at 10:52 PM
Great goal line stand in “The Valley”
September 13th, 2008 at 11:03 PM
CRm has been doing work today.Good job I love you.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Yea I love USC fuck michigan those cocksuckers. Im wasted but I just wanted to show up.
I’m with you Bo
September 13th, 2008 at 11:18 PM
Onterrio the fucked up thing is that Im a michigan fan
September 13th, 2008 at 11:20 PM
so the fuck am i
September 13th, 2008 at 11:23 PM
HAHaha. I was so drunk earilier my Girlfriend had to talk to me I was done now I have a grip on what is going on. and OSU sucks balls Im totally satisfied…after I get a BJ.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:25 PM
There goes my 45-21 prediction OSU can suck a ball sack.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:26 PM
yes this makes up for everything, at least we weren’t expecting a great season.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:28 PM
YOu are my boy onterrio this does make up for everything. I am laughing so hard right now and I dont think I can stop.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:29 PM
add a Wisconsin win over OSU and my season is made
as pathetic as that sounds
September 13th, 2008 at 11:32 PM
well looks like i made the right call, burn after reading was epic and the game appears to have been brutal.
so if osu gets into a title game this year beating up on the big ten, im done with college football forever
September 13th, 2008 at 11:33 PM
YEs but seriously this was fucking ridiculous. 35-3 they only scored 3 points how does that happen. USC isnt that good. Michigan hasnt even lost that bad against USC and we lose all the time against USC.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:34 PM
They won’t. It’ll be USC vs Oklahoma or the SEC Champ
September 13th, 2008 at 11:36 PM
Yeah, they are. This is the best defense USC has had under Pete Carroll. Sanchez has proven he’s a Heisman contender. They proved today they’re the best team in the nation, bar-none.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:37 PM
but put Steven Threatt against USC and they’d lose 56-0. Henne couldnt beat them but Henne is gone
September 13th, 2008 at 11:40 PM
OK USC is that good. OSC just fucking sucks. Im still calling Florida vs.USC but Michigan has never lost that bad against USC. THis is one for the DIrty Sanchez.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Only because of the slurp job by ESPN. Not in reality.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:42 PM
Onterrio Dirt is a great album the only Alice and Chains Album I own. This gives us hope agianst OSU but we still will lose.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:43 PM
Fetch dont be mad because Ressing Fessed up yesterday against USF. Dirty Sanchez for Heisman and chase Daniel.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:44 PM
You guys mean ASU/Georgia, right?
/go devils
September 13th, 2008 at 11:46 PM
HEf I forgot about that game. GO DEVILS. Georgia is overrated.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:46 PM
I mean ASU/Oklahoma.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:49 PM
Tressel is a faggot. I bet he has a leather sweater vest.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:51 PM
He’s the QB of the best team in the nation, which translates to Heisman contender.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:56 PM
So according to thecassino, Matt Flynn should have been a Heisman frontrunner last year. Glad we got that cleared up.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:59 PM
Look at every other motherfucking year idiot.
You can win any argument with a sample size of 1.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:01 AM
Well I don’t think Chris Leak was the year before. Oh ok then. Your theory is awesome.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:01 AM
2 games, 42/63, 510 yds, 7 TD, 2 INT, for the best team in the country. How is he not a candidate, again?
September 14th, 2008 at 12:02 AM
Then VY and Leinart were, Josh Booty was for LSU the year they won it I believe, he wasn’t a contender, the year before Craig Krenzel wasn’t, the year before that Craig Krenzel wasn’t. I can see why you stated this as fact.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:02 AM
Troy Smith won the Heisman. His team was ranked number one. Try again.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:04 AM
So I guess Stats dont count just wins.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:04 AM
September 14th, 2008 at 12:05 AM
I would like to see a USC v Florida matchup now.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:05 AM
Hey Tampa Bo, AL Central all tied up. Nervous yet?
/I wouldn’t be
September 14th, 2008 at 12:06 AM
Heisman is picked before the national title game. You cannot discount team success in the equation.
The season is two games in. To dismiss Sanchez at this point is absurd.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:07 AM
2006 – Troy Smith
2005 – Matt Leinart/Vince Young
2004 – Matt Leinart/Jason White
2003 – Jason White
2002 – Carson Palmer/Ken Dorsey
2001 – Eric Crouch
2000 – Chris Weinke
So that’s every year with the exception of last year.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:07 AM
I’m not dismissing Sanchez, I’m just not handing him the trophy yet.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:10 AM
It’ll be Rudy Carpenter at year’s end.
/go devils
September 14th, 2008 at 12:11 AM
Fetch I dont care we got a Championship in 05. As long as the Cubs dont win the fucking Nationals can win I dont care. But whats up with Ressing Heisman winner he is not. I got my money on Dirty Sanchez.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Well, you said the only reason he’s a contender is because of ESPN. Which is wrong.
USC/OU would be awesome.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:12 AM
So you subscribe to Simmons’s 5 year grace period or whatever it’s called then, Tampa Bo? And I agree with you on the Cubs part.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:17 AM
Does it really matter Twins aint gonna win shit.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:18 AM
Mizzou is gonna rape OU its Florida/USC all the way.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:18 AM
This game was lost when OSU couldn’t get the ball in the endzone in the first half. They were right there and self destructed. Gave USC the momentum, and at home, they don’t give it back.
