I love when people pick and choose quotes and don’t include them in their full context. I added:

If he feels “disrespected” because he is black and “George Bush hates black people”, then that is his business I suppose, but I feel NO empathy for someone in his position disrespecting the National Anthem “because he’s black.€ That is disgusting and a slap in the face to the people who have fought to protect the rights we do have here.

It is my choice as a sports fan to not cheer for him (or even boo him if I so desire), but I will not take it to the extreme that these people did.

My point was that these emailers have every right (in a non-racial way) to choose not to support Josh Howard and the Mavericks because of his remarks (I believe we have those rights as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Oh, and my “veteran” comment was not just about white vets…I’m sure there are plenty African-American veterans who took great offense to that comment. Just because we have free speech in this country doesn’t mean we have to sit silent when ignorant people speak.
