NY Post: Same Old Choke for the Mets
NY Daily News: Nat again!
Your new NL East leaders, by 1/2 a game: The Philadelphia Phillies, whose bats have not fallen into a September slumber. The news is grim for the Mets: tonight, their pitcher is a man named Brandon Knight – it will be his second career start. Fernando Tatis, who kept the team afloat until Carlos Delgado got his act together, was lost for the season when he busted his shoulder while trying to make a sliding catch. Two rookies will vie for his spot in left. Now, the positive: the Brewers lost to the Cubs, and the Mets took their wild card spot.
12 days left in the Mets’ season, 12 games to go. Watching with obvious glee: Willie Randolph. Another collapse means he’ll work again this decade; a trip to the postseason probably prevents him from a head coaching gig until like 2012.

Luckily the entire National League sucks scrote, so the Mets will still make the playoffs.

So you’re saying there’s no chance.

7 up with 17 to go is a collapse. 4 up with a month to go is not.
The Mets have been playing above their heads since the All-Star break. It makes sense they’d come back to earth.

Jerry Manuel needs to pull out that blade and start threatening bitches.

Stealing the WC from the Mets when the Phillies take the division seems like the only way the Brewers are getting in now.

Their bullpen is absolute shit, the fact they are in contention for anything is amazing.

Which is worse, Tigers pen or Mets pen?

Let’s go Phillies! I just want to see them beat the Cubs in the play-offs. My buddy will cry… it will be great.

as a Met fan, i am torn… if they win, Manuel stays, which i do not want. if they lose, i gotta put up with months of speculation about whether Omar is a goner/who is gonna shake up this bunch?

and Pigpen is 10x better.

That Mets pen bows to Pigpen.

JWM…I like Jerry…he is going to stay regardless…and as for those two rookies…Daniel Murphy has been producing for 2 months for this team is batting .360 with a .440 OBP…Nick Evans has had his hits too..but the loss of Tatis sucks…

i don’t dislike Jerry, I just want someone in there who is not content to let these guys go out there and do their thing. he is too quick with the hook on the pitchers. i like Murph(always good to have a Murph around)and Evans. i think if they do not make it, Jerry and Omar are gone!

If only David Wright didn’t sound exactly like a kid going through puberty in his interviews.