Mark it down though, USC will not go unbeaten. They aren’t nearly as good as the score of this game. Boeckman and the OSU o-line inflated the final score.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:21 AM
Mark it down though, USC will not go unbeaten.
Who is gonna beat them?
September 14th, 2008 at 12:21 AM
I agree with riverfront. USC will lose to ASU.
/go devils
September 14th, 2008 at 12:21 AM
The first part of that statement is 100% speculation. They’ve given no reason for anybody to think that.
How was the score inflated?
September 14th, 2008 at 12:23 AM
I agree with riverfront. USC will lose to ASU.
I never will bet on a guy named Rudy. Sounds like a bookie.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:23 AM
tOSU played awful, their worse nightmares realized. USC was heads and above them, and if they lose, it’ll be a Stanford-type meltdown.
But they won’t. They’ll maul OU in the title game, again.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:25 AM
You know what got me, though? Pryor was pretty effective despite not being allowed to throw and USC knowing it. They struggled to keep up with him. Imagine what he’ll do to regularly talented defenses.
No more Boeckman please. Run the zone read and walk into the Rose Bowl.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:25 AM
An Orange Bowl flashback does seem pretty likely.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:26 AM
And then after imagining that, imagine what he’ll do against Big-10 defenses.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:27 AM
Penn state is rose bowl bound.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:31 AM
The score was inflated, well, the margin was inflated, because OSU sucks on offense. There’s no reason to believe USC’s defense is really that good. They struggled to stop Pryor when they knew what was coming. Tressel just refused to sit Boeckman and ride what was actually gaining yardage.
And that game would have been 21-14 at half without pointless unforced penalties from OSU. They actually managed to put two good drives together and then dug too deep a whole for themselves and had to kick FGs. You don’t beat USC with FGs.
Who will beat USC? I don’t know. But they’ll lose. This is not the USC teams of a few years ago. They’re riding wheel routes and dumpoffs because Sanchez has limitations in the downfield game. His arm is suspect, and he is immobile. The line will fail to protect him in at least one game, and he’s not good enough to win with his arm alone.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:36 AM
You’re right. It’s better. At least it is defensively. And offensively it sure resembles those teams. Sanchez is a very good QB, they have playmakers at WR, and a loaded stable of backs. McKnight is explosive much in the way that Reggie Bush was.
You can play the “if” game all you want, but remember, it can go the other way too. You could make the argument that USC should have gone into the half up 28-3, or at least 24-3, so I think the score was pretty accurate.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:36 AM
Pryor? Ha. He looked absolutely lost out there, overwhelmed. The numbers don’t do much to prove otherwise: 7/9, 52 yards, 11 carries, 40 yards, and virtually no threat of a downfield throw when the dropped back to pass.
They didn’t struggle to stop him at all. USC is that good; whether they can play at that level consistently is a legitimate question, but they are far and away better than OSU.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:37 AM
@Longliveriverfront
Even with a bum knee for a pocket passer Sanchez is pretty mobile. I hate OSU as much as the next guy but the score was inflated because they played the best team on the road without their best player. I agree I don’t think USC will go undefeated because they always get into a close game with a Pac-10 team they should dominate. Right now they are the best team in the country though.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:43 AM
Look when you have a guy named Dirty Sanchez and you play in the Pac-10 you raped the NO.5 team in the Nation. I cant say they will lose. Its Florida/USC in the National Championship game.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:49 AM
Their schedule sets up pretty well. They get Oregon, Arizona State and Cal all at home. Notre Dame too, but that’s no danger. They do have the unfortunate stagger of 4 home and 5 away in conference though.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:50 AM
CGB,
Not having Beanie hurt, but I don’t make excuses. OSU had chances to stay in the game and they couldn’t execute. USC’s defense is really good, but when you get in the RZ with the overall talent OSU has, you have to score. They didn’t.
And let’s face it, this team sucked against Ohio’s defense. It’s a bad offense without Beanie and with Boeckman. And not once did they call a play to get Saine and/or Herron matched up with a LB in space. That’s almost criminal considering the mansion USC was bringing at Boeckman. A simple screen could have gone for 50 yards at any time…but they ran none by my count. Nor did they go 5 WRs and spread the field more than once or twice. They stayed in a shell. The only player that had any success in that shell was Pryor.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:53 AM
My girl just gave me a Ibuprofen 800 and an Ambien good night gentlemen. OSU sucks sack.
September 14th, 2008 at 1:02 AM
I’m not making excuses. They lost and I am happy. However their entire offense runs through Beanie Wells. It was Tressel’s fault for not scheming differently knowing he would not play and the other running backs wouldn’t get it done. If Wells had played I think their offense would have looked much better. Pryor and Saine only compliment what Beanie gets going on the ground for them.

Anyone else watching this Fresno State-Wisconsin game?

September 14th, 2008 at 9:39 AM
At least we won’t have to worry about tOSU making the BCS Championship game this year. Maybe we’ll have a competitive game now.
September 15th, 2008 at 9:26 AM
I hope they go away now. I’m tired of watching them get murdered on the field.
